Hey why does my bird drop her eggs? Like she'll lay eggs right and after a while she'll push them out of her nest or she abandons them I wonder why? She's a BAD mother it pisses me off when she does that.

if they hatch that is if you have a male and female parents they will take care of the babies for the first few weeks if you are wanting to hand feed there is formula you can get from Petsmart...the babies can be hand fed starting at 2 weeks of age

@tammrdmnd My parakeet layed eggs. Two hatched so far. One baby is doing Great!!! But the other just passed away today. The one thats still alive was born a week ago, and the mother is feeding it. I saw your comment, and are you saying that shell stop taking care of it??? If thats true, the baby is SCREWED!!! I'm not home around the clock like the mother is supposede to. Plz answer, this is URGENT!!!

If you have hand fed a baby its not that hard, you can get a hand feeding formula from PetCo or PetSmart called Kaytee or Zupreem, you mix it with hot water per the directions and than the food can be fed with a small spoon or eye dropper. Anything over 2 weeks old up to weaning can be tamed by hand feeding, but a held baby parent raised can be just as tame and bond with you. The trick is to have them in their own cage by 6 weeks and only you handle them.

hey i have baby parakeets, and im thinking of keeping one to bond with, eyes filly open, fuzz on back and half a fingernail stubs on the wings and a fraction of that on the headwill it still want to bond with me and love me if i dont hand feed it? it was born about a month ago maby i dunno. but ya if you could give me a bunch of tips and info on caring for it then that would be great.

The parents do all of the work, I decided to hand feed my babies starting at 2 weeks of age. If the eggs are being cared for just let mom and dad do the work and enjoy the new family

You do have to check in the box/nest every day though. Especially after the eggs start to hatch. If a chick dies, it'll start to decompose really fast and can make the others sick.

Also, after all the chicks are at least 5 days old, if there are any unhatched eggs in there, you can take them out. (They'll almost definitely be infertile and start to rot.)

Im sorry they all have homes now, I keep in touch with 2 of the new owners and thay are doing well. I even birdsitt the first one hatched from time to time.

Hi, The 4th egg never hatched. and it takes only 20 days for a baby to be fully feathered they grow very fast. they start getting feathers in only a few days but they really dont start looking like parakeets until they are a few weeks old. Breeding the parakeets was a fun enjoyable experience for me and my family.

i breed them, so other people can enjoy them as much as i do, they laid 4 more all 4 hatched and they to all have new homes with good people. It is hard to do but i enjoy shareing them with people.
