Im not too sure how an MR2 would handle auto-x. I'd say go with an Integra mainly for ease of working on/fixing things. MR2 parts are expensive and hard to find.
If you had an Integra GSR with a Type R rear sway bar, some good coilovers like Koni yellows with GC, intake, headers, maybe exhaust. You would be fast.
the camera angle for this was perfect seeing it fly out liek that, pretty sweet. got a 91 GS handles like it on ralls, but the oversteers a bit tricky
Energy Suspension urethane bushings, Koni Sport shocks, spring rates were 570f/470r, and it was running 15x7 Kosei wheels with 205/50-15 Azenis RT-615. Stock sway bars, stock brakes with MetalMaster brake pads all around.
love it. nice driving

And definetely get some good tires. Falken Azenis or some slicks would be great.

what coilovers are you running?
some sway bars would REALLY help some of that body roll. car would do well with, perhaps a Suspension Techniques Front and an ITR rear sway bar.
i've got ST front and rear, with Koni Yellows and Ground Control coils (380F/450R)
