  • Good God, Li Tao as Fiyero is like my dreams coming true.

  • dame you japanes!

  • Megumi Hamada, as elphaba, played the original Japanese Nala and Aida as well.

  • The only part I understood was the "aaahhhhhhhh" at the end. But it was still frickin awesome!

  • Elphaba's got a great voice!

  • How do we get an Asian Galinda in the States?

  • I even get goose pimples when I watch it on japanese ^^

  • I just saw wicked in australia that was the best thing i ever seen in my life and after i saw the dude who plays fiero coming out of the greenroom up close everyone in the world who play him are smoking

  • @MrsTaylorLautner111 I saw it in australia too! who did you get as Elphaba and Galinda?

  • that was amazing. the Elphaba is so great so close to the original. i can understand some japanese wish i paid more attention in class :)

  • If I didn't no the lyrics to all the songs I would be like WTF. But thankfully I no the lyrics

  • The Elphaba is amazing

  • loved it!! taking Japanese really pays off!! lol wish i could understand more, but being able to read it was awesome too :D

i really liked it tho, they stayed pretty close to the original!

  • i understoid nothing but i got what was goin on

  • LOL blonde japanese person xD

  • Like holy crapppp every show the Japanese make is well produced. A Blonde Asian is a strange thing

  • so cute ( : ohno moko !

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!

  • this trailer is wonderful. japanese people know how they should produce their shows. They are always special and good.

  • OMG!!! This Fiyero is HOT as HELL!!!

  • Oh my gosh!! The japanese Elphaba is gorgeous!!

  • ha thts quite a cool trailer as well.. i think i like the german n this one best out of all :)

  • Damnnnn....I'd watch Wicked in every single country if I could XD

  • Respond to this video... i like the german wicked better

  • This trailer looks much nicer than the other. but Glinda appears nowhere :(

  • @MrsSuTing How did you miss the clips of Glinda?

  • Leave it to the Japanese to make an epic thing even more epic with their epicness...

  • Amazin

  • i have no idea what they are saying, but the vocals are AMAZING!

  • i have no idea what they are saying, but the vocals are AMAZING!

  • Wanna hear a secret? The Japanese are making an anime of Wicked!!!!!

    They've already started?

Oh no, they don't know it yet. :)

  • @autobotrockstar2 really? I hope they already started it.

  • @msbookworm1395 It was a joke playing on one of Glinda's lines. Sorry to disappoint. That would be fucking epic though huh?

  • @autobotrockstar2 oh... well that's a little disappointing... but that's okay... :)

  • @autobotrockstar2 REALLY

  • The lyrics may be slightly different to make rhymes/fit into the lines... but I want to see this it looks amazing in Japan.

  • and we're wondering why Japan always is a step ahead of us? This is amzing. brilliant. Ther's nothing else to say about it.

  • oh wow oh wow oh wow oh wow. This trailer is AMAZING! It's got a bit of everything and I will agree with everyone else: Fiyero is HOT! I wish I could see this in person!

  • popular started on the WRONG KEY. and the whole thing sounds horribly out of tune...

  • Because Japan as all the technology and are smarter

  • EPIC

  • Holy Lord. Those Japanese can belt it. xD Looks fantastic, if only I could understand what they were saying. . .

  • That.... didn't give me chills or anything. NOT AT ALL.

    Also... Fiyero, anyone? <3

  • WOW this looks phenomenal japanese ppl know how 2 put on a performance!!

  • Looks soo cool with the Japanese writing :D

  • @thanhypop Good actor?

  • at 1:01 it seems not like the original one, but FUNNIER!

  • I love thier singing:3..And I like how Elphie's hair moves in the credits and opening:D

  • I saw it in Tokyo and loved it I only knew the german version before and this one was so much better!

  • lol what is this feeling in japanese!

  • Someone told me that they saw this in Japan and they completely changed the story...

  • @JollyMe08

    how?

  • @peguin100 I don't remember.

  • LOL I LOVE the guy that comes in a HALF second too early for the last note!

  • its the exact same as the one on Broadway just diferent language

  • ITS SOOOO COOL THAT THE G(A)LINDA IS STILL BLONDE! (i still dont think its fair that the fiyero and the commercial for wicked are better than the ones in america)

  • I would go to see it despite my inability to understand it. It looks amazing.

  • I really want to see this! It looks great! I wouldn't even mind that I wouldn't be able to understand it. xD One day, maybe.

  • I'm going to see that this May. Only it'll be in America not Japan. This is so funny!

  • Omg, I would totally see this if I could understand them!!!

  • Why The Heck do people have to be so picky? The tour versions are just as good as the one in NY.

  • Kool, I get to see in in Charlotte this summer! Cnt wait!!!!!

  • ...i dont like it...just fly to new york and see the original version. This is really weird coz wicked shows the western culture. it's just the translation without any interpretation.

  • They look soo cute^^ I WANNA GO I WANNA GO I WANNA GOOOOO!

  • Fiyero(my friend calls him Ferrero)looks cute!I feel sorry for him when I see him on that pole thing.TRAITOR OF A PRINCE!

