Oh yeah, I also forgot the reason why Japan looks so cute. It's all because of all the flaws and problems we have in our country (as I mentioned before). To be more happy, and forget about the bad things, we create cuteness and shit like that. However, only stupid people can forget the problems. Oh, and Japanese girls aint that innocent as they look. I am japanese. Let me tell you guys, IAMCOWOMAN is correct. Japan is one of the hardest countries to live in. Why is the suicide rating so high in my country? Well, School, Society, Jobs and things like that. You're lucky if you get a decent job here, your lucky if you finish school, you're hella lucky if you get into the society. Bullying is a huge problem too here. Japan has a front figure as cute, but underneath it, its just a pain in the ass. So, people, stop dreaming, open your eyes.

@D33JNES Suicide rate is high, but that's partially because of Japanese culture accepting suicide(except when it impacts others). You don't mention how clean Japan is, how the people are generally ultra-courteous, unemployment is pretty low(partially due to make work jobs), recycling is mandatory and universal, creature comforts abound, service sector work is high quality, the food is better, etc etc etc. I'd rather live in Japan than most other "1st world" countries.

I spent 3 months with my family that are native Japanese and my cousin Chiharu got double eyelid surgery because she's a gyaru. I luckily was born with naturally big eyes which is actually kind of rare for us Japanese.

Stuff like anime and manga has ruined Japan's beautiful image, in my opinion. And it's amazing at how many people actually believe that what is being marketed is what Japan is ONLY about; that it's filled with only gorgeous, petite Asians, that every girl dresses in lolita and acts like a child, and that everything is like what they watch in anime or read in manga. It's sad indeed.

I tend to think it's part of a larger issue of systemic sexism in Japanese society - a kind of self-reinforced "positive" sexism.

@MusingsOfAZombie Yes, Japanese is a simple language. But the Japanese script writing is also simple... these's very very little to learn to write and the symbols are simple and bubbly. It's the Chinese symbols that were much more recently added to the Japanese language that are difficult. But pronunciation is something that's very good and simple, qnd makes up for the Chinese symbols... there's very little to learn to pronounce.
