My two pals were exactly 8.5 months old at the time of the attack. The two brothers one was 67 lbs and his brother was 82 lbs.
The Pitt filth was 77 lbs and being run behind a pickup as the puck owner was too lazy to do other, I beat it off the 67 lb with a shovel almost instantly. His brother the 82 lber could only bark with legs forward, as he was too Young!
Today the bigger one is 101 lbs but will instantly assault any aggressive dog, but is friendly!,. Victim is 80 lbs scars, friendly!
RR are hounds and makes life and death decisions on its own. You don't beat this dog into submission otherwise you'll break it and they will be useless. Firm positive training. Once the dog accepts you as a competent leader its pure joy. If they are interested in checking something out they turn off their hearing and this never goes away.
My dog is rhodesian ridgeback, bocker mix something, something, maybe lab, he is incredibly affectionate, verbal, cuddly , don't want any other kind of dog, I'm sold. He's not very big though, and dumber than rocks.
Im south african and i can say with all honesty their is no way any dog can hunt a lion.
they where used at a time when hunting rifles where weak to bait and cönfuse the lion while the owner killed the lion from close quarters. And you call yourself an expert (-:
Ridgebacks work best with positive reinforcment training (vs coercion
101 % correct any one saying other wise don't know what they are talking about any training any other way means the dog is leashed and caged all the time IMO and experience.
I have two 18 month old brothers, each is unique too, and they get along 100% perfectly, even amazingly.
They are a senstive dog to their surrounding and will notice anyting new or out of place.
They are guard dogs, tracking dogs, and alert dog, but they are not attack dogs.
My two were attacked by a 4 year old Pitbull when they just turned 9 months old on private property by my garage with me standing by them. Suprised me, I never had seen the pit bull or its owner in my life.
