How is it sad? They painstakingly attended to all of the minor details that go into hand drawn animaiton. This is what I expected to see from modern consoles. 2D games that look like the cartoons we all grew up watching (at least if you grew up watching Guyver, Ranma, Fatal Fury and Orguss like I did). This game is stunning and I have no doubt that it will be a better experience than SF IV.
If that were the case, then Disney's next theatrical film (The Frog and the Princess) wouldn't be 2D. Japanese anime would be less popular than shows like Jimmy Neutron and Alien Hominid would have never gone from being a Flash game on Newgrounds to a full fledged console title. 2D is very much well and alive. But I respect your opinion and dislike of the art form. You may prefer to play KOF Maximum Impact, which is 3D.

I'm not so sure he beat Iori up as much as he waited for Iori to come out of the blood riot when Iori was exhausted. That's the impression I got. If Kyo can't take blood Iori out(which I don't think he officially has yet) then I doubt Ash could do it toe-to-toe.

Guilty Gears animation quality is uneven, i've spotted a lot of poorly drawn frames, and the animations really don't have that many inbetweens but they can get away with it cuz its so fast.

Domna7,94 and 98 looks to old,The King of Fighters XII LOOK WAAAAAAYYYYYYY better,and I do mean wayyyyyyyy better and the hits has improve greatly,they even turn around when they get hit they improve that a whole lot,but I only agree with you on one thing,the speed does seem slow but at the same time it seem more realer and not so light and fake so yeah,This one is better.
sincerely this kof (i played since 94, and the 98 is the best so far, looks good, but i kind of thinking that the speed of the game is too slow, also we have the impression that when we hit, we are hiting something lol....i hope they will do something about that. And whats more, i hope the system of fighting is innovative and pleasant as the graphics are ^^.
hey as a 2d fighting game fan (mostly snk games,.. some street fighter) i'm looking forward to both this and streeth fighter, more this though.. sf just isn't as creative as kof

I love this game, however being 2008 i would think a 2d game would look much better than this. if 3d games have evolved alot, i dont think why not 2d games can evolve also. Dont get me wrong i will still play and buy this game, i just think that companies are not giving all they got when it comes to 2d games.
Compared to seeing in the pics the game moves like shit. I agree with you. The sprites look good as hell but the animations leave a little to much to be desired. I looks like its on the right path though and i hope in the upcoming months they adress a lot of the hit velocities and speed of the game.
I've been waiting for someone to deliver a high res 2d fighter for the longest - and I knew SNK would bring the goods. LET IT BE HEARD! We'll see my friend... We'll see!

there were better looking games, guilty gear has fluid animation. it was just really fast so you couldn't really tell.
but i do believe KOF12 is the best looking 2d fighter ever.

Guilty Gear animation didn't require as much fluidity. You're probably right in that Street Fighter has the most fluidity.
KOF XII looks incredible though; stage design wise, I think BlazBlue takes the cake.

Mark of the Wolves had some great high quality animation as well, KOF 12 is kind of a progression of that style of animation.
