  • Mixcraft!

  • mixcraft 5 or cubase 6 :D

  • i'm using ableton live 8 . . :) you pay for it but it's actually worth it. Althoug hit has a slight learning curve but it's a-okay. :) also if you wanna play with digital synthesizers without the actual equipment that is, you can try Audiosauna. it's in the google chrome app store you can find it here wwwDOTaudiosaunaDOTcom it's completely free :)

  • hey i was wondering would any laptop be good for recording or should i look out for some things when searching for laptops

  • FL Studio FTW!

  • REAPER

  • JLSguitars

Of course PC's do not have GB! thats the beauty of Macs.

When in Italy do you order Mexican foooooood????

  • MIXCRAFT - The idea was to create for PC something as close to Garageband as possible (you know with this interface). The result is quite good, specialy if you want something quick and easy to use.

  • @zoa0gray It doesn't even let me start recording. I have trouble with that one.

  • The closest thing to Garageband would be Mixcraft. However, Cubase runs amp simulation VSTs in the latest version, and the quality is MUCH better. So, I'd say Cubase if you have the money. Mixcraft if you don't.

  • I Found Mixcraft is alot like Garageband. Its good but not the best for PC.

  • I recently made the conversion from PC to Mac and haven't been happier. A good cross platform app is Ableton Live. I used it when I was still living in the Windows world, and its just as good if not better on the Mac. I use Reason for a lot of my synth and sampling work which is also cross platform.

  • Well, Mac is the ultimate laptop/pc to record your music on. May it be any DAW. Logic, Garageband, Pro Tools, Cubase, anything. I myself have moved from recording on windows to recording on mac. The difference is massive. Now if you're looking at an alternative like Garageband for Windows? Theres this DAW called Acoustica Mixcraft which actually looks like Garageband. Otherwise Cubase or Nuendo are good DAW's for Windows.

  • Adobe Audition or Mixcraft for PC, Ardour for Linux cross platform. Hydrogen Drum Machine is also very nice if you need any percussion cross platform. Audacity is nice free and cross platform. And if your serious about editing you should look at Ubuntu Studio. Most people would be amazed at how many of the Big Players use open source or linux.

  • Mixcraft 5... from acoustica

  • i need a free program for all that music editing and recordin stuff. but i dont know any so if any1 knows of any plz respond

  • @TurtlemanRulez Read the other comments on here to answer your question.

  • I know this video is old, but there are a bunch of stuff for pc for beginners. computers are all a matter of preference really i own a pc i built which i feel was worth my cost. There are programs like fl studio, reason, cubase, audacity, pro tools, Sonar cake walk. Mac has tons as well, cubase and pro tools can both be on a mac and there is also reason, and also logic. If you have Questions I have answers. The Samson is a great mic to start with i started with and it was amazing.

  • protools

  • Magix Music Maker. I use it all da time and its super easy and is the perfect software for a home recording studio. I think its also on mac too. Just type in the url magix.com and they also have video editin stuff, audio cleaners, and bunch of more software for great prices.

  • dude. holy crap I wish I had known about this channel before my band recorded our demo in our drummers living room. Good quality all things considered but the information I've gotten from videos would have helped immensely. I think I know what to do differently next time. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

  • Use REAPER. It's the bomb.

  • Hey there!

I am a PC user and i've googled pretty much all of the named products to this video. Only 'FL Studo', 'Audacity' and a 'Home Version' of virtual dj, is for free. According to the pictures of the interfaces of the different programs I think FL Studio looks the best.

I'd rather use some time on a free program, to dig into it and learn to use it well, than buy a studio program. So can someone tell me, if the money spent on a recording program, can beat time spent on the free programs?

  • @DKoutposting Two words. Bit. Torrent.

  • Macs dominate in studio stuff. And PCs when it comes to gaming. Anyways, I found Audacity better than Fruity loops and its free ; D

  • mixcraft

  • you can use a virtual mac on PC with this program ( VMware workstation ) I think its free

and install mac OSX on it then you can use Garageband on your virtual mac on PC

  • @djrbjrap could you elaborate on this more please. I've never been a Mac guy and prefer not to have to purchase one if possible. Any help would be appreciated.

