My dad had a small business -- a gas station/auto repair business. He did very well -- despite many difficulties. But he had to work 50-60 hours per week. I helped him with his book work, pumped gas, and cleaned his station on weekends. I enjoyed working with him and learning that small businesses are national treasures.
@eastariel Thanks man I appreciate that a lot! I also have a boy who is 16 and hoped that he'd take it all over for me but I'm not sure now, trying to hang on. Sadly its not just my kid I worry about its the e mployees who are laid off. I had 3 regular and atleast 3 other seasonal guys and all have been out of work cept for one and he only got 20 hours a week up til this last week and now he's even in the food line again. I work about the same or more, well into the night during my hardd season.

I know and or have worked for all of the larger const companies in town (I dont mow grass I build landscapes mostly) and they are all dead in the water because all development and new const has died. I have an all phase landscape plus backflow test license, a very broad necessary field actually - And still its dead because the customers just are not there. Lately I have been mowing and have not dont that in over 25 years.
I went to the Home and Garden Show last winter, where many landscapers set up displays. Many offer garden centers where people come to buy plants, then hire landscapers from the garden center.
In my neighborhood, many people hire landscapers, especially senior citizens. Landscapers help them stay in their homes without having to move to assisted living. Then neighbors ask, who's your landscaper? And they spread the word.
Maybe the senior citizen market or a garden center?

Yea the garden shows and all are great. We have a big one locall each year but a booth costs a lot of money. The senior thing is a really good mention. I will most likely gear myself towards more maint work even though the money isnt half as good it keeps the business alive. I'm fully equipped to mow and all of it but mostly have paver saws, plate compactors and all now. I need to sell then buy some things:-)
I don't do anything for a living. My husband goes to work and pays the bills, and I stay home and work for free (chores and etc.).
I just have fun giving advice, whether it's asked for or not.
I wish I had more advice for you. I guess prayer always helps. When I pray to God, sometimes wise and loving solutions come into my mind in answer, in a presence that feels more wise and loving than me.
Maybe a miraculous solution will appear to you -- and bring you some new answers. :)

You know what I mean. The website is pretty new, I'll definately consider some improvements like you mention and did get some more images to put up I just havent gotten to it yet. The local parks projects are hard to get, lots of competition. I have a few high end customers who'd allow me a sign:-)

Instead of making your Government always PAY DOWN the national debt....
Walk your Bonds in to any TREASURY office, and say you want to put them down as a DOWNPAYMENT for that something better.

My dad had a small business -- a gas station/auto repair business. He did very well -- despite many difficulties. But he had to work 50-60 hours per week. I helped him with his book work, pumped gas, and cleaned his station on weekends. I enjoyed working with him and learning that small businesses are national treasures.

@eastariel Thanks man I appreciate that a lot! I also have a boy who is 16 and hoped that he'd take it all over for me but I'm not sure now, trying to hang on. Sadly its not just my kid I worry about its the e mployees who are laid off. I had 3 regular and atleast 3 other seasonal guys and all have been out of work cept for one and he only got 20 hours a week up til this last week and now he's even in the food line again. I work about the same or more, well into the night during my hardd season.

I know and or have worked for all of the larger const companies in town (I dont mow grass I build landscapes mostly) and they are all dead in the water because all development and new const has died. I have an all phase landscape plus backflow test license, a very broad necessary field actually - And still its dead because the customers just are not there. Lately I have been mowing and have not dont that in over 25 years.

I went to the Home and Garden Show last winter, where many landscapers set up displays. Many offer garden centers where people come to buy plants, then hire landscapers from the garden center.
In my neighborhood, many people hire landscapers, especially senior citizens. Landscapers help them stay in their homes without having to move to assisted living. Then neighbors ask, who's your landscaper? And they spread the word.
Maybe the senior citizen market or a garden center?

Yea the garden shows and all are great. We have a big one locall each year but a booth costs a lot of money. The senior thing is a really good mention. I will most likely gear myself towards more maint work even though the money isnt half as good it keeps the business alive. I'm fully equipped to mow and all of it but mostly have paver saws, plate compactors and all now. I need to sell then buy some things:-)

I just have fun giving advice, whether it's asked for or not.
I wish I had more advice for you. I guess prayer always helps. When I pray to God, sometimes wise and loving solutions come into my mind in answer, in a presence that feels more wise and loving than me.
Maybe a miraculous solution will appear to you -- and bring you some new answers. :)

@eastariel I do appreciate the direction though, my attitude has been bad and it does reflect on my business. Luckily I'm not dealing with many customers right now:-) Wait I said that wrong lol... You know what I mean. The website is pretty new, I'll definately consider some improvements like you mention and did get some more images to put up I just havent gotten to it yet. The local parks projects are hard to get, lots of competition. I have a few high end customers who'd allow me a sign:-)

@btwall60 Thanks for the compliments, I accept. I've often felt so disillusioned on this UTube forum thinking America has lost its brain or perhaps never had one. I believe its the forum, not always the sharpest tacks, gather in this box . Many R ignorant, meaning uninformed, I also believe politicians play off that ignorance . Obama is a clever fellow who imbibed hatred of America with his mother’s milk, worked his way up the ladder of education & career.
He shares resentment of Muslims against the encroachment of American culture, although not their religion. Hes lives with his subjects, learns their language & elicits their hopes & fears & remains at a emotional distance. He's equivalent of a sociopath. This is not necessarily a bad condition if one maintains for oneself what the psychiatrists call an optimal margin of illusion, that is, the margin of hope that allows U to work. But what if his narcissism blinds him to the issues & problems in the world & the inveterate foes of the nation that R not susceptible to his charms?

@btwall60 Narcissism is the occupational disability of politicians, as paranoia is of spies, Churchill admitted his immodesty by averring if he were modest, he would have been perfect. If Obama has a personality disorder, I believe he does, it doesn’t quite fit narcissistic personality disorder. Narcissists do not empathize easily, but evidence suggests Obama exudes empathy. He belong to the same cluster of personality disorders arising from a excessive sense of self importance!

Gorelick was one of Fannie executives who benefited from inflated bonuses, Enron type accounting.
In 03 she reported, We believe we R managed safely, Very pleased that we have a A-minus in the area of bank financial strength
A yr later Fannie M. accused of improper accounting to the tune of $9 billion in unrecorded losses.

Here's a man that is a brilliant President, whom all of the USA should be proud to call their leader. Not just because he's the first black president of the US but because he is truly an inspiring figure to look up too, and will go down in history. But also, he's a leader who is also so good humored and freely jokes when it comes to the fact that part of the country didn't even want to admit he was American. I wish the UK could have a leader like him, not a hated one like David Cameron.

I believe that business should not be allowed to make profits for Themselves or their shareholders.
