  • why not , just make enough maranade , too couver it all, instead of haveing too turn salmon over..

  • cooking is so fun.

  • @MegaGangaking

    It is!

  • So easy thanks for the tip chef

  • @GaZaLoC1

Sure! And thanks for the comment.

  • Great video man. Thanks a lot.

  • @x3killacam3

    Thanks for the comment!

  • Hi Chef. I tried grilling fish for the first time tonight using this video as a guide. I wanted to thank you for proving the world with such an easy/simple marinade. It turned out great!!! Thanks!

  • @Garnetredcoupe I'm so glad it worked well for you! Thanks for taking the time to comment!

  • I'm going to try this. What do you think about adding small amount of ginger and cooking over hickory chunks? Great video!

  • @electriengineer Sounds nice!

  • sashimi is better =P

  • @francocrs There are some tapeworm issues with raw salmon, so I like to avoid that. :)

  • @ChefTips thats a risk i gladly take =)

  • Love salmon thanks !!! reality good

  • @SuperMazorquero Thank you!

  • I love salmon!! thanks for the recipe

  • @artz900 You're welcome!

  • Annnnnnd..... Now I'm starving. Great video! :)

  • @MidnightSundowns Thanks!

  • yum that looks good

  • What would be a really good side-dish for your recipe? My go-to grain for fish is rice, but what else do you suggest? :) Thanks!

    -Michelle

  • @cHeLLieGurL6

For a starch side, rice always pairs well with fish. A nice risotto would take it to the next level. To keep it simple and good without rice, I would serve my roasted potatoes as the side...

  • @cHeLLieGurL6

    Grilled asparagus!

  • What sort of "Spray" was that? That isn't necessary isn't it?

  • @Nhordmyr

Hello. You can use a grill spray or wipe down the grill with a towel that has been drizzled with olive oil.

  • I find flipping salmon difficult. You make it look easy. As usual.

  • Thanks for the tips :) i think the video made it really clear and easy! x

  • @DebbieHarryxxx You're welcome! I'm glad you enjoy the videos!

  • The shortest cooking video ever .. and its easy to make :)

  • @lurzax Thanks!

  • I always used foil. Now I scrape and use Pam Olive Oil and it's awesome. Thanks pal..

  • I made the mistake of pouring the marinade over the salmon every time I opened the grill, and right when I put it on. It turned out way too salty... But it was STILL godlike salmon. Perhaps brushing some more maple syrup on instead would have been a better choice...

I also added a dash of ginger just to give it a more complex flavor, seemed to help things a bit.

  • I was told a hundred times that no fish should be marinated for over 15min unless you're serving it raw.

  • @HugginCourt This is true with acidic marinades that include citrus or lemon. This is just soy sauce and maple syrup. It's fine.

  • This was a hit when I made this during July 4th. Thanks for sharing !!

  • @linnylinh91 Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

  • That is an expensive marinade.

  • Wow! Excellent recipe! I will definitely do this come 4th of July 2011! Btw, still loving your breakfast casserole recipe!

  • @MoviesTubeYou0675

Thanks for the complement! Happy 4th to you!

  • Wow! this looks great you should Watch Extreme Chef Airing tonight. I suggest you try and get on the show.

  • @anthonyrockwood

    Thanks!

  • You had me at "easy." I've made this twice for my wife and we both really enjoy it. Thanks!

  • @spiderwithahumanhead

I am glad you like it. Thanks for sharing your comment!

    Cheers!

  • Tried this recipe this morning for breakfast over some salad with asian sesame dressing... ooooo sssoooo gooood!!! Great Recipe!!!

  • @smatol707 Thank you!

  • I really like the looks of it and everything, but one thing I always wonder when wathcing american cooks doing food on television etc. Why do you always sweeten things so badly? If not malesyrup, it's brown sugar, if not brown sugar, it's regular castersugar, if not regular sugar, it's honey.. Whyy? =(

I can't get around not thinking that's just gonna taste like candy. Work as a chef myself, and tried many american recies without all the syrup and stuff, and so far it's worked out great. :)

  • @laltzable This particular recipe replicates the "Cedar Smoked Salmon" or Pacific Northwest style, which has these flavors. It's just one recipe. I have plenty of other recipes that are not sweet.

  • @1:45

  • You can use Pam for grilling or regular Pam. Just spray on the grill, don't let the flame ignite back to the spray can though.

  • are grill marks just for looks?

  • @12345zxcvbnmasdfghjk

    Pretty much...

  • You, sir, got yourself a subscriber.

  • @presbarkeep Well thank you!

  • @ChefTips me too!

  • You make nice, quick and effective recipes. Great.

  • @inmens Thank you!

  • what kind of spray did u use?

  • @Lizett02 Grilling spray.

  • i loove salmon sooooooooooo much but when i eat it, i break out :(

  • I will be trying it TOMORROW for lunch!

  • @CarlosMerighe

    Hope you enjoyed it!