  • @Domindian2829

Okey 1st step you have to do is download ( VMware ) software

2nd step is installing it on your PC

3rd step is downloading virtual mac for windows

4rd step is installing virtual mac on VMware

    That's it

I'm sorry if my English is wrong because I'm not American guy

    thank you

  • Pro tools 10

  • I use Mixcraft 5. It does everything I want it to do.

  • Mix Craft 5 is like Garage band, it's close.

  • Cubase

    Mixcraft

    FL Stuido

    Vitural DJ

    Magix Music Maker

    Audacity

    Ableton

  • Fl studio, audacity, n-track studio, ableton live, adobe audition, cubase, audio studio gen. 6... just to name a few... thumbs up to keep it at the top :)

  • @JCH34DR1PP3RCJ Are those all midi compatible? Also, do you get real time playback?

  • @MrGentner It depends on which version/software package you opt for... check out the manufactures website to make sure. :)

  • adobe audition cs5.5 is one

  • fl studio

the demo is free and you can do all the same things except save your unfinished songs, but i have away around that so i basically have the full version. Message me if you want to find out how .

  • there is in fact something that is much better than garage band. Garage band is like using normal paintshop vs paintshop pro. I use garage band for fun and to make a song with friends to past time. Its fast. Go get fruityloops-ezdrummer-melodyne from those fun sites i cant post links to. and take the time to learn a few easy things to get you started. You have way more control and more realistic drums. I have and mac and pc so im not hatin. Both are good. Protools will be your next step.

  • @Seanvandeusen ps if you get serious into recording i would highly recommend a mac. But garage band is a fun toy not really the best studio recording software. God with a mac and protools. Fruityloops is a step up from garage band if you have all the tools i listed to get. Ezdrummer looks exactly like the drums on garageband. melodyne is a form of pitch correction which is better than the plugin FL offers.

  • ableton live is a very good program

  • mixcraft 5

  • REAPER

  • There is a free download out there called AUDACITY. If you're a beginner, then this is a good program. Several features, easy to use, and you don't have to upgrade your sound card. One drawback though is Latency....sounds like you're using a delay but you aren't.. Just play with the settings on Audacity or upgrade the sound card driver. Hope that answers your question....

  • I do have an Hackintosh. My PC is now a super PC! I found this solution cause can´t afford a mac right now, but I will!

  • Cakewalk; $40 retail

  • Mac = The Mercedes Benz of Computers.

PC = The Lexus of Computers.

Both will take you to the same place. point A to point B.

But becareful if the Mercedes gives you problems it would cost you a fortune to fix it.

  • @videotitan1 Lexus's are much more effeicient aswell.

  • @videotitan1 truth!

  • @videotitan1 did you come up with this?? I'm gonna start saying this. Yo I love this quote!! ^_^

  • @videotitan1 The Mercedes gets better milage and it has a much stronger immunity than the Lexus.

  • and this helps me???

  • try pro tools.. its the best

  • Dudes ! ive been trying to use mixcraft 5 as well as audacity & the playback on both comes out at half speed or so. Does anyone know what i should do?

  • Cool shirt dude :D also I use mixcraft and audacity , they are pretty good alternatives but the skin or so called theme doesn't look as good as garage band...

  • Fruity Loops, Virtual DJ, Mixcraft, PCDJ, Thats all the best ones i know for PC/Laptop

  • You can get mixcraft5 for free its close to garage band not perfect but with a midi controller you can do some cool stuff :P

  • Mixcraft 5 is the best, and easiest, program for beginners. and very cheap!

  • audacity its free and simple to use

  • @tattoolover100 Does it record MIDI?

  • Mac is better for artsy stuff. But pc is probably more of a buisiness coputer

  • @MRAIRTIME112 You can do "business" stuff on a Mac too!

  • @MRAIRTIME112 pc is more a gaming computer man

  • @MRAIRTIME112 you can do both on either, really.

  • @MRAIRTIME112 this confuses me.

  • Mixcraft if your a noob, fruity loops if your good

  • FL Studio 8 isn't too bad.

  • mixcraft,reaper,logic,cubase

  • What's a PC?

