Maybe one common species of Drosophila?
Dipterofauna of Japan is very interesting in another way..

i dunno, maybe or maybe not.
considering the vast diversity of flies, i could not have a slightest clue without seeing adult specimens.
if u r an expert of diptera, can u tell me what is the pair of protrusions (like antennae) found in the head of pupae?
breathing tubes or what?

I´m not expert in this order but i am doing some jobs with that.
The protusions that u speak that it seems like "little hands", are respiratory anterior spiracles. See you my friend. :)
appreciate ur quick answer.
i found the star-shaped tip of the spiracles pretty cool! :)
i like them better when they are still young maggots because when they are full grown fruit flies they get quite annoying.

apart from size, are they so different between the young and the grown?
