Either way, the cartels would sell the drug at a lower price than the legal price set by the "pharmaceutic" stores. In addition, if drugs were to be made legal, only small portions would be given out by these stores, and the cartels will satisfy the demand by giving no restrictions.
It's really a complicated subject; I'm not so sure if the cartels are even willing to give out their arms and engage in a legal market, and make the transition from criminals to pharmacists.

The REAL problem is that all of this cocaine methamphetamine and other high value drugs are being produced in these mass quantities, DESTROY THE CROPS DESTROY THE MANUFACURING PLANTS, and they have nothing left to fight over. its obvious the crops are being allowed to produce product so that this can and will continue until new laws are passed removing our freedoms as individuals

Its just amazing. The answer to the problems are clear. Decriminalize drugs to take the drug industry from the underground. Then launch a real military campaign to rout out the cartels, even if you have to shut down some cities to do it. They can solve this problem so easily, but it is my belief there isnt a desire by either the US or Mexican government to stop this violence, mostly because the government is the biggest drug lord of them all, and actually WANT all this violence and chaos!
