What did you use for the 3D? It looks like blender. How'd you learn how to use it?

We used Carrara Studios Version 5. It is fairly expensive (it was a birthday present), but highly powerful and has many more capabilities. We learned how to use it by spending MANY hours practicing on it, but it is fun to use.
