How swinging those things ever became popular, I don't know-but I am sure that many a neuro and ortho back surgeons are happy that their future boat payments will be guaranteed.
@edmonddantes64 Actually, if you learn a correct technique, your back and your core get extremely strong and functional. Many "bad" backs got healed... but again, if you just pick up a kettlebell and start swinging it left and right without knowing what you are doing, you may be in trouble. But it is like with anything else in life.
@sixftlion I have been training with kettlebells 1 and a half year. Front swing is one my main exercises and it has builded my lower back much stronger. Of course like you mentioned, it must be done in a correct way.
@edmonddantes64 You are very wrong about it. Here in hungary it is used by someothopedic doctors as a therapy for back illnesses. And it works very well.
Firemen swear by kettlebells for back strength. but youtube wouldnt be youtube without some uninformed dbag showing us the power of their useless opinion.
@palinfailure Do fireman perform a lot of back fusions or would you say get more back fusions performed ON them? The human back is an inherently UNstable and poor design. The design works great if horizontal-eg dogs, cats, elephants...especially with large weight bearing, stabilizing hips.
Mount the back upright and it's BAD.
Swing a heavy weight around and the torque can easily distort and shift discs, nerves and other sensitive structures.
@Inuminado yes. Imagine the stress put on those UNsupported structures when the inertia and torque from a heavy kettleball is placed on it. The further out goes that kettle ball the greater the torque, even more so with an increase in momentum.
But I suspect, by your post, YOU already knew all that!
hmmmmm
