Orange network in the UK has a full 2mb/s mobile broadband through the HTC handset. You can use the handset as a mobile broadband dongle or just use it on the phone. sure could do with a speed upgrade thats always good but 2mb/s is pretty fast.
how about mobile users?? I love how companies are concerned about themselves. The goal is to make money but not benefit the user. I think android has a lot of potential but if this guy speaks for Google and the other partners, then I don't like their target.
The goal of a company is to make money. It's illegal for them NOT to try and make money. The thing that's great about Android is that it allows companies to make money while also providing a better experience for the consumer instead of the other tactic of gimping a phone's functionality so that they HAVE to go through your services for something (e.g., ringtones, wallpapers, themes, games, etc.)
You said it. And I totally agree but if you listen to what this rep said. he never mentioned the user. He mentioned companies making more money. Everyone but the user what mentioned in this interview. I won't give a corporation of the benefit of the doubt either. I won't assume its a given that they have the consumer in mind. I think Android will be pretty sweet but if this guy truly speaks for Google, then I have a problem with it.
it is amazing how android is offering exactly what Windows Mobile is offering, anyone can develope software for Windows Mobile (WM) and put it up for free or sell it, that way every WM phone is highly customisable to ewhat the user wants, also the latest versions will offer dual touch technology so it will make for a better experience than other mobile OS's. its not really the operating system that is the issue, it is actually the processor speed of the devices WM runs on.
no matter what happens apple will always be on top because they aren't copying anyone so everyone else is always 1 step behide them. In fact I bet that apple is creating a new iPhone right now.
I have an iPhone and it is the best phone ever made..
so take that to anyone that is in denial of apple. !
UGH! Why does everyone think that apple didn't copy anyone. Apple copied other companies plenty and slapped make-up on it to make it look new. Apple copied to create their FrontRow, TimeMachine, Safari, iPod, user interface design for OS X, and above all, they make you pay 99$ for dot mac which even MS offers for free as well as other competitors which are better. Apple copied plenty, and don't get me wrong, I like apple, just wish they didn't come out with something new every year and a half.

U realize that Vista copied OS X like hardcore, to the bone of its coding. AND IT STILL SUCKS!
LOL
Come one' you really want iPod MINI to be the best small mp3 player right now in 2008. Please..... You just not realistic. How else you gonna move forward with a player that is on sale for 5 years. ... Just do your research before you comment....
Everyone does have an iPod and an iPhone...not because its Apple. BECAUSE IT WORKS!

But there are stuff in OS X that copied straight from Windows. TimeMachine is old and already done 10+ years ago, front row was done like 5+ or more years ago.
Plus reason why most Apple products works, is because they develop on strict hardware requirements. Unlike Microsoft, they ahve to develope and support for a wide variety of hardware & software.
whihc why apple is bettert becouse it just works when you install xp or vista on a mac it just works no problems what so ever stricked hardware well if thats what it takes mfro thisngs to JUST WORKS then im very much fine with as with the copying OSs dont usually copy i think of it as getting witht he program osx need a backup then tthere you go os osx needed a full screen music vieo player therre you go dont BTW i use a pc so im not some mac fanatic any microsoft did copy apples gui back in '84
Vista was in development a full year before apples new OSX was even out. I don't think they really were just copying, but it might have influenced them to work harder on some areas. Also, it's not like only Apple has the rights to use high resolution icons or 3d effects. Plus, most of the stuff from Apple was from Unix anyway.
Also, I would like to point out to you Android is not from Microsoft its by Google.
I love windows mobile, it's just they use the same tactics over and over, until someone developes something new then they catch up to speed with some unique features here and there. Honestly they need to hire a new guy for coming up with new product designs that work and are benefitial. I like Vista, I like OS X, the iPhone I don't have but I like it too. I like all the companies because one offers something over the other. Just wish people would stop saying like iPhone copy cat and bs like that
Andriod is set to be a huge hit in Europe and Japan where the iPhone is laughed at for lacking 3G. While lack of 3G networks might be a problem in the US, in these the major mobile phone markets, the majority of users already have 3G terminals.
Google are experts at interfaces, so I'm sure this will benifit a wide range of phones.
Also, this huge push for an open platform will hopefully marginalise Verizone, who are arrogant enough to claim they have a consistuation right over parts of the electromagnetic spectrum.
There isnt going to be a "g-phone", the objective is to make a lot of different phones a "g-phone", sorta like many different sort of computers using the same OS. Sure, people that think they are "edgy" and who hate apple senslessly will wanna be 'g-phone' their crappy cellphone.
But most people love the exclusivity, style and intutive nature of apples i-phone.
Its like the old addage "often imitated, but never duplicated"
The very large number of kick-ass apps on Android-based phones will bury iPhone in short order. And you'll have hardware with and without touchscreens, virtual and real keyboards, bare-bones Android on cheap hardware, and sick phones loaded with vastly more capabilities than the iPhone such as to tear it a new arse in short order. *Open Platform*

You're thinking of Gobuntu (only one "o"). Check it out on Wikipedia, they explain things fairly well.

There's already a Google OS, its gOS and its based of Linux.

Be careful, gOS has no affiliation with Google or their partners. gOS stands for "good OS" not google OS
