@SergeantBean67 I've played every Halo game to date including the Reach Beta and will be getting Reach on Sept. 14. Halo however is the exception to the rule. Most game have good multiplayer and shit story or vise versa. Nintendo decided to stay with the tried and true method of having a well thought out and expansive single player experience. Not everyone likes playing multiplayer all the time. Having games with just story (FFXIII) is a nice break from the trend.

The thing that makes games comparable is the gameplay, not the settings or the stories or attire of people, crap like that has been unoriginal for years. Metroid is, if anything, a very fast paced shooter with a fair amount of puzzels. Halo is a more strategic actiony shooter with a competitive multiplayer... how does one compare that?

Lots of people have great opinions and this is mine, I think that games such as Doom and Wolfenstein opened the doorway and presented many basic capabilities for First Person Shooters, and I personally believe it was not a fully appreciated genre until Goldeneye came out, where many people praised the multiplayer and to this day playing the classic is still fun. I am probably jumping ahead here but when Call of Duty came out it made multiplayer more accessible and online FPS gaming more popular

I just think the space setting is whats going through Samus' mind/minds of the Chozo when they began to integrate their DNA into hers. That being said, this trailer could be depicting Samus' stasis and the destruction she has to put up with later in life.

Your example was actually bad,World of Warcraft and god of war are 2 different era,2 different genres,similarity is none.
while Metroid Prime and Halo DOES Has a lot of similarity as a matter of fact,they can be compared.
Both are 2 First person mode.
Both are characters that feels like using like some kind of space robot.
Both are from outer space theme
Both fights against aliens.
Thats why someone made a famous fanmade video of Samus vs Master Chief.

They're both 3rd person view, they both deal with Super naturalistic Godlike beings, which also makes them feel like using a mighty warrior,
They both take the fights with medieval type stuff like swords and spells, and after ridding the world of whatever it is your trying to kill, someone or something bigger decides to show up and piss everyone off.
I wouldn't at all be surprised if somewhere were to make a Kratos vs Lich King video.

@JunDageki Yeah, I made the exact same points for 2 other games completely different even though they both share the same view, as you used as your capital point. The thing that makes games comparable is the gameplay, not the settings or the stories or attire of people, crap like that has been unoriginal for years. Metroid is, if anything, a very fast paced shooter with a fair amount of puzzels. Halo is a more strategic actiony shooter with a competitive multiplayer... how does one compare that?

@IBrowneeI Actually I also agree that it is kind of snobby to compare games, but Metroid and Halo are two very close game sin context and character. They can actually be compared at a very high level it is like comparing greek mythology with egyptian, or world of warcraft (as you said) with Lineage 2 or Aion for example. I can explain you in a pm some things if you wish. I did research myself because I was very curious to find why people compare them so much. And I did :). Jus tell me.

@Pololmejor I dont play enough Metroid to actually have an opinion on the topic, all im saying is comparing Metroid to Halo is stupid because of the massive differences in gameplay, and I said that it is like comparing World of Warcraft to God of War just because 1 similar thing (the view of which you play) is not the main point you use to compare games with as an example of how stupid the debate was. Metroids gameplay is far different than Halos.

dude,on no official website has metroid prime gotten higher aggregate than halo,also,even if they are opinions,they are opinions made by professional game reviewers,its like saying,"The box isn't a bad movie just because the reviewers said so," its a FACT that the box is a bad movie and its a fact that halo is a much better franchise than metroid,halo has a much richer story that has spanned books,comics,and even an animated movie compilation,metroid has none of those things

Lots of people have great opinions and this is mine, I think that games such as Doom and Wolfenstein opened the doorway and presented many basic capabilities for First Person Shooters, and I personally believe it was not a fully appreciated genre until Goldeneye came out, where many people praised the multiplayer and to this day playing the classic is still fun. I am probably jumping ahead here but when Call of Duty came out it made multiplayer more accessible and online FPS gaming more popular
