Can someone please tell me whether maternity leave (in countries where it applies normally) covers adoption.

I suppose the answer essentially deals with whether leave is usually for physical recovery of the mother and or bodning. Which is it?

I don't know about whether it is specifically for bonding or physical recovery, but I think that if you adopt and a company doesn't allow maternity leave to be with your baby you should call a lawyer. They better not discriminate between a bio and an adoptive mom in that way.

All I'm saying is that there are good and bad side of adopting Children from foreign country, cuz you do not know if person is human trafficing or behind certain political motives

When working with the Chinese government, which all US agencies are required to do, you have to ask, "what would motivate them to 'traffic' (buying babies from poor mothers) infants into the US?" There are more than 4 million girls in orphanages alone, it's a crisis.

They will spend the most formative years of their lives neglected - a condition that creates sensory integration and attachment issues. When an adoptive family is united with one of these orphans - not trafficked, but wasting in orphanages - the world is created for that little girl. She will be rescued from a later life of sex trade, meaningless factory work and psychological and learning disabilities.

It's very noble and benevolent of people to adopt unwanted children and orphans. I hope that you and all the other parents will allow and guide your Mei An and their adopted children to grow up at least bilingual (Both the adopted parents' and the child's national/ethnic languages) and to learn about their heritage for them to become well-rounded people who will have the best of both worlds.
