i love this band and this song with all my heart!!! watching this video . . . honestly brings back tons of memories! thanks so much for posting this!!! just fantastic!!!!
Matt's a great drummer...and to a degree, more "technically" skilled than Jack - but just doesn't play this song with the same "feel" that to me, makes this song. He's playing straight 1/4 notes on the bass drum rather than the triplet pattern that really sets the groove on Jack''s original performance. Watched this right after the Berlin '96 version - can't hold a candle to it!
Have you ever noticed that Pearl Jam speeds up their songs in concert? They are like wicked fast! What do you think? Listen to the album version at the same time as the concert version....
BEAUTIFUL performance. The vocals get stronger and stronger as the song develops and Vedder finishes it off beautifully. Well done Pearl Jam, well done.
Despite our opinions if this version is either great or terrible, it is so wonderful to see the band having such a great time playing one of their most beautiful (and underrated) songs. This should definitely be performed more often!
matt cameron is awesome but jack irons owns this song.. I dont think anyone will play quite the way he did.. just like soundgarden.. no one can play those tunes like matt did
In my opinion they are the greates band in the world.. The sound of all is great in all the live..And Matt is a very good drummer..for me the drum is wonderful in his interpretation..
I MUCH prefer Jack's drumming on this song, whether we're talking the studio version or live, which I think is superior to what I am hearing here. The centre piece of this song is the drums and MC's interpretation, which to me sounds rhythmically simpler, just doesn't do it justice. Just my opinion.
i think eddie personaly sounds off key and horrible here ...even the watchtower from this show sucked ..wth oh well i guess even eddie vedder has bad nites just like us ..peace

I think that's because he has some background singers that weren't that strong.

No Code is one of their best albums. Underrated in my opinion.

Totally agree with you. The only thing I don´t like in this cd was the Irons´ drumming style. In my humble opinion, Cameron is a better drummer.