Also that Galinda looks pretty good with the blonde wig on.IF it IS a wig...

  • LOL.

  • 1:25 until the end is EPIC.

  • ;D the intro notes, tied with the fact that its japanese, made me think "OMG TEAM ROCKET MOTTO" :3 im such a pokénerd. i want to see this live.

  • I saw it in Osaka today!

    It was fantastic!!!

  • I have no idea how to feel about this. I love all things Asian, but Oz really isn't supposed to be anything like Asia.

  • they wouldn't add asian architecture if that's what you meant. Oz can be anything, anyway. It's universal.

  • I simply meant that Oz is a world of it's own, and I can't imagine any Asian-like culture in it.

  • @FreeWeasel13 It's the exact same thing thing done with different actors. It has nothing to do with Asia except the language. They aren't re-vamping the story at all.

  • amazing. that's really cool. i want to fly all the way to japan to see it but haha, no wayyy i'm doing that.

  • I LOVE IT!!!!!

  • it sounds funny ... I only know the german one and some parts of the english version ...

  • hey this is on in australia at the moment :) but i wont be able to see it, my mum has already gone to see it...

  • Glinda and Elphaba in Japan harmonize GREAT together!

  • wow! that looks rly awesome, but i still think i'd rather see it in english. in america, i mean.

cuz japanese singers always sound the same to me. reminds me of like, arashi and DBSK (yes, i know DBSK is korean)m who are soo not good enough to sing wicked songs. but it still looks rly good, just better in american. <:D

  • ....I honestly think I could die happy after seeing this in Japan.

  • agreed

  • i kind of wanna go to japan just to this this version of wicked!

  • Comment removed

  • EPIC! I wanna see now, Jooma, Maybe we should go see this one insead of our roadtrip :P

  • hey kendal u saw it :P nah i say we take our roadtrip AND see this one AND see the german one cause they sound incredible too

  • thats 1 thing i noticed for the wicked western trailers they never show just u and i defying gravity which in my opinion is the best bit in the whole show

  • so nice. i mean being in japanese seems to make what is this feeling even funnier, as long as you're mine even more emotional and defying gravity even more powerful. i didnt know any of those 3 were possible

  • I've seen Wicked twice in New York (the only reason why we could afford to go was becuase a friend took us one time). I've also heard the music is my first language French-although I'm american.

    But wow.

The Japanese one is so...powerful. Although it's a shame that the jokes were lost in translation/cultural differences.

  • its just sooo... BIG!!!

  • It look's apsalutly amazing, but it's so weird seeing in a completly different way...

  • I'm wondering... and I apologize in advance if what I'm about to ask seems racist and/or culturally ignorant (I know us Americans tend to be) but the 'blonde joke' is something consistent in the show so I'm wondering- does the average Japanese know about the American 'blonde joke'?

  • nope, we don't. (I happen to know it because I learned it from american films) sadly it's lost in translation. Elphie just sayed "she's...stupid" and hardly anyone laughed:(

  • Holy Shiz. I just saw Wicked here in Seattle last night and it was amazing and this looks just as amazing! I don't know a word of Japanese but I know if I saw this, I'd love it just the same :)

  • this made my day:)

  • 1:11

    LOVE IT. Such a teaser!

    This entire thing is FANTASTIC!

  • yeah but remember if u havent seen the play ur not gonna make the link between a 1/2 second glimpse of some guy in a guards uniform with another 1/2 second glimpse of a scarecrow shaped silhouette

  • lol

  • wow. this is amazing. and the japanese fuyero is HOT :D

'as long as you're mine' is really nice!

  • that looks awesome

  • wow that defying gravity looks amazing

  • Wow, this is amazing, this is unusual. I wanna see it!

  • I wanna see this! I saw the Broadway cast, but I would love to see the Japanese cast!

  • even though i dont know japanese i would still go. it looks good there too!

  • How come Japanese trailers look SOO much better than the ones here in america? (answer: Cuz Japanese people are just AWESOME!!)

  • @Otaku287

I think it's just that the cinematography and editing styles are just different. I mean, I'm sure that a film editor from America or Europe would take that same footage and do a totally looking trailer.

In this case, the Japanese company that made this trailer wanted something more dynamic and fast-paced because they know their people best and how they want their product to be presented.

  • @Otaku287 its cause their japanese x3

  • @Otaku287 Umm maybe while you guys simply copied the show, americans were too busy to create the musical. Plus this is a matter of taste, for example green lightning in the beginning is simply cheesy.

  • @Otaku287

did you se the germantrailer...he is great

  • In this version they shout "dame!" in the universal, they skip to "Kinai"

  • It's amazing how such a wonderful show goes global. Imagine they do it for EVERY show ever done on Broadway.

  • the fiyero looks like he's really in love..

  • @thanhypop

aww, he does! but they got only elphaba's, madame morrible's and glinda's hair color right.

  • sounds quite amusingg :L

but id like to go and see itt there :)

  • how come this loos so amazing ad then in other videos the defying gravity flying sence has a rubbish lift and no special effects at all!!

