The sad truth is, pokemon became worse with every generation. Nintendo ran out of design ideas, I guess. They can't be even called pokemon anymore. Excuse me, a fridge? An ice-cream cone? the fuck?

And Pokemon based on inanimate objects is nothing new. Magnemite? Grimer? Eggsecute was just a bunch of eggs. In fact, what the f**k was Wobbufett suppose to be? Voltorb is just a living Poke Ball.

Compare to them, Pokemon like Trubbish and Vanillite are perfectly normal as Pokemon.

@Roareye That's only 2 Pokemon. All the rest are fine. Stop complaining. There's a bunch of Gen 1, 2, and 3 Pokemon that aren't based off of animals. And they still have animal based Pokemon in 5.

Deerling, Sawsbuck, Audino, Woobat&Swoobat, Tympol, its evolutions (some of them I named are based off of other real creatures), the list goes on.

Change is good. (well in this case..) Nintendo always changes things up to keep their games fresh and new.

@Roareye you complain about Nintendo running out of design ideas, yet i think they even ran out of design fuel on gen 1, for example: Magnemite, a magnet whose evolution is just +2 more. Same thing with Diglett and the same thing with Koffing. Grimer just turns into a bigger version of its original form and basically the same thing for Dratini, as it just evolves into a longer version with a few orbs and a horn added

Sure I would do it, but there's no point in that. They do it for little kids now, and with pokemon becoming more and more child friendly, everything changed. And, mind you, "every" generation? No. Just those |really| forced and made solely to achieve guaranteed profit on one of the more popular subjects among kids in those last years. It just doesn't feel like the inspiration is still there. It's an artist's view, and I feel sad for Pokemon, as now I think they should have "ended" long ago. And kids of today, watching Ben10 or whatever else America made to copy anime for intended financial gain, simply won't do. "Fans".

The problem is that you don't stand open for new innovations. Think about the evil teams, darker plots (starting from Generation III) and Legendary Pokémon with backstory.
