  • i ponly clicked because of troy in the thumbnail

  • putting that douchebag from alien ant farm in with other ACTUAL metal band singers is a travesty. you people should be ashamed of yourselves. dryden mitchell's throat would burst into flames half-way through one mastodon song.

  • where the FUCK is phil anselmo?!?! i love troy sanders and mastodon, but seriously how could this exist and not have phil in it?!

  • @SuperToother Because he didn't want to be in it?

  • Wheres Trevor Strnad?

  • i'm buying this for Chino Moreno

  • what song is playing at the beginning ??

  • Um what's that song they're playing at the beginning and at the end?

  • Im sry...I....I only clicked on the vid because I saw Troy...dont hate

  • None of the people in this video scream...

Mastadon?,,,,more like shouting and trying to sing...

  • @Samplelord

i have one answer to that friend. AQUA DEMENTIA

  • @Burnzy494959

Thanx dude...I am not that familiar with Mastodon....consider my comment null and void.

  • @Samplelord

What would be your example of screaming? Just curious. Because screaming comes in multiple styles. I mean, old school James Hetfield is a screamer too.

  • @Clike666ness

Old school Hetfield like Tom Araya are more shouters, has a more hardcore vibe to it and you can still hear some kind of pitch.

Screaming, to me, is singin in a toneless voice that is your own...with that I mean no mic cupping, inhale screaming, distortion effect, etc.....simply put, the volume of your scream should be as loud/little louder than your clean singing voice.

  • @Samplelord

Ah that kind of scream. I see Araya and Hetfield(young) as screaming as well. Because screaming a high pitch tone IMO.

  • @Clike666ness

Your right, they both did scream in the early day's ( cant believe I forgot those long screams).....although not through the whole song.

But they are examples of screaming without "tricks" and were the first to do that high pitched scream in metal....

  • @Samplelord

But they are a different technique tho. They did a more natural kind of scream. It was there own voice. Most commonly used scream nowadays is a forced change of voice. I prefer the more old way of screaming.

  • I seem to remember constant cold's messing with my screaming more than my voice going out. Does the video offer advice for that?

  • enter the free singing contest on our page.. prizes!

  • There are many sources out there to help people to learn how to scream.

I have been teaching "screaming techniques" for over 30 years. Many of my students realize that the screams in their low voices, middle voices and high voices are made in the same place and can now scream without any discomfort. Taking voice lessons, watching other sources and reading are the best steps to finding your own scream voice.

  • I just got zen of screaming 1 & 2 and after training on my own something just switched in my mind and i could scream with my own voice... i'm still training trying to get to lower and higher pitches and i'm really thankfull to Melissa Cross. It worked for me but i don't think it'll work for everyone since nobody has the same way of thinking.

Anyway I'm really happy that i can scream and experience all different types of screaming. As i am in a band i told myself that i had to work out my voice

  • what's with all these shit scene bands?

  • Hey,

I've got both Melissa Cross ZOS 1 & 2, and also the Art of Screaming on DVD- I'm also a trained singer, had vocal lessons for several years (I know all the basic exercises). However, I still can't scream! It's either just the quiet, false chord "fry"...but that doesn't sound like screaming to me...when I try and put that into yelling, it still catches in the throat. I want to learn to scream like Marilyn Manson (but I'm a female vocalist) Anyone got any advice?

  • @blacksummerland

If you want to learn to scream and since you are a trained singer the best advice is get a teacher to guide you. Sometimes when you are a trained singer you might worry about hurting your voice. But I can guide you if you really want to learn. Many of my students come to me with the same problem. Susan Carr

  • @theartofscreaming

    Hello Susan!

Thank you for replying -I just tried to scream again (with your DVD) an hour ago and feel my throat didn't really like it...

I'd love to learn from you, I've been wanting to learn to scream for years!

I'm just not sure how this could be arranged as I live in the UK...

  • @theartofscreaming

P.S. I'm a native German and it's interesting how you mentioned on your DVD that the "Nacht" "ch" sound is ideal for screaming (feel like a failed German here, because I can't scream haha:) )

But "Nicht" is actually pronounced differently - more like the word "ich" where the "ch" is much softer....so maybe that's where I'm getting confused as well?

  • @theartofscreaming I love mastadon.. but all these screams suck...good screams? Asking alexandria, Whitechapel, Operation Guillotine... guess which one of them has thrown there voice out?... none?

  • @theartofscreaming I love mastadon.. but all these screams suck...good screams? Asking alexandria, Whitechapel, Operation Guillotine... guess which one of them has thrown there voice out?... none

  • Troy saunders (the mastodon guy) is the coolest Jew on earth period.

