Donkey Kong Country Hack [How long do you clearly take?]

Is there a way where I could put a similar character animation from a different game and replace or add that character in this game? Like maybe Mario or Spider-man from other 2D platforming games with similar graphics? and Maybe replace the music with some tracks from DKC 2 through Hacks? If so, how do I do it? Any advice anyone?
