  • 2 people are sick and don´t know to dance even have no soul. This hit is amazing

  • +1

  • imagine... 80's elvis...

  • Elvis was great in his own Era, and Michael was great in His, they can't be compared because they were from different era's. now you can compare Michael Jackson to prince and say that MJ was way greater, just as you can compare Elvis to Jerry Lee lewis and ay Elvis was way better.

  • i really dont like it when people make a tribute it makes me feel sad

  • Where can I buy this dvd from. I love It.XXXXXXXXXX

  • If you don't own this on CD, get it. I've listened to mine at least 1000 times! It's incredible. It's called (just as this video says) "Jacksons Live." Better buy two copies because you'll surely wear out just one copy.

  • I love this song..

  • its called.. heart break hotel...!

  • very nice concert

  • THANK GOD for HD!!!

  • Following thirdeyeopeningtv's logic blacks can't use any musical instruments or musical scales because they were all created by white men. PERIOD.

  • The guitar solo rocked!! Michael's voice sounds so good here. Just think in a couple of years Thriller would be released and Michael's career would soar into outerspace. At that time who would of known the future. I loved seeing the Jackson's perform together on stage and tv. They had many great songs.

  • @Mickey200916 this is not true. A lot of instruments came out of Africa, such as the drum. Check your history.

  • @MizJoy4u What does this have to do with my comment?? Don't read into more than I'm writing!! I'm just commenting on the performance.

  • @Mickey200916 Sorry the comment was meant for @LvnAction who claim only white folk created musical instruments.

  • I love this version better than the victory tour version because this one is funkier! Woooo!

  • Why can't they release the Jacksons concerts on DVD?

  • u ever did the guitar solo went off i aint never heard it playedlike that before

  • My 2nd favorite song off the TRIUMPH LP. Happy Birthday, Michael! I love you, alwayz... :o)

  • okay this year is 1981 right? how come Van Halen and all those other bands get good quality camera but The Jacksons don't?

  • @xXteknomaticXx The Jacksons dont need good quality cameras! Even in this video their talent shines through :)

  • U have GOT to tell me where to download this live audio version? It is amazing!

  • @Dom20002007 You can purchase the Jacksons Live Album its also on youtube just search jacksons live its at the bottom :}

  • I LOVE this version of HeartBreak Hotel. Plus it's when MJ had pure soul and was performing with his brothers. I liked their 2001 reunion but this is the Quintessential Jacksons!

  • Elvis and Michael both are considered by many as the two biggest cultural icons in the history of entertainment. But as far as comparison goes, there is none really between the two. My point is this;If they both were alive and had concerts on the same dates and time, who would you pay to see? The people make the stars.

  • @babydollatl 1. Only fat trashy girls say 'hubby'... and 2. He is dead and he didn't know you.

  • Love Michael in that oufit, so gorgeous.

  • wee michael was busting it while elvis was still alive but that was at elvis lowest but still MJ was way ahead of his time songs like can you feel it this song here billie jean beat it were far too good for the early 80s more like early 2000,s tunes

  • Elvis was great. I respect Elvis for the many ways he used his voice, the risks he took making movies, and the fact that he studied all types of music. Having said that... He was not the best. In terms of pure talent Michael Jackson was the best entertainer there ever was. Could dance like astaire, yet hoof like James Brown. Innovative with movement and music, he transcended races and generations before puberty. There is no comparision here.

  • Put it like this Elvis was normal but Michael was Abnormal.Elvis was agile,Michael was super agile. Elvis was terestrial but Michael was extra terestrial.Elvis was natural but Michael was supernatural. My point is there is no comparison, Michael superceeded Elvis by an eternal Margin...Period...End of story in life and in death.

  • @bigflair001 I know, anyone who questions that MJ was superior to Elvis is clearly dellusional. Elvis could only sing well, MJ had much more in his locker.

  • Now I am done with this little debate. Peace!

  • @THETRUTHISLIKESOAP,

You are completely twisting my comment to try to make your own point. I meant that EP and MJ each in their own way were two of the biggest influences in poplular music. But they each represent two different generations, so my point was that it is not fair to draw comparisons on thier styles because they are each distinct and relevant to their eras. Again, they both are the biggest stars in music history. That cannot be disputed, no matter how you want to twist it.

  • Let us not argue.

I am simply saying that Michael Jackson is superior to Elvis Presley.

  • Awesome. His voice was pure as snow.

  • Oh, and by the way...google "Elvis Presley and B.B. King" and a photo of the two of them might come up. And that photo was taken by an AFRICAN-AMERICAN photographer...the late Earnest Withers.

  • Um...OK people once and for all knock off the Elvis v. MJ comparisons!! And knock off the completely untrue comments about EP being a bigot. I mean, seriously, how do you know what he thought of African Americans...did you know the man?? EP and MJ represented two entirely different genre of music and they were from different genterations. It's hardly fair to compare the two. The one thing that they both did was change popular music forever. No one can dispute that.

  • Michael Jackson was without doubt a much greater artist than E.P.

Michael was a better singer and dancer,Michael Jackson wrote his own songs too.

