Just purchased this and tried it out twice so far. Assemly is easy if you follow the instructions. I've read the complaints and can say that the stripe contrast is absolutely overstated. I live in central illinois and my lawn is very green and full, therefore i have the ideal lawn, according to the cheerleaders of this product. The stripes I did get are very, very subtle at best even in the bright sunlight. Promo vids and photos stripes are definitely enhanced to dramatize purpose.
Toro has come out with a very simular unit. My only concern is that the roller only attaches to the cross bar at one point, in the middle. Unless your lawn is prefectly smooth, the roller may bounch from side to side causing the stripe to be inconsistant. Have you found that to be an issue?
@MrIwFilms Yep, just sand. Buy a bag of sand which you can fill the Lawn Stryper with to weigh it down. As it rolls it will push the grass down, giving that elegant, professional look.
Next day: neighbor has diamond pattern on the grass.

So all this is, is like a flat roller wheel that is pushed down to weigh down the grass?

@ShamuKid Technically, this is what a lawn striping system is. It's the same technique landscaping pros at ballparks use.

@613RL Once you add the sand or water to weigh it down, the roller works very well to stripe your lawn.
