I believe the technique he uses for the G1 is called kargyraa. It is indeed utilized frequently by Tibetan Buddhist monks when chanting, but some Slavic basso profundi also use a variation of this technique to extend their lower range.

@Abracadabra208 I had the same feeling about the lower notes that he sings. I think it's quite amazing how he can sing with his normal voice and then change to the kargyraa style inmediately!

I had the unique chance to assist recently to a baptismal service held by this Father . It was something really amazing, God has endowed this priest with divine grace and golden voice. His name is Cristian Deheleanu . He is a Romanian Orthodox Priest from Bucharest.

That's an amazingly strong vocal fry... you can tell because of the slight cracks up to the regular bass G at the beginning before he hits the fry and cranks up the volume.

In the ortodox religion, the priest is just a man with a special gift from god; and that is all. He can marry or not, it's his wright, becouse he is a HUMAN! God wants us to be free.

there are priests that don t have wives, my prieste doesn t have a wife and he isn t a monk, they re not obliged to marry, who told you that?they re obliged to marry before they re made priests if they want or they can stay unmarried. only, after they chose to stay unmerried, they re obliged to die that way or they won t be priests anymore :)

orthodox priests can be married. excepting monks, bishops and those who choose to live single, orthodox priests can be married. How could they give advice to a family if they don't have one? I mean, they could...but they could understand much better the problems of a family if they have one.

Unlike Roman Catholics, Orthodox men can be ordained even if already married; although if they are ordained before they are married then they must remain so. Point being, there's no correlation between frequency of basso profundo amongst Orthodox men and celibacy. In fact, the frequency of basso profundo is not universal to all Orthodoxy, just Eastern Europe and Russia. You hear few of them amongst Arabs or Greeks.