Michael Jackson is the biggest selling solo artist in history...he has no peers so you're right;comparisons to EP are foolish.

  • there would be no EP if there weren't black folk; EP is black music with a white face.

  • @soulgirl66 Yes I can dispute this comment, first of all, elvis never change popular music like Michael did. He was influence by Black artists who were already established and were already popular in their own right. like Chuck Berry, Little Richard, James Brown, and Jackie Wilson etc..

  • @soulgirl66 On the other hand Michael was influenced as well by his soul predeccesors but the difference was, he sum up their dance styles, recreated them with his divine talent and made them Magical. Elvis tried to do the same but fell terribly short. He did'nt have Magic in his performance but MJ did continuously...

  • I love this song!!

  • michael jackson vocals where at there best during the truimph tour.

  • Long Live MIKE!

  • Amazing <3

    i love it so much!!!

  • Sorry! this song is "Heartbreak Hotel" regardless of what the now legal name says. Sorry ELVIS!!!!!

  • Geezzz.. Mike sounds sooo good!!!

May his angelic voice rest in peace

  • can't listen to it. too painful

  • It's okay, he would want you to be happy.

  • For what its worth.... on the original vinyl record album, this song WAS printed on the record AND sleeve as "Heartbreak Hotel".

  • I know on the cd it says this place hotel aka heart break hotel. he named it heart break hotel and that is what it is got dammit, lol. he said he didnt even like elvis' music or think anything of him.

  • Elvis was a racist towards Black, so we can understand him.

  • that's not true, what are you talking about? don't you know that some of back up dancers of elvis were blacks? what planet are you came from?

  • You must be stupid or something? Back than most Black musicians were only given those type of positions to play stupid. Elvis was, and like John Wayne a straight up racist and both of them can kiss my ass, if they were still alive.

  • Also keep in mind that even thought Elvis like to sing rock & roll he always love gospel music, he is from the south, and Memphis had,and continues to have it share of racism, but my point is that can't nobody make that kind of music sound so good like Black singers, or even dancers.

  • i always wonder how he never got caught in the wire of the mic..

  • Cause he is the King!!!

  • yeah ur right

  • @zhan99 I wonder the same thing. I have yet to see Mike make a mistake onstage in any old footage.

  • I don't know how true it is (I mean I have never personally seen this footage) but I read in one of the MJ biographies that he once fell on stage and broke his nose. And this was what began the reconstructive/cosmetic surgery on his nose.

    :( The late Michael Jackson

RIP my brother... LONG LIVE THE KING FOREVER!

  • @Dar20002000 I heard that somewhere too, but the version I heard was that it happened during a rehearsal? Who knows

  • Sorry Corefflex, the title of the song is 'This place Hotel'. They couldn't call it otherwise as there were copyright issues concerning Elvis Presley and his song 'Heartbreak Hotel' smarty-pants.

  • p.s. The name of the song is:

    HEARTBREAK HOTEL!

Please correct the record. This other name is some misnomer.

  • I was at this concert in Madison Sqaure Garden in NYC. This was the best concert of all time! Without exception! Even better than ones They've done after. The closest second being the concert at

the Apollo in Harlem, back in 1971 or 1972. I was there for that one too and became an instant Michael Jackson FIENE!

  • That would be too good too be true. Do you really think we could be that lucky.

  • They need to re-release this on a DVD. Digitally remastered, etc. Seriously.

  • Awesome job!

  • go tito go tito go!!

  • Just saying that artists are influenced by others. MJ said he was influenced by Motown, Beatles, Carpenters (interview 1983 on youtube). I think Elvis made no secret of being influenced by gospel music.

  • @ thirdeyeopeningtv Elvis was influenced by and combined different music styles into a new genre. He also had great vocal versatility, look up "Elvis Blue Moon".

  • michael is the best

  • michael is in his own arena . elvis was not even close. today michael has sold a billion records. madona, elvis and the beatles together has not even sold half look it up

  • I am so with you, Casey18735. I have always loved this song but when I saw it performed lived, I really loved this song. R.I.P, MJ...

  • I like this song perforned live. I especially like the part in which Tito echos MJ's voice with his guitar.

  • True entertainment R.I.P. MJ.

  • They should release the old tours on DVD.

  • @YavuZ611 -- PLEASE RELEASE THE EARLY TOURS ON DVD!!!

    PLEASE!

  • @YavuZ611 I so agree!

  • Comment removed

  • wow, where did you get this from? Please put more of this online. PLEASE!!

  • WOW! Michael Marlon Tito, Randy and Jermaine! That album is one of my favorite

  • I think you mean Jackie...Jermaine had been out of the group at least 6 years by then. ;-)

  • !! Yo check Tito.. He's Good Yo !!

  • OMG!!! Michael's intro at the beginning is crazy!! If they could bottle up his energy and give it to everyone on earth, this planet would tremble. Simply Sensational!!! I've loved these guys since '77. I was born in '73....lol

  • another favorite of mine..amazing like everything he did

  • about the satin pants ikr!!!!!