  • @Ocielocique PC = Personal Computer, usually with a Windows Operating System :)

  • cakewalk , hands down. im not sure what garage band is like but i think cakewalk is the best for the pc. and that usb mic you love so much lol , it should come with cakewalk 4 i believe, well it did when i bought that mic years ago. its a pricey program but i reccomend it , payed 700 for cakewalk 7 when it came out. i also have a behringer x1222usb mixer, by any chance do you know how to use all the tracks for each individual recording? have them correspond with the tracks on the computer?

  • MixCraft is a PC equivalent to GarageBand. It's not quite as good as GarageBand, but it's probably the closest thing you can find. (Our school computers are Macs, and we use GarageBand in music class, but I have a PC at home, so I have to use MixCraft)

  • Mixcraft and Reaper.

  • Mac sucks. End of story. GarageBand is the only good thing about mac. and Maybe it looks cool too. But overall its a sucky engine and whatever. Anywhoo.

  • MAC always get the gd shit

  • How is COOL EDIT PRO 2.0? Please reply .

  • @viplovem I haven't heard the words Cool Edit Pro 2.0 for over 5 years lol. But I did use it and found it good for recording. It doesn't do any MIDI sequencing or anything like that though. Your best bet is Ableton Live if you want a program that does everything.

  • Theres mixcraft but u can purchase avid studio

  • mixcraft is Decent but for people looking for a good, STRONG DAW for PC look into COCKOS REAPER. It works very well and is a fairly uncomplicated DAW. i record between a mac and a PC and i can honestly say as long as the PC you build can hack it, there is NO difference and both work equally well.

  • I use Mixcraft 5. Great DAW for the PC.

  • @OUWATZAHLE08 Are you joking? "Who uses Macintosh"??? Everyone I know!! Plus every major recording studio. I

  • @GaragebandandBeyond every major recording studio? so..?

  • @GaragebandandBeyond I think he was referring to MacinDOSH lol.....

  • FL studio is great for windows, for those that also want an open source solution (ie: Free) thats like FL studio and has a ton of features as well check out LMMS (Linux MultiMedia Studio), it works on both Linux and Winblows and i THINK they might have a Mac binary as well.

  • If your using Garageband for strictly recording Audacity does the same things. And it's PC compatible. Actually, I don't think it even works with mac. Whatever.

  • I did start out with Audacity. Its controls were manageable if limited. If all you want to do is record rough tracks, audacity is great. If you want to do anything more sophisticated, such as fading, eq-ing, or midi processing, you will need something more powerful.

  • Having messed around with free software all I can say is that if you can afford Pro Tools or Cubase, don't use anything else. The full versions go for about $600(proTools 9) and $500(cubase), but if you are not prepared to spend that kind of money, you probably aren't at the point where you need all of the features in the full versions. The cheapest setup I've seen is an M-audio interface with protools M-powered for $99. I use an avid M-Box mini 3 with protools le($329) and couldn't be happier.

  • FL Studio

  • HOLY FUCK DACE MIXCRAFT DOESNT HAVE SOME OF THE FEATURES LIKE ON GARAGE BAND!!!!!!!!!!!11!!111!1

  • i use FL Studio 10

  • Cubase is amazing! its what i use...very professional comes with some interfaces when you buy em, ive seen a lot of high end studios use cubase (:

  • mixcraft

  • MIXCRAFT!

  • MIXCRAFT BITCHES !

  • :'-(

  • mixcraft is EXACTLY like GB!

  • if i have stuff saved in garageband on my mac and i want to transfer them over to a pc, what is the best program for this process?

  • @lostforwords182 You would have to be using ProTools on the PC. But I could foresee you having a mountain of issues with that. I mean it is a PC! ;)

  • @GaragebandandBeyond ProTools on the PC is awful. It's just a really bad port of the Mac version, and often has trouble with certain interfaces, which is supposed to be fixed in PT10, but I can't attest for that.

IMHO if you're using a PC to record go buy Sonar. Sonar X1 is 'da bees knees! For us lowly PC users anyway. ;)

  • try presonus studio one demo is free if buy a a product you get artist free and for $200 more you can get PRO. Reason Record, cakewalk, cubase.