  • I love grilled Salmon! When done right, it's better than steak!

  • @InspireImages

I like it took too, but steak is still my favorite... =]

  • Any cook who stays in the spotlight long enough, should be prepared for a long grilling session.

    ;)

  • @SinnFein4ever

    Grill away.... ;)

  • @ChefTips

You did alright with this recipe, but I bet that if you tried to make Honey-Teriyaki Salmon, you'd get yourself into a very sticky situation.

    ;)

  • There's somthing very fishy here.

  • @SinnFein4ever Haha!

  • I tried the marinade. It was really good! It went well with scallop potatoes. Thanks for the super easy dish!

  • @vetdetta You're welcome. Glad you enjoyed it!

  • Easy way on the grill is skin side down on a boat of tinfiol, do not cover. Dont flip, just watch the colour and texture. the skin adds to the flavour.

  • great

  • 0:42 " pour the marinade over the salmon " RHYMES SO WELL WITH THE SONG

  • @UploaderA Yes, someone pointed that out before. We couldn't stop laughing.

  • my salmon always sticks to my grill, creates a mess and half of the salmon ends up on the grill because it breaks up. I tried olive putting olive oil on the grill before placing the salmon ... that helped a bit but still it wasn't as good as your video. How do you make sure the fish does not stick to the grill?

  • @pcjudosambo You can wipe the grill with a cooking-oil dampened cloth (using tongs) and then just wait til the fish "sets" before flipping. You will probably always have a small bit of sticking.

  • What type of salmon would you recomened

  • @AustralianMovies I like getting the wild salmon from Whole Foods market.

  • lovely salmon

  • @coachdsimpson Thank you!

  • Thank you for the video.

  • @kidistight You're welcome!

  • Now thats how you grill salmon!!! good job ma nigga

  • Looks like a good & easy recipe... But I would recpommend using the aerosol cooking spray before you heat the grill. That seems like it could potentially be dangerous around flames.

  • yummy

  • uhh burnt salmon, looks overcooked

  • @dielol4 Nope. Still very moist inside. We like the grill marks.

  • can this be made using a grill pan and if so is it better to do stove top or in the oven?

  • I will check that out...sounds much different than what I use, and it sounds good. Do you ever use an Alder, Cedar or Maple plank to grill fish or any other meat?

  • @TheKeithGuidry Thanks! Hope you enjoy it. We do like to use the cedar planks with this salmon recipe sometimes.

  • Next to Grilled Sea Bass...This is my wife's #2 favorite dish. What seasoning rub do you use on Sea Bass? Check out our Channel...let me know what you think? Peace

  • @TheKeithGuidry I use my lemon herb marinade on most grilled fish. I have a video about it. There's another great recipe I still need to post that has a macadamia crust. :)

  • Great video. Feedback: background music is very distracting. Your voice and instructions are music enough ;). Thanks.

  • @CherylMASS

Yeah, we've learned to tone it down in our later videos lol!

    Cheers!

  • Haha i make almost all that you make on the show! all YUM!!!

  • @Soounknownshow

    Thanks you! =]

  • marravlha. Tank you. ellensuzy

  • It looks so tasty! I'd like to try this but I don't know if my family really likes it because of the soy sauce... they have the prejudice that it's got a "too oriental" taste, lol :)

Is the taste of the soy sauce very noticeable?

  • @MsIrisSantos This tastes like the Pacific Northwest-style maple glazed salmon you get in the restaurants. If you like that, you will like this recipe. Hope this helps.

  • @ChefTips My 10 yrs old son doesn't care for Chinese food nor seafood so, I made this with Bragg Liquid Aminos instead of soy sauce. You can find this at a health food store or sometimes at other stores. He loved it so much he asked for seconds that night and he wanted it for school lunch the next day! Mahalo for this great dish! ; )

  • @ScoutPax

    Great story!

    Mahalo for sharing!

  • Well Jason, I just had to make it again. Was just as good as the first time. :))

  • @Zuelanda Great to hear that!

  • Is the trick to getting those nice grill marks just to use a real high heat?

  • This looks so god.

  • Made this for dinner with grilled corn on the cob and ceasar salad, was amazing.

  • @Zuelanda I'm glad you enjoyed it! It's one of our favorite summertime grilling recipes as well. Cheers, Jason

  • ty,nice recipe also...

  • I love grilled salmon!

  • you need some hot sauce or red pepper or some tony's on that or something.

  • @Engreval72 Not for this recipe. This is a sweet cedar plank style salmon. Try it out and you'll see!

  • You're a genius! I watched all your 103 videos in 1 day! The bad part of it is that when i subscribed i began watching one by one, and my mum was cooking at the same time, I was dead hungry :D

    Yummy Yummy recipes!

Waiting for another ones. Great job!

  • @sungirlshines Thanks so much. You are too kind. More vids to come!

  • is that wild caught or farm raised?

