  • Hi, I'm Mr. Physics here to explain this amazing pitch.

For those that don't know, The split finger pitch has really slow spin out of the hand compared to any other pitch (besides the knuckleball).

Sometimes even, it has random top-spin tumble rotation.

Since it's thrown with fastball arm-speed it gets near the plate in a hurry.

Since it does not have backspin of a fastball, it dives downward at the most inconvenient moment for the batter.

  • 2:46 wtf, thats a super windup!

  • @vasDcrak Thats Nomo! He was the shit man!

  • Motorhead~~~~~~!!!!

  • this just works when the batters dnt have discipline mosk of the k's where 0 and 2 counts good job on the pitchers to eat them up with the pitch though :D

  • lmao @ 1:21

    He almost killed himself

  • 0:25 boc?

  • its the young matzuzaka!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i still think that the nastiest split-finger fastball i've ever seen is Bruce Sutton, if there is a video on youtube or anything of it, you'll see what i mean, if not, watch MLB Network, it might show up on there when they do a prime 9 top closers thing (and he was a closer during the 3 inning save era, so he wasnt a pansy like most of the closers these days, lol, i say that but i can barely get through throwing 40 to 60 pitches myself, hahaha)

  • @douggoud You mean Bruce Sutter. Sutter's split finger pitch looked like a beach ball until it got in front of the plate at 83mph and took a nose dive. It helped that he had huge hands.

  • I watched Roy Face pitch. Real dirty forkball, unhittable at times. The splitter is only effective if you can throw heat making a it sort of a change up.

  • i can throw a nasty splitter

  • I like the style of the pitchers in the video, the stoppage in the windup is as cool as the movement of these pitches

  • Excellant footage of filthy forkballs and splitters. A good splitter will be with 7 mph of their fastball making the pitch very difficult to pick up.

  • japanese pitchers are the best

  • @PRIETTITOOO in Japanese professional baseball I am sure that Japanese pitchers are the best. Outside of that, not so much.

  • @jdlund look at the batters there facing though

  • 0:27 - Matsui?

  • @FredGuadalupe haha that's matsui alright. you can tell from his swing,

  • how about american

  • 4:15

  • isnt yu darvish's forkball/splitter like 91 mph?

  • 0:17にパームって・・・いえなんでもないです
