What i am thinking about doing is to use a Plastic Vertical Rain Water Tank 1500 to 2500 min 79"H this should work very well. then i will use put it under ground, I will have to modify the top with a door and air vents to circulate the air.
A New water tank cost any where from $600 to $????? depending on the size. this is very cheap compared to the fabricated ones, So when I start this project i will post a video. Look at : raintankdepot .c
@CreatorXCode Hey, just be careful when using something that will keep water out completely. When the ground freezes it will rise and push through your floor that I one reason I opted for the galvanized steel pipe and just used a little cement in the bottom and a sump pump.
Rule #1 when tornado comes, person must LEAVE TRAILER. Why not build a shelte right where you are dumping that water? Looks like you have plenty of room for a real shelter. BTW it would not protect you from the blast. It is not enclosed. The heat from the blast, if close enough would melt your body or melt that trailer right down on top of your dumb head. Do you wear a hat? Because you sure are not using your head for anything else, other than a hat rack.
How did you have that shelter built? I'm wanting to do the same thing here on our mobile home trailer for storm safety......not really have it built right into the trailer itself, but in the yard. It looks like a culvert like wall. How deep is it? If I do something similar....I'll be sure to install a sump pump.
I built it myself using a piece of 4' culvert galvanized pipe. I bought an ten foot piece and placed probably a little over 5 feet under ground and then there is about 2 feet above ground with over a ton of concrete poured around it. I like the way I have it under my bedroom but if I had to do it over I would have just built a small concrete room above ground connecting to a closet in my bedroom. I did consider using a concrete septic tank because some say they make a great storm shelter.
wow believe it or not but here in vegas thats las vegas in nevada you wold actually get in trouble for dumping that much water but they may make an exception beacause of the rain
Seriously, I guess in vegas the water needs to be conserved because I know that the water in vegas is all piped into there. It probably took 15-20 minutes of pumping to get the water out and you can see how much water was coming out. Not sure how many gallons but it was a lot.
Yeah, I've used it several times. Peace of mind more than anything else. Water slowly trickles in there only after we get a lot of rain over a long time period. Water always finds a way in something like this because it is below the water table. I knew this when I built this and planned for the sump pump.