  • Garage band is very user friendly and everyone can use it with ease.. softwares like fruity loops are a bit more complicated. I've tried mixcraft and it's pretty user friendly, but i like Fruity Loops.. I think FL is more complex. But i'm no expert on this field, so my statment is not credible

  • HEY DUDE MIXCRAFT 5 IS PRETTY MUCH THE SAME =)

  • mix craft, reason, or fl studio!

  • Magix Music Maker

  • Magix Music Maker

  • mix craft is free go to google and type in mixcraft no spaces

  • cool edit pro 2.0 only for windows

  • Fruity Loops Studio!

  • indamixx usb drive

  • trakax dot com

  • Ableton live 8

  • i need garageband for pc

  • before garageband I had cakewalk home recording paid under $100 dlls ( I still have it on my old Dell PC ) and I really like it a lot specially when I work with midi files I can do a lot (select different instruments, copy, quantize etc. )

I'm still trying to find out if I can enter midi data using garageband . thanks if some one can help .

here is a little 'video' using some garageband conga patterns .

  • I will save your life. The answer to "Is there a software like, GarageBand, for PC?" is YES! Magix Music Maker! I personally prefer it over Garageband! Check it out! MAGIX MUSIC MAKER. Google it! Please message thankful blow jobs to my account! :)

  • mixcraft

  • reaper is all i need now

  • you can get an mbox on musicansfreind for about 400 and it comes with pro tools

  • NO NO NO NO NO...IF U LOOK AT THIS VIDEO IT SHOWS U HOW 2 GET IT ON PC........MIXCRAFT IS VERY GOOD 2

  • People with PC!!!!!!!! PLEASE READ!!!!!!!

use Reason and Record !!!!!!!!!!!! best software for pc (can also be used on mac) they are both made by propellerheads software and are combined, the best path to sucess in yurr music career

  • can i set up a daw Control Surface 2 mixcraft

  • download mixcraft, very alike, very much of the same recording features, etc.

  • mixcraft

  • i use fl studio

  • i use audacity on my pc its free and it works

  • mixcraft is a garageband rip off.lol

  • @gorbagthrash yeah ive been using mixcraft but its not working for me anymore..its a good program for someone getting started because its easy but now i wanna upgrade..but lately its been acting up so screw it lol

  • @Justs0MEGUY11 what did you find bad about mixcraft i say only one thing i dont like about it you cant zoom in a lot on the track like i would want it but its easy

  • @willxxxlife well theres only so much you can do with it as far as mixing wise..

    to my knowledge..

its good quality but as soon as i used garageband you could tell the difference..

im not knocking on mixcraft..its really easy and affordable..

i would start on it first but upgrades are always good.

  • @Justs0MEGUY11 how is it compared to audacity? i'm currently running audacity but you can't really manipulate the tracks too much so i am looking for something a bit better.

  • @mycrimsonregrets ive used audacity once and didnt like it what so ever theres only so much you can do with it.

with mixcraft you pick it up real easily and once you do its a pretty decent tool to start out on..

i really suggest you find a way to get your hands on it.

id say its maybe a downgrade to garageband and garageband is pretty amazing lol..im still trying to see if i can venture out and see what logic and protools are like but until then its ok with me.

  • @Justs0MEGUY11 yea, audacity is pretty lame, thanks for the info.

  • IS gb ONLY FOR MAC?

  • @hereinthebronx pay attention to the video, MAC ONLY!

  • You can look on cakewalk.com for many softwares and hardwares availible for pc and/or mac. The have midi keybords, audio interfaces, mixers, etc. They have pretty much everything except instruments. Hope this helps. Oh, and a tip I have is find what you want on cakewalk, then go to amazon and search it there. Always much cheaper and they have user reviews on amazon.

  • yes mixcraft

  • mixcraft

  • Hey, I just had a question about Garageband. Would it be possible to put a Garageband project on a Jumpdrive and then load it onto a PC? If that is possible, then you could open that project on your PC, and go to file, then new. (I don't know if thats how you open a new project because I've never used Garageband. I'm just guessing that's how you do it.) That way you could have the actual Garageband on a PC. Please message me back confirming that this works, or does not.

