First of all, it's illegal for someone without a permit to get this close to a seal, second, it is illegal to pet a seal like that. So, you broke two laws. And, when this seal's mother got back and smelled you on her pup, she abandoned it and it starved to death. That sounds like harm to me. Nice going. And people think that sealers who humanely and sustainably harvest a natural resource are "barbarians" and cruel. I'd pick an instant death over one by starvation any day.

I'm sure there are hunters who give this industry a bad name by not killing in a human way and shame on them but our hunt is no different than the killing of cows, pigs and other animals for the public consumption. lots of money being made by these groups by playing up a past stereo type.

First of all, this was just someones vacation, I think. Those "clubs" you see are probably just ski poles or something to help them walk on the ice.

@Wheeneshx3 -coughs- every year in Canada we kill many seals to control the population. Because they eat lots of fish and when they run out of fish they locate their selves some where else with more fish. If this continues we might as well say good bye to the fish.

So that's why every year we kill these seals with a hakapik it looks sort of like a pickaxe.

Don't worry hunters try their best to kill these seals with one blow than skin them. I hope that was very useful. ouo

There are Greenland Sharks but if they eat the seals at all they don't eat nearly that kind of volume. Not sure about Orcas. But I think the 'quota' is something like 80,000 harp seals a year. The clubbers 'never' hit that quota. Even if they did, there are approximately 5.5million+ since 2004 so we're the primary predator in this case.
