I went to SAU,and some of my friends drove to Gurdon a few times and we have seen the Gurdon light. There are alot of railroa track sightings around that area that I've heard of and we went to most of them and the stuff really happened.I am very interested in the Gurdon light most of all.I would like more information on the story. It would be interesting to have the story from a descendant and know that it's the real story.
After seeing a video of the Gurdon Light on Real Scary Stories I wrote to my family historian. Supposely William Grundy McClain was one of my ancestors and he worked on the railroad in Raburn County GA and Gurdon AR in the 1930's. The family historian told me that she contacted another ancetor of ours and that it is true William Grundy McClain died when he got into an argument with a man named Louis McBride and William was killed. Contact me if you'd like more details.
Just clearing up some confusion in the story. The Gurdon Light and the Crossett light are two totally separate things. Gurdon, although also in Arkansas, is nowhere close to Crosset. I'm from and live in Gurdon and have seen the Gurdon Light many, many times. If you'd like to visit the Gurdon Light it's in Southwestern Arkansas. On a railroad crossing on Hwy 53 between it's junction with hwy 67 and interstate 30.
@Mudtyrtle, Thank you so much for writing me. I had never heard of the Gurdon light until I goggled it years later. That is where I went I believe. Whereever it was awesome. Thanks again.
Hey Stinky, Sorry i missed this comment. Yes you could have seen me on tv. I have been on there before. Thanks for stopping by. Please come again and have a GREAT week.
Hey Joan, im just wondering. Theres this old tuberculosus hospital and a bunch of mansions surrounding it every night when im with my mom she drive past it and theres a light or girl walking in the street and when we turn back she dissapers. does this mean something? biw
Hello Joanie, I loved your story, and I have had many strange things happen to me throughout my life, although these things can be scarey at the time, I for one don't know of anyone who was physically hurt by a ghost, do you? well I am glad our 'Joanie' lived to tell the tale. Loveya.....Sophia
Thank you. It was terrifying when it was happening. Other people said they had to walk down the tracks to see the light and it bounced around but NO not us. We hadn't sat there on the tracks but just a little while and it started coming at us as if it was determined to smash our car and KILL us silently. I seriouly thought we were fixing to be DEAD. I wouldn't go back if someone paid me. I don't know about ghosts. Never believed but this confuses me.
He he. I am glad you enjoyed it. You know you wouldn't have Skeered two innocent country gals like us.lol As the story goes most people that go up there have to walk down the track a mile or two before they see the light and it is swinging back and forth like a lantern. Of course, that is suppose to be the headless man with a lantern looking for his head. Our son went up there years later as a 20 year old with friends and saw it too. It moved around. Strange.
Hey Joan, at first I fugured that Police Officer was having some fun with you girls, but in the end , with the lights crossing your car, I guess it wasn't him after all. If I had been that cop, you girls would have been back in town looking for some dry clothes. THANKS FOR A GREAT STORY, C.W.
Thank you.....Yes I wrote about it years ago for a local paper. I kinda told about the story but had the article in front of me. I will never forget what happened tho.
