Great video! Probably the best I've seen on YouTube. Nice flying! How long have you been flying helicopters? I just got my commercial helicopter rating August 2nd! I've flown Schweizer 300C's, Enstrom F-28A's, Bell 47's, OH-58C Kiowa, Robinson R-22. I'd love to fly a Hughes/MD 500. Very nice video position... You can see everything so well. Stick, pedal movements and the instruments. It looks like you have a top notch instructor. Where is this? Thanks for posting!
Awesome vid! Thanks for posting. PIC on the left, OK, ... Is the Rotor/Engine RPM in one meter? Is the Rotor RPM to the left or right of the Engine RPM? Oh, turbine, so percent RPM or other power measure? Wish I had a turbine helicopter:-))
I am not a pilot, just a "helicopter enthusiast" - but I am puzzled by the way your artificial horizon reads during this video. It seems that usually u r tilted to the right (and that I can understand I think, mast is often tilted to the left if I remember right from some books), but you always seem to be in a slight nose down altitude - even when I'd be expecting that u give a slight back cyclic... Am I reading something wrong, or is there a reason for that?
good video

how do you afford to do stuff like this? especially an MD 500?
I struggle to make 1 flight every 2 weeks in a 300 CBI.
I can feel my dreams of flying around for the next 20 or so year slipping away. IF costs continue to slide up, I will be ejected from flight.

Has anyone told you that you look like the guy that flew that MD500 in the movie "Firebirds"

Very enjoyable vid... Who was the skinny Instructor? Hands on only when required?
Right boot hovering over the pedal... just in case? Good HD finish, by You Tube?

Great job on the video. This has to be some of the best shot as well as positioned video I've seen on YT.
Who is the trainer? I'm intrigued as to the depth he seems to go as many helo trainers are the generic type, to say the least.
Again---Nice job!!!

@marxg4 thanks.... My instructor always challenges me and allows me to make all the decisions based for the maneuvers....

@gshawnadams - Great job flying! I'm curious where you were flying in this video and what company provided your training. Thanks.

Nice! Cools to see all the instruments and the collective on the right! Gives an idea of how minimal and constant the inputs are! Very nice video!

Hey Shawn, its tyler. Is that ground effect or are you transitioning out of ETL at 1:12

@Helicopterpilot16 Not sure Tyler.. at 1:12 I was too high for any ground effect.
