Honestly, If you can land a plane smoothy in Flight Simulator X and know the basic controls of airplane (flaps, auto pilot, alitmiter ect) then you should be able to land a real plane in a nice weather with air traffic control guidance! :D
I have a private single engine land and glider certifications, but have always been curious if I could make a single survivable landing in an airliner unaided. I suspect if I took over at a reasonable flight level and had time to scan the cockpit, there might be a chance, and if there was radio assist the chances might approach 50%. Thank heavens for the professionals when the weather deteriorates!
It is saying dont sink! Not dont think! Dumb dumbs dont know how to do all of these insane science experiments but cant just cant lower a plane onto a huge strip of tar. Anyways nice vid!
@ClearToEngageFSX LMAO, that's like saying after learning how to drive in Forza, you can become a professional race car driver, even though you have never touched a car in real life before. Its really funny and sad how people think that playing around with fsx is anywhere remotely close to actually flying a real plane.
Terrible comparison. FSX is a real simulator, Forza is an arcade racer. Driving requires you to feel the pavement, and games don't give you peripheral view. In a flight simulator, you have full cockpit view, and if you can use the instruments, you can fly pretty well. Nothing can fully prepare you besides the real thing, but you can learn how to fly quite well with just FSX.
@Rwy02 you can stall an aircraft at any speed if you exceed the the wing's critical angle of attack. Its known as an accelerated stall. This type of stall is usually the most violent type of stall and puts the aircraft through tremendous structural stresses as a direct result of the speed.
yep it actually is my dad is a military pilot and he teaches me all about flying. it is A ground proximity warning system (GPWS) is a system designed to alert pilots if ... setting ("DON'T SINK"); Unsafe terrain clearance ("TOO LOW – TERRAIN" .

@airbusa380andsas I dislike the Airbus in FSX. It tries to fly for me too much and that causes lots of conflicts with me to the point I've crashed the plane often. I'm use to flying the aircraft not having an aircraft tell me everything I do while flying the aircraft without autopilot controls is wrong. It's like it has a permanent autopilot on and conflicts with me all the time.
@airbusa380andsas Yeah... that Boeing 737 is great. I use default aircraft for FSX so I get annoyed by little issues that were left in the game. I fly only in Virtual Cockpit so I like to have access to all the knobs switches and controls available on the aircraft. Not being able to switch on a specific light switch without Keyboard help annoys me, the 737 is pretty well design compared to the other Airliners.
@Juppie902 It's not Microsoft flight simulator, it's a proper one engineered to simulate an actual jet. These simulators are worth several millions of dollars.
duh, manually level the plane, find autopilot switch, get on radio channel 121.5, listen to them, land the plane. when in autopilot, you have a chance to look at the dashboard.
@SirKamiloPL I dont think thats lag, i belive its becouse of the diffence of the FPS of the Flight Sim, and the FPS the camara could have captured. Actually.... if you look again the whole video is laggy :)

Hey the flight simulator is the best way to learn the principles and stick skills.
The joystick tension is not as hard as in a real aircraft especially in turbulence. I fly a cessna 172 and the controls are very light in normal wind conditions. In turbulence, they need more pressure.
However, flight simulator on the computer is harder to do certain things (like the traffic pattern)...when you go from base to final, for eg, you cant see peripherally, and ... contd...
and screen redraw is slower so the time you apply the joystick and the time it actually works is delayed. This happens in big planes because of momentum, you have to apply pressure a bit ahead of time. But I have never flown a big plane, only small plane and small planes are fairly easy to control in normal weather.
I understand they never saw a joystick in their life, but c'mon, they could have tried a bit harder.
