I read an article on lasers a while ago and they reckon the issue with lasers is (apart from the huge amount of power and the lack of transportability) is the lack of effectiveness in the RAIN!!...makes sense when you thibnk about it because the water "spheres" displace the beam.
@RogueRotting360 Last I checked those were 40mm dummy grenades, but I'm not 100% sure, the whole metal storm line comes in multiple calibers though, from 9mm developments, to artillery sized calibers.
Actually it's just tested in the outback. It's an American invention. See a Mr. Arthur Schatz. He has business ties with Austalia and moved the testing there from it's contructions site in Virginia(USA). But now its a multi-national weapons system. I think that's a good thing!
it annoys me how in australia, the army never backs these sorts of things. so we have to part sell it to the yanks all the time.

yeh very true sooo lasers dont sond like a possibility but what about energy shots like bursts of destructive energy without the use of amnunition
