Hes making a political point. He's saying that a common, uneducated Englishman could not have written those plays, it must have been someone from the educated aristocracy.
We all know that Marlowe was the person behind Shakespeare's works. You want evidences of this? Well, there are only speculations. Speculations as speculative as the reasons given by Mr. Emmerich.
I have read over 30 books on the authorship question. Mr Emmerich has distilled the facts admirably in, I think, a successful introduction to them for the movie-viewing public. Looking forward to the film. Well done, Mr. Emmerich!
Regarding the comment of RyanTh3Lion, he needs to do some fact checking. Emmerich took no salary for this movie. Now do you start to get it? Google is your friend. Unlike you, Emmerich has some idea of what he's talking about.
WOW how low can you go for promoting a movie. Emmerich is a $ hungry popcorn movie director who has no stance at all to divert students from the riches of shakespeare's play to promote his badly made movie. I am also disappointed in how many scholars love to strut there historical learnings on the issue, its sickening to me that people just cant appreciate that at one time long long ago beautiful and amazing stories were told, and we have them to enjoy...way to miss the point everyone...
@kiskanovarecords Nope, long standing theory is that Sir Henry Neville is the author of many of Shakespeare's writtings and that every single writting does not match Shakespeare's life in a way that it was even possible for him to have written them.

The argument is as sound as the sound effects are classy.

Interesting to me Roland that you would never attempt to compare yourself to Shakespeare, all while slagging him off repeatedly here!!! LOL
Pray tell Herr Second Rate Director, what sad event hath caused thy melancholy?

This is just German jealousy over attention and admiration the English writing output is receiving.

Hey Roland, did you know Falco and what really happened to him? (Falco - Rock Me Amadeus) ✾
Is 'Anonymous' Shakespeare Asmodeus? Is Amadeus Asmodeus? ✾
Do Rosicrucians or Freemasons know the real answer? Care to shed any 'light' ? ✾
Thank you.

3 reasons why Emmerich's opinion is irrelevant: 2012, Godzilla, 10000 BC

@VlastaStevanovich At least Emmerich can prove that he did create those movies, even if they are so very horriable.....