  • @tbursee

    Hello.

This one in the video was farm raised.

  • @ChefTips is the wild caught more fatty than the farm raised ? and is also the sockeye better tasting than the other salmon types ? let me know . thanks :-)

  • thats great! I try to cook it and it falls apart

  • @972trev The trick is have an oiled grill and not to turn the fish too much. When you first put it down, let it sit for a while so it doesn't stick to the grill.

  • @ChefTips Thanks a lot! I re-tried this Sunday and it worked. it came out perfect. I used a different sauce but the results were 100% better

  • hell yeah im subscribing!!

  • @Ivan5642 Thanks!

  • mann im hunqryy bruhh bruhh! u aint sharinq?=D!

  • Today I grilled fresh salmon I bought at Costco. I see that you have smaqll pieces you flip so I cut this large piece up in 4 parts and it worked VERY well. What I did wrong was put the top down and one side burned a bit but I cut that away and the rest was unbelievably delish! I guess I should leave the top open so that I can watch it closer. I didn't use anything on it and it was truly tasty as is. Thank you!!!

  • delicious! thanks for the video!

  • I love salmon! Yum yum :D~

  • your my hero!!! made that patato soup yest...loved it and the dicing patatoes was easy!!! thanks 2 you tube we can learn cooking the aesy way!!! keep up the good simple videoes:)))))

  • @gingermom59 We can't stop laughing! We never noticed that. It is totally a coincidence! That's hilarious!

  • @gingermom59 hahahaha i noticed it too :))

  • @gingermom59 LOL i didnt notice

  • @gingermom59 pour the marinade over the salmon . ding ding ;-) it is funny .

  • @gingermom59 hahaha yeah that made me laugh

  • @gingermom59 "....pour the marinade over your salmon...dosie do and swing your partner prominade..."

    Haha

    Great recipe, thanks

  • @johnnywoodmusic

That was a total accident on our part! ha ha!

  • @johnnywoodmusic

  • makin it tonite yuummmmy

  • ¿whats the name of that spray you used?

  • Thanks alot....will give this a try!

  • Thanks for the info....You are now my goto chef....whats the direct line....Just kidding...Thanks again!

  • How about orange juice for a marinade? To much acid? Thanks!

  • @TheVittleVlog

Hello. A citrus cream sauce using orange juice is excellent over salmon. A marinade using OJ, olive oil, garlic and some parsley would also be great for salmon. When marinating seafood with any acid base, marinade for no more than 30 minutes.

  • @TheVittleVlog Hahaa! It's 1-800-555-CHEF Try this marinade for 2 to 4 salmon steaks. 1/2 cup of OJ 1/2 to 3/4 cup olive oil 1 clove of minced garlic 1 tsp brown sugar 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley. Mix well and poor over the salmon and marinade for 30 minutes. Lightly salt and pepper your salmon before placing on the grill. Cheers!
  • I really like your cooking videos and techniques they are short, to the point and I'm sure delicious!

  • @nancyelhelbawi

    Thanks so much.

  • i am hungry......Ciao

  • That salmon looks really good, I should make it sometime.

  • OMG yes, Salmon in soy sauce and maple syrup is the best way to prepare it!!!

  • what about a coconut crust on top of the salmon and we bake it instead of grilling?? do u think it would work??

  • Mmmm. I do make something like this. Stay tuned for my macadamia-nut crusted mahi mahi.

  • Hey Jason, I tried this recipe.. and this is really great... i squeeze in a little bit of lemon and its just perfect. Thanks so much for the recipe :)

  • Thanks for the kind feedback. I'm so glad you enjoyed the recipe! Cheers, Jason

  • Idol Chef! Is it okay if I put a little lemon on it and spice! :-)

  • @boracaychicxz

    Sure can!

  • @ageslave

  • Thanks for the comment!

  • thaks dude, nice recept. Have to try it here in Germany

  • Thanks! Hope you like it! Jason

  • oh my gosh! i'm so hungry! =D

  • Hi Chef Jason,

I made the grilled salmon with maple syrup, soy sauce and garlic, but rubbed in some lemon pepper. The salmon was delicious! Thank you for a great recipe for grilled salmon!!!!

  • I would like to try this recipe on a cedar plank. Any recommendations when using a plank, like leaving the skin on, or cooking time? What about getting grill marks on the fish using a plank?

By the way, I've been using melted butter with brown sugar and soy sauce as my salmon marinade for a few years now. I thought that was easy...this is even easier!

    Thanks

  • Cedar plank can be a little tricky. First soak the planks in water for 30 minutes. Next, if using salmon with the skin on, grill the salmon for a couple of minutes skin side up to get your marks. Then place on the plank skin side down, and place back on the grill, and cover grill with lid. You want your plank to smoke, and not burn. I plan on doing a video on this in the future. Hope this helps for now.

  • hey chef Jason,Can I use any kinds of salmon?

and what kind of salmon is that?
