Regarding his accent, when he's performing he uses an American accent, which he picked up while living in the US. When he's with family or up in Scotland he uses his Scottish accent. At this point in his life they both come naturally.

No more unusual than actors who appear on US TV shows who use an American accent & when they're interviewed they're talking with an Irish, British, or Australian accent! Shows you how talented they all are!
