the bit which has me interested is the details in the Elastics, (I assume you're using them to support the weight) I've never gotten the hang of them.

no elastics mate, theyre ropes. their sole purpose is to limit the leg from bending any further than its supposed to. And yeah, no wire, each foot has a set of thrusters in various places to make the leg lift and bend the way i want it to.

so keeping this in mind, how are you maintaining flexibility while simultaneously being able to stay standing? surely it should fall down? whats doing the supporting? are you for example using thrusters on the bottom of the body to keep it in the air?

hah, nothing cheap like that. the legs support the full weight. the legs dont crumple because they have 2 maximums of movement, a different set of ropes controls each. one for the standing position, one for the maximum the leg can bend to...its awkward to explain, i have some diagrams if you want me to email them. send me a pm if you do.

Everything I try to build.. well.. it falls down. That, and I don't understand a lot of the properties for things like rope or elastics, or even axles... I ALSO don't think I have a lot of the objects you have.

Every single object here can be found in the Gmod regular and HL2 prop sections. anyways, the only things i used there were ropes and ballsockets for the joints. if you want to message me, i can maybe help you a lil and send you some diagrams. =)

Hm.. odd. My friend transfered some stuff to me right after I got GMod, and I kinda thought my HL2 prop section was smaller than before... but I didn't notice anything missing, so I didn't bring it up. I know it shouldn't have, but maybe it deleted some of the already existing files...

1) no, no hoverballs, its legs support its weight. none of my walkers use hoverballs or props with no weight.

2)no wire (except for the auto-tracking turrets), 4 keypad keys for individial leg movement.

3)no hydraulics. the wires you see are ropes used to constrain the leg movement. thrusters make the legs move and bend.
