I find this funny. Just because it is a Nintendo made game, the bar was that much higher. Now, if let's say EA made this game, it would have had a better reception. Look at the game for what it is, and you'll see it was good. Plus, if you are a true Metroid fan, you will understand the story. LOTS of background info needed.

This game really sucked in my opinion. I KNEW they were gonna fail when they fired Retro, mastermind of the Prime series (which holds the best FPS of all time, Metroid Corruption)

I wasn't talking about just story, but Prime 3's story was the worst because it was all meaningless. I mean Phazon in the end had NOTHING to do with ANYTHING else in the entire series. With how Prime 3 has things there could have been Dark Samus' popping up all over the place instead of it being the character that was built up throughout the series. And Prime's origins are still never given a clear-cut answer of any sort. Also how did Ridley survive Prime 3?
In Prime he survived due to his remains from 1/ Zero Mission being crafted into a cyborg. He was then recovered for Prime 3 as still Meta Ridley who became the Leviathan Guardian of the Pirate Homeworld. They have yet to explain how he came back in Super. Other than that he pretty much has an explanation for the rest of the series.

@XHolyPuffX I understand we all have a right to our opinions, but did you REALLY not like the plot, or just the voice acting and writing? When you think about it, the bad part about the story was the mopey monologues and cheesy attitude. Both can be attributed to voice and writing. I got over the cheesiness very quickly, but some people just can't stand that campy style. The actual plot was enjoyable for me, if not underdeveloped. The conclusions sort of fell flat, unfortunately.
I guess the writing and a little bit of the plot. I thought it was pretty good, but it didn't really last that long and also I didn't like the way the characters played out. It felt more like a "space marine shooter" than a Metroid game. I enjoyed the action sequences MUCH more than the actual story, which is rare for me.
I'm not saying the game sucked, I'm just saying I expected to be blown away and I wasn't.
Now nobody be mad or sad if other m wasn't was like you wanted it to be or if its not like the original games. Its good to start new things because think about it, would you want the metroid games to be the same thing over and over again? Nothing new about it?

to answer the mystery question, how can Samus turn into her Morph Ball...she was injected with alien DNA when she was orphaned by the aliens (Chozo) and that enabled her to become a thousand times better than a human, she was trained so well that her flexibility allows her to turn into a ball. Her power suit is controlled by her mind and soul.
i was also curious how the hell she fit in that lil ball so i read up onn it and thats what i found...shes a very interesting character, i love it.

I wish people would stop comparing Metroid to Halo. Thats like comparing apples and oranges. They're both first person (usually) and they both involve aliens, outerspace, and big badass suits. But that's it. The plot for both games is totally different, the controls are different, Metroid usually sticks to a few certain weapons while Halo has a bunch of different guns, tanks and ships, and Master Chief isnt a sexy woman that can contort into a ball and fire suit destroying lasers.
This game had a lot of great ideas but didn´t fully utilize them! I hope Other M sells enough coppies so they can make a direct sequel with the same gameplay design plus with improved gameplay. The biggest issues Other M had were:
- Too short
- Samus´ script
- Barely replay vallue
- Shitty puzzles.
Fix those Nintendo, and you got a new Metroid that stands worthy to Prime.

@hermosapeach Other m is a better choice, both games are linear but dark side chronicles wasn't too good for a resident evil game, it was much like umbrella chronicles, its good but doesn't compare to a game like other m or any of the other resident evil titles.

I wasnt talking about CoD dude, i was talking "in general".How does the publisher make the game better?How does a game with "nintendo" on the cover make it a better game than lets say Crysis 2?Actually, I find Bethesda, Bioware, Blizzard and Bungie to be the best devs out there.All 4 make outstanding games that will consume your social life.I have literally put over a hundred hours into Oblivion alone.

The Devs you mentioned above only have one game worth mentioning. And good ones at that too. But Nintendo have Mario, Zelda, Star Fox, Kirby, Metroid - and EACH and every one of those games has sold more than the games you mentioned above. BETTER game, well we might have an arguement over that, BUT I prefer these games, more than Crysis or whatever.

Metroid and star fox have sold more than Halo?Yea right.each halo games sells literally millions in less then its 24 hours of release.Do you know anything about these devs?Bioware has made the Dragon Age series, Mass Effect series, KoTOR and Jade empire.Blizzard have made Starcraft, Warcraft and Diablo.Bungie have made Halo and Marathon.And bethesda have made the The Elder Scrolls series(best RPG series ever) and fallout 3.And these are entire series, not just "one game"

LOL. Highest Selling Halo game is Halo 3 - 8.1 million. Alright, Maybe not metroid and star fox, but Mario outsold it, Zelda outsold it, Kirby, etcetc. Oh, and by the way, I can guarantee that Nintendo have sold more copies than each of the devs - Bioware, Blizzard and Bungie. Because they have been selling video games since the 80s, and their highest selling vgame is Mario Bros (70 million)

@xXCOD6Xx ....why? 3rd person games arent bad, i enjoyed playing Gears of War in 3rd person :P plus,in Other M, u go in 1st person when it's necessary, unlike in other games where FP is just plain annoying, the first Metroid games were side scrollers and where classics, if ur a true gamer, u would know that gameplay is wayyy more important than camera angles

@TheMovieMessiah Well ya i know 3rd person games arent bad i even play Gears of war 1 and 2 and i loved it but Other M's a different story the controls setup wasnt really that great because id be sitting there fighting a mini boss or something and id need to shoot a missle so i had to take time turning the controller when im getting hit then id have to take the time to turn the controller again just to move out of the way and that was just annoying and then the camera angels werent really in the

@TheMovieMessiah Best of places and kinda messed up where i was going and yes ive played all the side scrollers like Fusion,Super M,Metroid (Very First one) and the other ones and i loved them and all they have done for the modern consoles is FP and i think they should stick with that because i think they did good with that. @xXCOD6Xx im sick of FP, more than 85% of my Xbox and PS3 games are FP which is pretty sad, teh ycant do anything different or original anymore. i still think that if u wont buy it because of 1 small problem, wait, it's not even a problem, just because it's camera is different from the rest doesn't mean u should just cast it aside and not even try it, comparing the pros and cons for this game, i cant even name 1 con, so i dunno why u wont get it lol

to answer the mystery question, how can Samus turn into her Morph Ball...she was injected with alien DNA when she was orphaned by the aliens (Chozo) and that enabled her to become a thousand times better than a human, she was trained so well that her flexibility allows her to turn into a ball. Her power suit is controlled by her mind and soul.
i was also curious how the hell she fit in that lil ball so i read up onn it and thats what i found...shes a very interesting character, i love it.

I wish people would stop comparing Metroid to Halo. Thats like comparing apples and oranges. They're both first person (usually) and they both involve aliens, outerspace, and big badass suits. But that's it. The plot for both games is totally different, the controls are different, Metroid usually sticks to a few certain weapons while Halo has a bunch of different guns, tanks and ships, and Master Chief isnt a sexy woman that can contort into a ball and fire suit destroying lasers.

This game had a lot of great ideas but didn´t fully utilize them! I hope Other M sells enough coppies so they can make a direct sequel with the same gameplay design plus with improved gameplay. The biggest issues Other M had were:
- Too short
- Samus´ script
- Barely replay vallue
- Shitty puzzles.
Fix those Nintendo, and you got a new Metroid that stands worthy to Prime.
