Bands like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Moody Blues, Traffic, etc. are simply impossible in America. The US did produce some good 1970's folk rock though.

The music a 'folk' or 'people' create depends on their history, geographical circumstances, their aspirations, philosophical inclinations and socio-political disposition. American Rock is different to English Rock. If you're American, you'd be inclined to enjoy American art, but not exclusively. English influences reach beyond English borders because it touches so many peoples lives culturally/historically

The Final Cut is an amazing album too but a bit different imo. Finally, if you feel you need more get the rest of their albums. While I am much more of a David Gilmour fan than a Roger Waters fan, I have to admit that the albums with both Waters and Gilmour are some of the most incredible Floyd creations.