  • Universal Studios in Osaka does a 35-minute miniature version of Wicked, which is what you've seen other videos of on YouTube. They usually have Americans or Australians play Elphaba, and Japanese play Glinda, and it's performed mostly in Japanese but with some parts in English. :)

  • I dont no japanese but i love the language. It sounds AMAZING. Their voices are amazing.

  • I don't mean to sound racist or anything, but it's really weird to see an asian Glinda.

They sound amazing! I'd totally go and see this...even though I don't speak Japanese. =D

  • lol, thats funny! BUT they still sound good!

  • loooove it!

  • Without meaning to sound patronizing or condescending: you're wrong.

  • alexia is fantastic, i saw her on saturday and she brings something really good to the role - she plays it in such a way that you really want elphie to get her way - whereas the original (Idina Menzel) just played her like a crazy woman (well, the performance i saw on here seems to indicate that)

  • love elphie's hair moving at the beginning. li tao and hamada megumi's "as long as you're mine" sounded cool. can i find the soundtrack anywhere to buy? ok, megumi pulled off the "OH-AH-AH-AHHH!!!" at the end good, so i'm definitely reconsidering her.

  • it was a big pause then she did the "OH-AH-AH-AHHH!!!"

  • yes...thats the way the song goes

  • Wow... How did they get their language to totally go with the music still so perfectly? The words must have been changed a lot for this.

Which only increases its amazingness. *.*

  • Your right there, it is a huge challenge but they do alter the music, sometimes the key, sometimes the pace of it! It varies! But the changes are so subtle that you don't notice them easily! :)

  • At the end of the trailer at 1:27 when Elphaba sticks out the broom in her right hand, just as the song ends she should make a peace sign with her left hand and thrust it out on the last beat.

  • i saw wicked when i studied abroad in japan-it was so amazing. i recommend it for anyone living/visiting tokyo

check out me sining wicked songs on my page!!!

  • 1:15 wow. Morrible looks like a scary porcelain doll.

  • This looks great all though its in a different language.

I just have one lecture to say about Wicked

It's grown so much over the past years , wicked has conuquered the world in the uk broadway LA San Francisco Japan and I think that Stephen Schwarts deserves a massive award for this musical (All though he has swon some) but well done to him for writing such beautiful songs and lyrics!

  • oh for sure. wicked was robbed at the tonys because of all the politics involved in winning now. i mean avenue q? seriously?

  • I love Wicked. Evevn if I don't know the language. It's still an amazing show.

  • They have a FIT Fieyro!!! Well at least he looks it from the trailer...We do as well!!:D

  • I totally agree! ^_^ I woiuld love to go see this so fingers crossed as my dad might have to go to Japan for work in the near future!

  • It's funny to hear this language but it sounds great!

  • haha that was cool.. but id much rather hear it in english.. but for the japan ppl that was really good

  • i wanna see this is Japan

  • ?

  • *claps* That was amazing! I need to get this soundtrack.

  • i wanna see i!!! ...i just...need to leard japenses....the guy playing Feryo(sp) is HOT!

    bah..i see it!

  • Oh no. lol

  • Wow. They know how to put on a showing of Wicked over there! It's sounds fantastic!

  • this just proves mezzo-sapranos (elphaba's voice part) are amazing around the world!!!

  • i wish i could see it!

  • i enjoy it

  • ここ はエモラロル シチー

lol. this is awesome in Japan, I watched it with my Japanese class while there :P I begged the teacher to let us go there, and everyone objected to it, but now they thank me cause wicked is cool [:

  • I hate the Galinda!

  • A blonde japanese Glinda.. jealous xD

  • O_O IT IS BEAUTIFUl

  • wow racist

  • me love this long time

  • @_@ SO AMAZON!!!!!

  • looks kool i saw the emglish one it was really amazing

  • it's weird but great to see something like this... but since it's the same production team, looks great!!!

i'd love to see it! ;)

  • i saw this production there it was freakin amazing

  • OMG !! =( =-/

  • This just looks TO GOOD! omg omg

  • rascist!

  • Wow. Not only racist, but completely inaccurate.

If you're gonna make the lyrics Engrish, at least pick something with L's.

"Goodness knows, the wicked's rives are ronery", for example.

    Fail attempt at trolling, m'friend.

  • japan beats us in cartoons, but we kill in musicals. :P

  • I agree

  • Oh wow!!

I want to go see Wicked in Japan!

*Haha, the guy who is Fiyero is pretty hot..

  • I totally agree on the Fiyero thing!

  • Yes, Fiyero IS hot. He is Tao Li from China.

  • r u serious?!

  • not in any way! he is not hot! he ugly!

  • no he is not! he ugly!

  • L

    i agree.

  • WOW! Wicked is in Japan now! SO excited, must see!

I am so sorry, but I had to laugh when I saw the Galinda, she had blond hair and was Japanese...never mind, please don't flame me I was just finding it interesting...

  • What is the Japanese meaning of their version of the title for Defying Gravity?