  • @Tdrummer888 HAHA for sure

  • I'm just a beginner in this screaming stuff, so what does the "art of screaming" offers me to make it more attractive than the "zen of screaming"???

  • mastodon only good band!

  • NO MAN OF THE FLESH CAN EVER STOP ME

  • @TheRzarectah THE FIGHT FOR THE FISH IS A FIGHT TO THE DEATH!

  • Let it be known that there are many resources, many teachers before Ms. Cross who have been teaching techniques of screaming. Look at their background, their education, their students. Then you make a decision. The Art of Screaming is no clone. Susan Carr has her own techniques.

  • is this another clon of melisas zen of screaming ?

  • does anyone here own this dvd?

my question is: Is it like Melissa Cross's dvd that there is a bunch of singers praising her teaching style and only little 'real' instructions?

Or can you really LEARN something from this one? ;-)

  • hes in a freakin robe!

  • word! lmao

  • you can't teach how to sound like randy blythe...no one can even come close to remotely sounding like him

  • lol name one singer who can scream like randy

  • when you scream, you should b able to relax your throat, then u will be able to scream however you like, for a longer period, but if you're new, drink alot of water between the songs. it's like a muscle, u just need to learn how to control it. but don't tighten the throat all the time or u'll just end up fucking your voice over...=)

  • When you watch the DVD you will see that the most important lesson to be learn is to use the muscles of the abdominals as well as the thighs as well as the muscles around the knee caps for the highest notes in your register, then you will never engage the muscles of your throat.

  • @theartofscreaming what, thighs and kneecaps?

  • Troy is a beast

  • Troy's yalmukah looks cute. Haha XD

  • :D but it dosent crow so much yet ;'( i dont know why :D

  • i wanna have troy sanders beard

  • So do I

  • How much is troy sanders on there, for all of you who have seen the dvd?

I really want to sing like him, but I end up fuckin ripping up my throat and not even souning good

  • there is no actual content from the DVD though its just a advertisement this isnt even a teaser cuz im not really wondering what is going on inside that DVD.

  • i can hit the notes i wanna hit but wen i really wanna push em out wit a scream all i get is air, if that makes any sense..will this dvd help? im ususlly singing phil anselmos stuff

  • wow this isnt ripping off of the ZEN of screaming at all.

  • @marklar1692

Zen of Screaming did go into HOW to scream actually, it was just warm ups...

  • so umm.. has these thing linked to the torrents yet?

  • troy looks like the dealer in pulp fiction

  • LMAO

  • Hahaha, why is Troy Sanders wearing a bathrobe?

  • why isn't Troy Sanders wearing a bathrobe?

    haha

  • Or, why shouldn't he be wearing a bathrobe?

  • exactly!!!

  • Alien Ant Farm - Bad Morning............it`s the same one from the beggining

  • Can anyone tell me the name of the very last song on this trailer please? I'm digging the guitar in that!

  • someone told me about this, but this trailer is not at all impressive. There's no preview of the actual content in the DVD, just some band testimonials. Shame on whoever edited this trailer. It is of no help to potential customers

  • hey, can i get this dvd in germany?

    thanks

  • have you got any advise on inwards growling, growling on inhales? should i base it in my base and pelvis?

  • i wouldn't recommend inward growling at all. you can SERIOUSLY damage your throat that way. plus, there's not really a lot of people that do that anyway. not to my knowledge anyhow. personally, i think it's kind of cheating...

  • all of you sucks

  • Hey, I've been looking into instructional DVDs for screaming/metal vocals. The thing is, I can't scream very well, at all. Every time I do I wind up completely thrashing my throat, no matter how much I try to relax it and just push from the diaphragm. Will this teach me how to scream, or just teach me how to prevent the damage from screaming? Because this isn't a matter of me sounding good screaming but leaving in pain, its me sounding like shit and feeling even worse. Will this DVD help?

  • First of all the DVD makes you scream by using the "abdominal muscles." It will show you very specific exercises and where the "scream" is produced. People who have tried these exercises understand where the scream is located and have correctly started to scream within 20 minutes. The DVD will give you a visual experience and simple ideas for you to start screaming without hurting your voice.

  • Man i had the same problem for years, i really fucked my singin voice up 4m screamin wrong and then tryin 2 sing 2. I only mastered it recently but wen u get it ul no coz it doesnt hurt at all.

  • Yes he is! Thanks!

  • Troy is the king\,,/
