  • Smart women are sexy.

  • English hasn't had a spelling reform since 1895, america has bastardiSed our language, now they want to fuck with the spoken to written word, they even call the spelling of “COLOUR” Canadian spelling.. FUCK OFF get a life bitch. Remember your ancestry!

  • She`s cute !

  • WHITE BLOUSE LIBRARY GIRL.

  • DAYUMMMM. DAT BITCH IS SLAMMIN.

  • I'd like to split HER infinitives.

  • I want to be part of the Grammar police people. No, but for real. ^_*

  • @GRTrocker666

I guess grammar is important, but what about spelling??

  • I just can't resist a girl what talks proper like what I do.

  • @cottonwhiskersuk - You mean "I just can't resist a girl whom might can talk as good as I does."

  • I seriously want to nail her. Proper grammar is sexy as hell.

  • @junior2004hasz it also helps that she's got quite a slamming body.

  • @BGH122 - you better believe it - right on !!

  • I agree. I think grammer is important.

  • Apparently spelling isn't though. "Grammer?"

  • I subscribed, can't wait!

  • what a milf!

  • Wow. I would have never expected so many errors in our world. XD Nice job. I may listen to your podcasts pretty soon.

  • I listen to your programs on my iPhone as I'm driving -- something I do a lot for my job. Keep up the great work!!

  • Just bought her book as a birthday present for a friend of mine; she's in dire need of it!

  • Nice blouse. She's got the whole prim librarian vibe 24/7. I imagine a lot of philosophy undergrads are fantasizing about a spanking for errant commas.

  • plz watch"Daria and Kali dancing to bartender" thnx

  • Grammer Girl! Youve changed my life!!!!! I never really thort that grammer mattered : untill today!!!!!!

    Wow!

  • I think hibouowl meant "You've changed my life! I never really thought that grammar mattered, until today!"

    :p

  • Yes, I did. I was being a sarcastic bitch...Obviously you didn't grasp that.

  • Yay, apparently my spelling was correct. Thanks for checking it ;)

  • beatiful girl and funny lessons thank you very much for everything i hope to give us more information and lessons about TOFEL test best wishes

  • I love your podcast.

However, I would have to quibble about your nomenclature of the "exclamation point" on this video. Surely, it's 'exclamation mark'.

  • In America, it's usually "point".

    In England, it's usually "mark".

  • Somebody's a grammar nazi

  • Hey Grammar Girl,

Thanks for the wonderful grammar lessons.

  • Wow. I just found you YouTube videos. They're great. You look just as I had imagined you from your podcast and Twitter. Gush. Gush.

Anyway, how about a Wikigrammer for Standard American English? I think that you are just the person to give it an initial push. I know that you are already much too busy for another project. Still, you know what they say about busy people.

  • Go Grammar Girl. Got to keep some

standardization in speech & writing; eventually people on the W. coast will fail to communicate w/those on East. (Tower of Babel Syndrome) It's not so simple though. In the South you have or had poor Whites & Blacks (take note, jhonnyboy) who; w/o much schooling created almost perfect metaphors for a given situation. ("I'm more nervous than a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs...."); et al. ("School of Hard Knocks" v Wellesley English major)

  • Pure pettifoggery

  • Danke, Grammar girl!

  • hey look someone almost has the same profile as meh cool

  • Please do a video on the proper use of the words "I" and "me". I can't stand it. If I hear another stupid fucking yuppie use "I" when "me" is correct, I'm going to crack.

Also, a tutorial on dependant and independent clauses would be appreciated.

  • grammer girl ca n eat chocolate salty Balls.

notice i misspeled gramma and put can spaced wich is a sentace fragment and b in balls is capitalized. oh shit

  • grammar girl sux my freakin engilsh teacher makes us do this Bull sh*t and i h8 it

  • Us, too!

  • same here

  • Well apparently the podcasts aren't even working, judging by the travesty that is your grammar. It's alright, just make sure to avoid writing or speaking formally. I'm sure people won't notice as easily.

  • I suggest to lear to cook french fries. McDonalds will be your future.

  • i make all A's im just saying that i think this is retarded that the school district relies on her to teach a bunch of crap like correcting beach signs

  • My English teacher makes us do this obscene bullshit. And I'm losing points for not doing it I hate you Grammer Girl!!!!

  • Great video! I'm definitely into grammar, so I appreciate what Grammar Girl does. Go, Grammar Girl!

  • this were an real good video, me liked it much. what was she talking about? Shes' quite clever! Me like the way she eloquent speak. I seen another video by she, but this is by far the bestest, my teacher says thats called a superlative, but I doesn't fully understand what that mean. Me real hate cacologies and solecisms, they real effect me much. The exclamation point bon mot were real funny! Quite good! Bye!

  • I just came across this. Wow, Grammar Girl is very interesting in a good way! She reminds me of my former, she was always happy, I think that's what makes teaching so much better for people. When the teacher is happy, because it makes the student like them and their subject they teach. It grabs their attention better.

  • Grammar girl - thank you for all of your hard work! We appreciate how you help us speak our stupid language! (Is that too many !!!)

  • Love the Grammar Girl podcast..!

  • Grammar girl, you rock. I not even sure that a comma belonged there.

  • I am confused...I thought that a semi-colon was used to show ownership. Like "Bills' car" and then used this way when talking about someone. Like "Bill's coming to get his car" The ' taking the place of "is"....Did I explain that right? It sounds confusing but I know what I mean....and when I see a sign like "Bill's House" that does not look right to me. It should be "Bills' house" not "Bill's...."

  • If the man's name was Bills, then you would be right. Apostrophes only come after the s if the word ending in an s is possessive of something.

