  • i have a 89 F250 351 with a C6 and the cats plugged up so my 0-60 is like 14 seconds lol... im thinkin of addin a Hypertech performance chip after i fix the cat, and it says you will add up to 60 hp, do you think its a scam or its true, cause im buyin what there saying and its a good brand to?

  • i have a 91 f150 with a 302 and it revs high at start up....could it be the ECU?

  • @acres90 chek the TPS sensor..

  • @acres90 Check vacuum lines for any leaks, check your TPS sensor, check your idle screw on the TB (if you have one).

  • This might sound like a bunch of stupid questions.... I'll ask just because....

    1.) Does a Performance Cam make the exhaust/motor louder?

    2.) Would a 351 "be" louder than a 302 because of the stroke?

    3.) What effects exhaust noise? (making it louder)

  • 1) Not really, only a lopier exsaust note.

    3) The exsaust or lack of, Sometimes intakes also

    it seems to me that you want your truck to have a loud exhaust.

    the best thing to do for a louder exhaust is to not have one at all...just get straight pipes with no mufflers or catalytic converters.

  • They arn't the brightest, and I know I spelled exhaust wrong, No exhaust= big ticket, not great to tell a kid to cut his off

  • a cam will make it sound better, idk if it will be much louder, but a 351 (to my ears) sounds deeper and more like a growl than a 302, and if you run straight pipes with a good cam, you will sound louder. straight pipe is GREAT!!!

  • ohh.. no its just normal for a 302 i think. 302's make thier powers up high in the rpm band..

    or is the cam stock?

  • So, I have a 302, though. I probably can't just go get a nicely tuned ECU out of an original vehicle for something like that? Unless I could get one from a cop car. What would you think about that? My truck is manual, but it doesn't want to scream until 3000+. Pulls fine down lower, but wants to RUN passed 3000 RPM. I think it's in the programming. Any suggestions?

  • hmmm the 86 you have right? i dont think it has to do with programming.. get one from a mustang but then you will have to change the firing order to a 302HO wich is the same as an 351.. the biggest cork is heads and cam.. imbuilding a mild 302now with Gt40 heads and a custom decent cam.. with an 650 holly to put into an 1989 F150 5 speed manual :)

  • Yeah, mines an 86 EFI. Yeah, the heads and cam are a big cork, BUT I'm saying the engine literally makes a different sound starting at about 3100RPM. And it really starts to pull like crazy in my top gear at that RPM and passed there. I've had my truck to 115-120mph according to a Honda that was trying to keep up (it kind of did keep up, lol). I barely beat it, but he said he hit 120. I've also heard their speedos are off a little, so may have been more around 115. That was 4200RPM.

  • OMG man! I don't know what your truck ran like before, or what you have done to it. But, if it's near stock and the ECU made it run and sound that perfect, that's great. Tell me some more about it.

  • hehe.. it ran like crap before.. bigges performance was gains was

    exhuast n intake and timing to 14BTDC*

    other mods that did ok

    full msd ignition setup

    ambulance ECU (they have more agressive timing curve and shift pattern so thats why its a bit faster than stock ecu )

  • exhuast.. intake, timing at 14 BTDC.. msd ignition box and coil. 9mm ford racing sparkplug wires.. nothing else.. headers and cam are coming soon :)

  • nope... its a stock manifolds.. stock y pipe.. single 3 inch flowmaster.. chek my other vids.. you will hear a see the truck better.