    Thank's

    -Jedisponge16

  • @jedisponge16 Like I said in the video..... GARAGEBAND IS ONLY FOR THE MAC

    Sorry!

  • @jedisponge16 thats not how computers work...

  • I use Studio One from Presonus, its an awesome program, and easy to use. I believe it retails for 200-300 bucks. It came free with my audiobox

  • i use mixcraft.

  • if you are a bit of a geek, as well as musical....try Linux Ubuntu Studio. Its "open source" which means free!!!!

it takes work to set up the system, but for anyone on a shoestring budget, i reccomend, as well as use it.

  • REAPER is a brilliant recording program for Mac & PC. Free to try.

Do a google search for Reaper Audio

  • mix craft 4 it the closet to garage band

  • @pdpdrums195 I agree, Mixcraft 4 is pretty cool. My only problem is I have a Zoom R16 interface the ASIO driver only recognizes it as a 2x2 interface. Dont' know if they ever corrected that problem or not.

  • they sell garage band seperatly and you can download it to your pc the only thing is that it cost like 300 bucks so i just bought music studio 7 but its more like if your gonna make retarded beats for a dj

  • Can you please send me a link to a place where you can get Garageband for the PC?

I am searching for it, but I don't see it.

  • my mistake there isnt buit supposibly mixcraft is good and acid music studio is alright but still not as good as grage band

  • FL Studio is the best equivalent to Garageband for P.C. .

FL Studio has a very similar layout to Garageband: record audio tracks, play midi and use virtual instruments, a step sequencer for drums etc.

A free alternative is called "Reaper"...it has most of the the same abilities as Garageband and FLStudio (again, just different menus). It's a professional quality digital studio environment- I've been using it for a while and it's great!

  • it feels hopeless. i just want to record vid w/ better sound quality. I have not found the answer for PC users.

  • Pro Tools!!!!! Nah just kidding. Mixcraft is a very shitty copy of garageband. Magix Music Maker is also good and very easy to use. Try it!

  • mix craft good, cause it simple in use, but the Guitar Rig muuuuuuccccchh better... I advise all of you:)

  • There is a music editing product named "Sonar"

this is what top producers use to edit and produce raw material and it's what i use. it works awsomely and rocks

  • mix craft all da ya dog

  • I would suggest Mixcraft because it's simplicity and ease of use, I use Cubase LE but it's a lot more challenging to use, ESPECIALLY if you don't have a 2nd monitor.

  • Hey People out There im Rated 5 Starz :D ok i already have this question in the past and i searched like a month over and over everywhere until i found this AMAZING Program , im sure you will find it so useful its called FL STUDIO is very similar to Garage Band but maybe with other concept and its kinda complex to use u need tutorials and all that stuff but im already using it and its REALLY amazing , you dont know all the thing that you can do with this software, Its not free but worth buyingit

  • okay so we have quite a few programs here but is Lewin willing to work with them to make similar videos?

  • Abelton Live is a great system, but they are getting more and more expensive with each release. Plus, you still need a good raw wave form editor because Abelton's is weak at best and can only do minor adjustments.

The minimal Abelton is $99 and will do pretty much everything GB will do (with a few plugins that is), but if you already have a Mac, GB is more than sufficient to get the job done until you outgrow it and start learning how to mix on a higher level.

  • Audacity is pretty good for recording an mixing, though its not as pretty as garageband...

  • & its free!

  • thanks helps will check some of these out

  • sony music studio

  • thanks for answering my question, apreciate you trying to help me :)

  • I thought that Garage Band was on the PC but it is free on the Mac...

  • No, Garageband is only for the Mac.

  • Mixcraft is very simalar, but the best programme for PC is Cubase, with Amplitube as plug in

  • "Mixcraft" is what the equivalent to GarageBand is on the PC. Its a great program that my friend has been using for quite some time now. He said that its just as good as GarageBand. You can download a trial version for "Mixcraft", but if you want the full thing, its going to cost you about $70.

    Hope this helped

    -Mike

  • I use Ableton live,It's not garageband but it's simple enough to use.

  • adobe soundbooth

  • I use FL Studio 8.

Its for Windows, but more complicated.

You should see if u can use it..
