@SuperBIGTEL omg exactly ive been watching this movie since i was a kid and i didnt until recently start realizing the subliminal messages in it. My friend and I were laughing about how Wonka basically killed almost everyone w/o even touching them
Honestly, I like the 2005 Willy Wonka (Johnny Depp) than this (Gene Wilder). But I <3 this song and Gene Wilder's voice, and I listen to it many times before I go to sleep.
I love this song, but sorry, I dont think so about the film, because Roal Dahl was not so happy whith this moovie. My name as a singer is Ana Wonka...
I love this song, and have ever since the movie came out. However, the artist is not Anthony Newley, but Gene Wilder, whose voice has just the right mix of gentleness, innocence and deep wisdom in it to make it attractive to almost any child or adult.
Maybe it's just me, but I don't think there's anything wrong with liking both the glee version and the original. Glee is my favorite TV Show, but Gene Wilder is my favorite actor. I do like the Glee version, but this version is my favorite.
I'm not here because of Glee...I'm here because my drama group is doing this movie, and we all have to sing this...my crush is playing Willy Wonka...can't wait to hear him sing!
As usual, a "kids" program with messages that apply to adults...And now the tables have turned I wonder, and I wonder who else wonders...But, if I pick the message up as this now...When I was a kid watching this...did my parents lament in the message too? Only difference is, I have no family to raise to hold me back...
@KongoXIIV *sigh* Also reminds me of better times with a friend. :-(
OK...What gives about childhood that's so much better than adulthood? How can one put a stamp on the world this way? Ah...I'm just babbling now...that's what this song does ha ha!
This was played at my twins assembly at nursery while we looked at photos of all the children just playing and being happy, all the mams filled up, its such a beautiful song
i love this song so much i wish i could stop living in fear of the world. I wish i could live in a chocolate factory. Roald dahl is the best author ever. This is one of my favorite books ever.
@sixtyforce64 I did come here because I like the original. But "Homosexual" shouldn't be used as a synonym of dumb, crap, awful, gaudy, dreadful (all of which may well fit the fox remix..) Its offensive. But I agree with you.
@CptSmokeAlot Err... no we didn't? Just because ignorant people thought gay people had a mental problem does not make it true. It's not a problem and being gay does not make you "clinically insane"- now or years ago.
@TheFallen7fold actually it was a mental illness to be a homosexual so being clinically insane whether or not the diagnosis is accurate does not take away from being labeled clinically insane and therefore being clinically insane it does not mean you ARE insane just insane from a clinical practitioner's point of view? I dont see why you people get all antzy in the pantzies anyway you only give those people fuel for the fire if you dont want it to happen anymore quit reacting
i cry when i hear this song because it's beautifull. this is a song that only people with pure heart could understand. . i wish i could escape the F*cked up world we live in. This is a song and a movie that will never be old or outdated
Everyone I know and everyone who has every seen the original movie....if we could combine our childhood memories that this song evokes...I would bet all the chocolate in the world that that idea would produce one, simple but wonderful thing:
Pure imagination.
I will show this movie to my kids, to my grandkids, so this perfect song will never die.
OH MY GOD THE BANKERS SONG....... remember?? we were all singing this a few years ago in Ireland... its that fu*king chocolate tasting !!!! we were spiked lads!!!!!
@1butterflykisses2-I agree, they say the remake was truer to the book but I'll take this version any day. It's so much more light-hearted and charming!
I love this song. I grew up watching this movie it saddens me that the new generations don't even know about the first version. another thing is that everyone here thinks that the good days are over because you're no longer & and therefore not everything is possible
i totally love this song!! im doin the muisical at my school (im veruca :) im TOTALLY jealous of the guy who plays willy wonka cause he gets to sing this song
I wish the new one was as good as the old one. Now these little kids are looking up to Johnny Depp [Not that i have anything against him hes a good actor and all] and oompa loompa's that rap. the new one isn't half as good as the old one
@palmpje11 WHAT?? How old are you? The new movie is terrible compaiered to this one! :D you should watch the original, its very different, much simpler and more inocent, but brilliant
Wow...I remember being a kid, and though I wasn't around when it came out., I always looked at this movie as a new, fantastic and magical. Damn you commercials for destroying my childhood!
