  • Thus far Senator Obama stands on the issues the same as I do, with one possible exception. If you want to quibble about history, we need not go too far back. 2004, Republicians in charge simply threw legal votes out. How ironic, that most of those votes that did not get counted were from "black" voters. In Southern states. If you think Obama has not experienced bigotry based on his skin tone, think again. He relates to the people in Alabama.

  • NICE!!!

  • This is not just a fair and just man. This is a man of inspiration. He's a rightious man. He's a man who weighs the pros and cons before acting. Without a doubt, this man is a true world leader for all men, women, and children. He has values and compassion. He's a straight speaker and not a pleaser of men. As independents, we find him very appealing to our views and vote.

  • check out his wife on youtube "the audacity of Barack Obama"

  • Allregan-What about the work he did as a community organizer in Chicago? Ingiting emotions through cosmetic divisions is not helpful either buddy. What Obama shares with these people is an understanding that they are not at the center of the president's domestic agenda.

  • Yeah, I'm pretty disappointed to see most of these videos since they don't really tell me anything about the candidates. From my understanding, Obama actually has very little to do with any of those people in Alabama. I almost feel bad for them for being sucked into the hype of someone that has very little to do with the african american south. I mean, born in Hawaii, raised in Jakarta, educated at Columbia... he may be a qualified candidate, but his videos do nothing to prove that to me.

  • In fact,he understands these people for the very reasons you listed.Hes always been a minority-a foreigner in someone else's country-a condition folks experience right here in America(think Katrina). This is about access-its not a new resource for academic research. You should read more then maybe you will enjoy this service.

  • Aren't "Pooky" and "Jethro" derrogatory characterizations of rural southerners? Why make fun of Southerners Obama? Also Pooky is a derrogatory term in some parts of Ireland... Sort of like the "Macaca" thing isn't it?

  • I ain't that bad. Get over it.

  • Because he's a Democrat. If it was a Republican making fun of a group of Americans with an idiosyncratic slur it would be the talk of the town regardless of how "not that bad" it might be.

  • Sure you can believe whatever you want...

  • It's not a matter of belief - it's fact - look what the dinosaur media made of the George Allen "macaca" thing...

  • Did you know that African-Americans were denied the right to vote for 90 years (1877-1965)! OBAMA O8!

  • Did you know that it was Democrats that fought so hard to keep blacks from voting for all that time (and longer if they had their way).

  • Uh... Kennedy was a Democrat. You're right and wrong. Southern democrats were against civil rights, but northern democrats were very much for it.

  • The Democrats didn't allow black representation at their 1964 National Convention. This was where civil rights heroine Fannie Lou Hamer gave her famous "I'm sick and tired" speech, and the denial to seat black delegates from Mississippi. And all this AFTER Kennedy.

  • And all this took place in New Jersey - not exactly the heart of the South...

  • Damn, I did not know about this. You are right though. I had always thought it was a Northern Democrat vs. Southern Dixiecrats or George Wallace types. Seems most democrats have blood on their hands, as you implied. Obama still has my vote ;)

  • Fair enough. But ask him to stop calling us Southerners "Pooky" and "Jethro". That's even worse than Hillary's faux southern accent even though it got no attention.

  • DEMOCRATS have had a lonnggggg history of racism, lincoln was a republican, lbj the vietnam war leader was democrat, nixon the republican got out

  • no honey, this is Alabama....Selma, Alabama

  • I love this video showing the "giants" that walked across the Petrus Bridge 42 years ago...they talked about what it took for them to have the courage to change things.

For some it took prayer and a belief that God was with them and others were just a little crazy that change could come.

God bless those folks...I'm inspired to remember and celebrate their deeds...

Go Obama...keep helping us understand...and thanks for inspiring me...

  • Each one, crossing one bridge at a time, eventually brings all to the opposite side, crossing every bridge, together at the same time, brings all to meet in the middle.

  • You owned that lamer Hillary Clinton

  • A Black & White candidate for President who brings the full spectrum of humanity into the rainbow of global change . . .

A man for Greater Good, a citizen for mankind,

A candidate for the Strength, Unity and Peaceful Change of U.S.

  • Amen, enough said! OBAMA O8!

  • Why don't we hear Barak Obama speak. There's so much energy around his campaign right now, and I know he's sponcered some serious legislation in his short term in the Senate, but most of the campaign's videos and his website seem to revolve around this "cult of personality" instead of focusing on where he wants to lead America. I know that his handlers are afraid of dividing people by stating strong opinions, but we need more than just hope; we need reasurance.

  • I totally agree. I'm brazilian, but I've been watching this campaign closely, specially through youtube, trying to decide who I'd cheer for, since I can't vote. And sincerely, up until now Hillary is way ahead in my preference, just beacuse she's putting her proposals on the table. Obama seems to be talking about everything else but what he intends to do!!

  • I've acctually seen a lot of his legislation, or read about it, but yeah, his campaign needs to at least upload more C-Span videos of his Senate carrier. It would help. Not all people are like me, political news junkies/communication students. I had to look for his track record in the Senate, for the most part. It needs to be presented. I can understand what his campaign wants, to ride the hype train a bit more and raise just enough money in the beginning stages in order to get stable support.

  • You're absolutely right. The campaign is trying get as much mileage out of his early and unprecedented celebrity status as they can. As soon as Obama starts to open his mouth on the issues he will begin dividing people. I went back and watched his announcement and was impressed with the issues he brought up there. I guess it seems that his YouTube "presence" seems to focus too much on celebrity and the cult of personality rather than his positions.

  • Yeah. They should be able to find a sort of balance between rhetoric and ideas, winch from what I've seen Obama CAN do it. He's Senate debates are very good, achieving a balance between solid positions and points, with a depth rarely match by anyone in the Senate. At lest compared to others. He can show much more.

  • Melcom X may have met up with the Baha'i Faith on his overseas trip. When he returned to the USA he had had a change of mind and this was never able to be unfolded as his tragic death can too early. "If you don't know where you come from you don't know where you are going": "we need some good crazy in this county" Amen