For example, "the girls' flight leaves soon," would mean the flight of multiple girls leaves soon.

If you changed it to, "the girl's flight leaves soon," that would mean one girl's flight if leaving soon.

    I hope this is helpful.

  • By the way, a semicolon is this character ";"

not an apostrophe(') which is what you used.

  • grammar girl, i think ur, ooops,, excuse me

I think you are amazing, will you teach me English?! i speak it as an second language,

and I really suck at it , cant you tell.?

i would give anything to speak English properly. and by the way I think you are sexy and beautiful, i just hope she's not married ,or engage.does any have her e-mail?

    ?

  • Grammar girl, I just watched you on oprah, you are great!

  • haha me too

  • I am going to her booksigning in Phoenix, I can't wait.

  • It's a non-regional American dialect, as far as I can tell. I love her voice; it's one of the reasons I listen to the show (aside from the grammar lessons, of course!)

  • Learrn those simple grammurrr rules. Grammurr girrrl. Forr funnnn.

  • Cute and intelligent. Will you marry me?

  • I listened to one of her shows before watching this, and she looks nothing like I expected her to.

  • Does a great podcast and has an excellent "radio" voice.

She is cuter than I thought she would be.

  • GG says "frAY-galot" for fragalot - i wonder whence her accent comes.

  • Grammar Girl has a big ol' RUMP!

I have a boner for GRAMMAR GIRL! (HA)

  • I love it.

  • Hi, my name is George, I is your leader. Them terrorists hate us fer are grammar!

  • Wow, a slam at Bush's problems with public speaking. That is just so fresh and edgy.

  • Wow, this woman is amazing, correct grammar is so important.

  • My friends and family have always called me the grammar police. What can I say? I had a great English teacher in high school.

How do I feel about Grammar Girl?

Aside from being intelligent and providing an awesome service to the English-speaking world... Wow!!! Grammar Girl is HOT!!!

  • You don't learn grammar in school, you learn it by reading top quality books. Sadly, school only teaches you how to pass exams.

  • You had a teacher WHO was effective, not THAT.

  • Looks like he needs to go back to school ;)

  • Grammar girl had an episode about "Who vs. That" and although "that" is usually used for objects, not people, it is still acceptable to say "I had a teacher THAT..."

  • It's not acceptable in American English.

  • The American Heritage Dictionary says otherwise...she says so in the "Who versus That" episode.

  • It's wrong in AP Styling. I only use AP Styling. I don't use MLA.

  • Well I use MLA style, but I think if Grammar Girl says it's okay, then it must be okay.

  • MLA rules.

  • We enjoy the Grammar Girl.I play your podcasts for my students in English class occasionally. I have them convinced that I have a mad crush on you because you consider proper grammar so important! I have fun with your podcasts. Keep it up.

  • I counted seven (!) grammar errors in the previous post.

  • i'm sorry but honestly this sounds pretty sad:::::::!!!::!:: i bet your one of those people who correct people and dont make fun of them! that is just sad.

  • It's you're, not your.

  • That was awesome. I agree with LenEdgerly in saying that at first it was a bit odd hearing that familiar voice coming out of someone I didn't recognize so easily. That being said, I really liked this addition. I think a video podcast would be great. Let's do it!

Reading is sexy. And so is proper grammar.

  • It's disorienting to see the person after getting used to the voice, because for a while you can't really believe the two are one. By the end of the video, I'd made the transition, glad to have this pleasant-looking person replace the image I'd created in my mind (of a dour librarian, frankly, who would never be caught dead on a beach). Video is a terrific addition. I especially liked the bit with the sign. There would be so many visual starters for grammar tips, using a camera. Good luck!

  • That was cool!

  • Hi Girl Grammar,

I want to say: Congratulations for be one of the top five non-fiction audiobooks of 2007.

By the way, you're voice is lovely.

PD: My native language is Spanish, so forgive my mistakes. ;-)

  • wow, thats cool, i`m gonna check it out :D

  • I am in love with Grammar Girl!

  • Your lessons are really needed in this day and age. I went to Catholic school in the 1940s and received an excellent grammar education (which I hated at the time and have thanked the nuns for as an adult!). But it's one of my pet peeves too, people who have no concept of grammar or punctuation.

So--have you dealt with the interrobang?

  • Grammar is just so cool, guys!

  • mignon is technically not actually a real name

  • My sister's name is "Minyon," which is derrived from "mignon."

  • What does oppositronic really know? A name is anything one wishes to invent. Just look at all of the new names out there... such as my grandson's name Kayano. Not real? Sure it is and I will bet we will see it more in his future. Doesn't take long for people to pick up a name they like and viola! It is acceptable!

  • no, the only acceptable names are those found in the bible. all others will result in eternal damnation in hellfire with weeping and gnashing of teeth

  • finally, someone understands me

  • well... see you there! Don't see oppositronic in the bible.

  • lol

  • Uh you mean because it's an adjective? Like Felicia / Felix, Beau, Belle, Augustus, Justin(e)?

  • a lot is two words

  • LOVE IT. They sellQuick & Dirty Tips BOOKS now. I saw in Barnes & Noble

  • This looks cool

  • I study English at Interlingua in Mexico. I just love Grammar girl podacast. Thank you.

  • Maybe her producers thought she needed to look more like a nerd.

  • Aw man, you totally should just muruade the internet

  • Well Grammer Girl seems to be one of the best ideas for youtube since video cams were made for computers.

    TYFS

  • Why does the Grammar Girl cartoon look nothing like the actual person?

  • Huh?

  • I Love Grammer Girl. It Helps Me out beyond and Beyond.
