they sound awesome, and i'm jealous of the 09 rims and brighter taillight. Don't feel bad about having the shotguns pipes, because everyone has sweeps and ness slashers anymore. My shotguns are in the mail. I am curious though, did the Victory issued shotgun pipe re-flash work with the baffles? Happy riding
The Victory reflash worked PRETTY well. I notice a decent amount of backfiring in cold weather still, but in warm weather it's all good. Eventually i'll put on a Power Commander and fix all that.
As long as you didn't drop to like 15 mpg i'm sure its fine. does thunder city send instructions? If the stock baffles are in the last foot of pipe i'm not worried about it, but otherwise i'll prob let the shop deal with it. you plan on getting a cruise control module since your pre-wired? prob dont need it with the kuryakyn throttle tab, but how well does that really work?
Yes they sent instructions, but you really don't need them. There's not much to it. Basically just pull the tips off the pipes, unscrew the old baffle, screw in the new one, and bolt the tips back on. Eventually maybe a cruise control, but I don't do a massive amount of touring, so it really isn't a major priority right now. The Kury throttle boss is perfect for me right now. I've also now added Kury cruising pegs, so it's even more comfortable.
finally got mine, long story... did you run the pipes without the baffles to see how it sounded? my baffle measured out to be right at about 2 1/16 so i'm a little nervous its gonna be bouncing around in there and sound like hell. any chance yours were about that size and you just stuffed the 2 1/8 baffles in there? thanx
That sounds pretty good to me. I think I will probably get the swept exhaust though, in chrome.
I got my Victory Vegas 8-Ball in May '09. The only mod I have on it so far is the overdrive pulley, which offers a noticeable, but arguably necessary difference.
After the exhaust mods, I plan on getting the instrument plate blacked out. I find the glare from the midday sun a little annoying.
Congrats on your Vic man. I've actually only had this one for a few months. I ALMOST bought the swept pipes, but my local dealer had a great deal for me on the shotguns, so I went with those and have zero regrets about it. Mods so far are Kury comfort grips, exhaust and stage 1, and passenger seat and sissy bar for the wife. Come spring i'm doing saddle bags, new bars, Kury pegs and the bullet headlight.
Actually I removed the emblem because the bike is having a custom paint job done shortly. Your comment is about as dumb as me saying there's a reason people put different pegs on a Harley, or different exhaust, or grips, or seat.
I love both Harley and Victory, and in fact I ride a Harley quite often. Open your mind, man.
This guy watches more Victory videos than Harley videos. Why don't you go to your local Victory dealer and trade in your ride for a nice made in America Victory motorcycle?
Sounds great man!
