Actually keeping your tires inflated is better than offshore drilling because the awards are immediate. Also it saves you as much as a gas tax holiday would.
I'm sick of McCain lying about Obama's positions, like pretending tire pressure is Obama's entire energy plan. When I want to know Obama's positions, I'll consult a neutral source.

exactly right. Obama stated that inflating tires is as good as offshore drilling. People keep making fun of that idea. Except that geophysicists completely agree with Obama! Offshore drilling would only produce 3-4% of production gains...inflating tires would produce 3-4% of gas savings. Obama made a great comment and small-minded individuals keep bothering him about it.
stop spewing stupid democratic talking points! Do you think that we are all riding around on flat tires? You should get your head out of Obama's ass and get a clue.

I think that when I properly inflated the tires on my car and changed my air filter, i took my sunfire from 27 ml/g to 30 ml/g (and yes, i actually calculated this out after keeping track of a few fillups and my odometer) ...if all the american people did this it would save countless gallons of oil. And my car tires weren't flat, they were just a little off. maybe you should check your tires too.
sounds like you haven't been paying attention for some time. I would hope that most people actually take care of their cars on a more regular basis. I know that I do.
Actually, Obama is misleading when he says that properly inflated tires will save 3.3% in fuel costs. In order for your usage to go down that much you would have had to start with 4 under inflated tires. And EVERYONE in the country would have to have 4 under inflated tires EACH. He doesn't know what he is talking about so he quotes NASCAR??? Please the NASCAR people are laughing at him.

Actually you are entirely wrong.
The best estimate available, by the NHTSA, is that at least a quarter of drivers are cruising around on under-inflated tires. In April, the Rubber Manufacturers Association, the Auto Club, the California Highway Patrol and Yokohama Tire Company used those statistics, along with DOT and AAA data, to extrapolate that 2.8-billion gallons of gas are lost every year due to under-inflation of tires.
...a bit more than the gas/year availible from offshore drilling.

You have to be kidding me. But just in case you are not, if 1/4 of people have underinflated tires and they inflate their tires, then EVERYONE would have fully inflated tires.
Do you see now? Or do I have to draw you a picture. In crayon.
Obviously you have your OBAMA googles on and you aren't able to see the hypocracy here. Obaba voted for the Bush energy plan which gave more money to the oil companies.
Obama said that if EVERYONE inflated their tires properly that it would be the equalivelant to offshore drilling. That is a huge assumption on his part. He is assumming the EVERYONE is running around on 4 under inflated tires. I am sure that you don't pay attention to your car, but I do.

Obama is not assuming that. His stats are solid.
It was the Republicans who were holding up the energy bill without the oil subsidies. They wanted to take renewable subsidies out, too. They filibustered it.
We needed an energy bill more badly than we needed to cut the subsidies. Obama did what was necessary to get one passed. You don't always get to vote on perfect bills in an evenly split senate.
Skids 7682, I am not trying to be rude, but you don't understand the situation or the point that others are trying to make here. Most people do not drive around with underinflated tires. Obama is comparing the bump we would get from offshore oil drilling to people taking care of their cars. He said EVERYONE. That is the point you are not hearing. If only 1/4 of the people have underinflated tires the savings drops from 3% to less than 1%. You can't compare apples to oranges. Get it now?

It is you who do not get it. The estimated 2.8 billion gallons/year lost to underinflated tires is just for the 1/4 of drivers. If everyone was driving on underinflated tires, the savings would be 11 billion gallons of gas a year, 4x what offshore drilling would do
Obama is right, as we saw in the impact of demand reduction (driving less) on oil prices (some of it though due to Enron loophole imminent closing.) Demand reduction is the most effective short term weapon against gas prices.
wow, you are really snowed. Drill here Drill NOW!! Obama is wrong on energy and he is wrong on the economy and he is wrong on defense and he is definitely wrong about how he wants to change us to socialism... Keep drinking the koolaid. I hope and pray that Obama does not get elected he would be worse than Jimmy Carter.
I am not saying that adjusting your tire pressure would not help your individual gas usage. I am saying that Obama's figures are wrong. 1st off no way will he get every American to take care of their cars and 2nd not every car is running around on flat tires. I am so tired of trying to explain this to you. You obviously will just believe anything you hear as long as it fits in with the democratic talking points. Obama is wrong and so are you.
