Thank you for a very informative video. I appreciate the bonus stuff on the window motor, as both my central lock solenoid and one of my window motors are shot.
How did you remove the door panel, I have a 2003 F250 that is giving me a door open alarm. I assume it is that connector you played with to get the ignition bell to ring.. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

I have the same door lock actuator problem with my 2000 Excursion and toss in a weak passenger front door power window motor in there as well.....cant wait to start that little project this coming weekend.... But I do love my Excursion and I will take that door lock problem from Ford over that sticking gas pedal thing from Toyota any day
DAMN I WAS SELLING THEM FOR $29.99 NEW AND ORIGINAL lol. THIS ACTUATORS SUCK LOL BUT THEY MAKE ME MONEY LOL I HAD TO REPLACE THEM IN MY EXCURSION AS WELL
There is a small resistor inside the actuator housing that was put there to prevent the motor from burning up when your little kids go gremlin on the door locks unfortunately the resistor is weak and fails so it keeps the locks in "low power" I just took mine out and repaired them.... work perfect and I spend no money.
That sounds about the right price, I think thats actually a little on the cheap side to replace all of the actuators. Is that oem or aftermarket price?
How do you like Ford Excursion in general, is it a reliable vehicle? I want to by a suv and use it for towing trailers (no more than 10k). I know that F250 & F350 can pull much more, but they are trucks meaning commercial and I would have to stop at weight stations, which I don't want to do. So, have you had any problems with engine or transmission, or anything major on your excursion. I've read many negative opinions about Ford Diesels, especially 6.0L Powerstrokes but some say the Fords areOK
Well, in my opinion, the Ford Excursion is an awesome vehicle. About Ford diesel engines, Navistar makes the engines. The 7.3 is considered one of the most durable diesel engines available. A friend of mine had an F-250 with 425,000 miles on his 7.3 and counting. However, Navistart ruined their reputation with the 6.0. The 6.4 is very powerful, but a huge fuel hog. As for us, the only problem we had with the 7.3 was the cam sensor. That's it.
We have 172,000 miles on it currently, and it works and runs like new. Recently, we pulled an 8,000 pound trailer 300 miles, and averaged 15 MPG at an average of 75 MPH on interstate highway. We did have one major problem with the vehicle, and that was the transmission. When my mom was new with trucks and towing trailers, she blew the transmission after pulling a trailer load of horses in overdrive and not maintaining a high enough engine RPM. Big no no! Other than that, it's been perfect.
6.0L is a great engine with a few parts. Bug thing is the head studs need to be replaced. Once that's done its a great engine and you can start modding it. There are a couple other small negatives but nothing as serious as the head studs I can think of.
the 6.0 L powerstroke isnt as bad as its reputation. if youre just gonna go with a simple chip, intake and exhaust dont worry about it. but if you want to heavily modify your truck is where the 6.0L is bad. if you want a heavily modded 6.0 your gonna need to replace the headstuds, and get and EGR delete. those are the only major problems i can think of. other than that the 6.0 and 7.3 are amazing motors.
I have a Ford Excursion V10 6.8L (wish I had the 7.3 but couldn't afford the diesel) and I love it. I also had the same problem with the door locks. Other than that, its been a great vehicle. I'm the original owner, have had it for 9 years and 150K miles. I've been towing a 8500 lb toy hauler every summer and she's still going strong.
dude just buy an acuator for about $5.00 bucks connect the blue and green wire and mount the actuator talk about making money somebody call 911 lol peace out mytints
Very good observation. Yes, that plastic part that pops up and down needs to be adjusted. It's supposed to be about a quarter inch above the door panel.
that window is called a siscor (spelled wrong) i had to have just that bar the window sits on replace when it fell out of track $250 and you thought locks were expensive (lol), and they would only sell the part to a dealership so with labor it was $350.
i got to replace the one on my dads explorer on the drivers door only, it gets stuck, the u play with the handle then unlock again and it finally opens...lol
Good video. It's actually door lock Actuators. Did both on my old man's truck and have yet to do both on mine. Once you get the hang of it, every other door is a breeze and takes a matter of minutes. One thing I love about the Super Dutys / Excursions is the ease of removing the door panel for either speaker replacement or wiring the new mirrors I put in. Good job, it does save alot of money when you DIY!
great work Daniel my dads f-150 doesn't have power locks but this is how I pictured ford had the door ajar sensor routed on. my dads sticks a little in the wind and the light stays on for a couple of seconds and wont shut off till you pull the door tigher but now I know how that sensor looks minus the lock servo.
nice video Daniel, and i like when people do stuff on there own, and when people show someone else how to do something, so many people figure,,,, its too difficult, i won't bother, i will just get the dealer to fix it, that is really sad, so many people can do there own repairs and save big!, also i would try the auto wreckers for some used locks for the rest of the doors, my dad's 1984 mustang gt just needed a drivers side window motor this past summer, the factory one gave up the ghost
nothing beats new parts, but i bet you can score some cheap motors (servo lock) from the local auto wreckers, do some phone calls, and i bet Ford put the same servo lock in a few other models? possibly explorer? you should look into it, i know a excursion is rare at the wreckers, but the superduty's and other Ford trucks and suv's and possibly cars use the same part, you can get it for less than 50,and then you have all 4 doors working again, also does the rear door power lock still work?
u can save a few hundred on this repair when u do it yourself..nice work. as a mechanic i like to see people saving money on repairs when they can do things on there own.
I believe you have to take it to a dealer. They have equipment that they can use to retrieve or change those codes. Just make sure you have the title for your vehicle for proof of ownership.
Yep Thats the only way I've found to do it. Figured it was worth a try asking you. You're supposed to have the factory PIN stamped on the Owner's Manual but my friend who needs it does not. Thanks, Daniel.

Does the door lock marker, plastic part that pops up and down actually disappear down in the hole when locked or was an adjustment just needed?
