The thing about hypnosis like this (what i consider stage hypnosis) is they feel the pressure to perform. They see the cameras they know what Derren is trying to do. The NLP signals like "Stop thinking about it now" do have a big part in it im sure, but my point is that the only reason it works is the person at some point gives in (decides to play along in a way) and wants it to work. And the cameras help.
I strongly advise anyone who wants to know more about Derrens methods to read his book, Tricks of the mind. It's briliant, really funny and well written.
It is wrong to call this NLP. Derren says in his book:
"I now have a lot of NLPers analysing my TV work in their own terms, as well as people who say that I myself unfairly claim to be using NLP whenever I perform (the truth is I have never mentioned it)."
Read the book its great. He gives insights into loads of his tricks and teaches a few.
Hi @JohnboyLea, if an someone who practices NLP wanted to wind you up they would only have to "meta comment" that your statement above was an example of x, y, z NLP process. But really who gives a hoot? NLP has lots of great things that work really well and make it very useful. The "you can attribute anything to NLP" is actually kind of true, because it is a meta discipline. But you can also attribute anything to anything else ... if you the person operating presumes a relationship.
But just because someone presupposes a relationship doesn't mean it actually exists, & just because you, me, Darren Brown or anyone else says something doesn't mean it is so. We are all human, you've got your own reference experiences, opinions & prejudices that lead you to certain conclusions, just as I do and Darren. The key message is - think for yourself - enquire and look to prove yourself wrong as much as you look to prove yourself right and you will discover more closely what is really so
@JohnboyLea He probably wants people to believe that hes using NLP and so he puts it in there. Thats part of his genious. Check out NLP Birthday gifts. I suggest that Pegg really did write a BMX bike and that Derren knew this all along. Then Pegg is confused at the end because he knows he never wrote Leather Jacket YET it was in his handwriting and somehow got in his pocket, so he starts to wonder for a second if he really ever did write bmx bike. He did.
This is a new lanuage technique that the illuminati group have developed and it will be enforced in all school's apparently, this i heard from a leading member of the illuminati on a radio show in Austrialia early this year. Dangerous times ahead, anybody who wants to do good should stay away from this
@30760005 the Illuminati already uses this stuff..thats how they get away with pointless wars...thats how they get people to work jobs they hate and it's how they get people to buy shit they don't need
I do this in the street now and agin for fun too, and as for having the power and being dangerous it could be in the wrong hands but luckily I have morals.
It looks like the 3rd guy was just too distracted by the fact that there was suddenly a camera crew in his face for Derren to gain any rapport with him. The constant raising of the eye brows looks like an attempt to play along while really he's feeling very uncomfortable; sort of like a "yeah, sure, whatever dude" kind of expression.
i think you got the cue in the command wrong. when he says, "what stop, thinking about it, what stop are you getting off at?" He is telling him "Stop Thinking About it!" not just putting emphasis on Stop.
wouldn't darren brown be considered as slightly "dangerous" from what he can do to people? imagine the power of persuasion and basically being able to control what some people think, do and remember...
It could also be a miss in his choice of subject. The third guy might have been more alert already from the start whereas the other subjects he chose was probably in a more trancelike state to begin with.
good work showing examples of what did and didn't work. lol. seconly, the failure third example most like was ineffective because the target was visually accessing the destination image, whereas the 2 previous targets had a digital-audio internal accesing cue, the latter being more easily alterred with the suggestive hand motions and verbal cues utilized.
The hand waving is from EDMR and breaking up her pictures and accessing of the info.

@JohnboyLea I hate everyone appropriating things to NLP. you can attribute anything to NLP because its bullshit is such wide ranging.

Good info on the NLP used.
Shame the sound volume of the commentary and the clip couldn't be the same!

Blah, blah, fitting theories after the fact. Why not just show us a few controlled experiments that indicate that the NLP bs works?