  • Michael was working those white satin pants! No one could roll thru with those kind of outfits today but it was so hot for that time

  • i love this ssong.. "she said meet me right here at noon, this is hheeaarrtbbrreeak hoteeelll!"

  • IMO out of the last three tours the brothers did Triumph was the one to see. Destiny looks cool , and IMO it looks like he did not want to be at the Victory tour but he did it for his family and the fans, but he had so much raw energy during the Off the Wall Triumph years... He was a great entertainer.

  • I agree wholeheartly!!! This tour was OFF THE HOOK!!! They took no prisonersat this concert. And they performed like they had something to prove to people and DESTROYED THE STAGE!!!

  • spyderj1999....I agree with you as well. Since MJ's transition I have been watching a lot of footage from his tours both with his brothers and his solo career. This tour is off the charts as far as the pure entertainment value and showing the musical maturity the Jacksons had reached at that time. I have said before in another comments thread that they should release this tour on DVD. But be patient, boys and girls...I think in time the powers that be will see the demand and will do so. LOL

  • WOW

  • this is really well done. probably my favorite song that MJ wrote. thanks good job

  • I love this song. Michael wrote it.

  • I really don't what bring this subject about. It shouldn't be bought up. Y'all can argue on this subject all day. I'm not really a Michael's fan or Elvis. But I do love Michael's music. The thing is Elvis is the king of rock and MJ is the king of pop. Let's leave it as that. As far as whites invented instruments, gets your facts straight. Whites didn't invented all instruments. Not even most. you need to check your history. Don't forget other nationalities too.

  • You don't like MJ or Elvis?

  • Much agreed, cept the Elvis being the King of rock, I'd agree he's the most popular and was cool but, There are and were MUCH better Rock artist than Elvis, Chuck Berry's music wipes the floor with Elvis.

But why this conversation!? This song is AWESOME!

  • I agree with you about Elvis not being the king of rock. But that's what lots of people label him as although little richard is the one who really started rock n roll. If there were no little richard, there would be no Elvis, Rolling Stones or Beatles. I look at what people wrote yesterday. When I saw that ignorant statement that somebody wrote about Whites created instruments, I have to respond. I really don't care too much about labels. Everybody will have their own opinion just like beauty.

  • Comment removed

  • "if black ppl wasn't brought over here"... what are you a native american?

  • What instruments invented by white people, lmao? You white people are so ignorant, but it's not your fault. You've inherited lies. Golf and tennis were invented by the descendants of the anglo-saxons and the scots, who were BLACK. Brass, woodwind, and string instruments were invented by blacks from Egypt and the middle east. Classical music was brought into Europe by the Moors. You don't know a damn thing. What u white people invented was living in caves like in the movie, "Quest for Fire" lol.

  • Well said, XTRABIG. I have some Great Aunts and cousins in the rural areas outside of Memphis who remember Elvis' visits to their church. They said he was totally enthralled by the sheer power and soul of Black singers. They also went on to say that he was courteous and mannerable, and they had no problem feeding him and making him feel welcome. To be sure, Elvis was never our King he was a student and then a conduit.

  • Mike was never a nobody, Zecalran. Some of us knew he was the greatest from day one. Elvis copied the Black sound. If things were correct in America Jackie Wilson would have eclipsed Elvis by degrees, but Colonel Parker (Elvis manager) knew that "If I can find a white man with some of the Black rhythm I'll make a million bucks". Elvis is a copy cat.

  • Quite true.

  • This song is called "THIS PLACE HOTEL"!!!! Knowledge people, knowledge!

  • thank you. And to all the people who think Elvis was original..he was not. Elvis attended a black church and copied the style: singing, dancing, rhythms...look it up!! He even invited his white friends as a youngster to see what "the negroes are doing in here"

Elvis as far as I know just never gave credit for where he copied his style from...that was his flaw. Michael Jackson clearly copied some break dancing moves from the late 70's of NYC but he could already dance...

  • This song and particularly this performance is merely stunning!

  • how could anyone think this was a different version of elvis's song, they clearly different songs that share the same name. Both Great songs though

  • and i like this heartbreak hotel BETTER than elvis' verson. this version is sooooooooooo much better!

  • I don't think it's the same song you know. Which is why the name was changed to 'This Place Hotel'.

So it's not as if this 'version' is better than Elvis'. They're two different songs which happen to have had the same name for a while.

  • ummm

1st, he wrote this song almost 20 years before he even met lisa maire

2nd, just because he wasn't an Elvis fan doesn't mean that he couldn't marry his daughter.

  • Comment removed

  • when was michael a nobody? He's been performing since 5 unless you are referring to his 4 year old days

  • lol yaiqab...come on now. Lets just keep on loving mj,cause he the best and no one can or will ever top that!!....I love you mj..always.xxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • how is your comment relevant to what I said? I loved michael before he died, before everybody jumped on the MJ band wagon- that's why I defend comments like "when he was a nobody"

  • My comment was not to what you said..actually! And i loved and love mj too and im the first to jump in and defend him, always have and always will.

  • haha lol 4 year old days i knw right ....

  • I know its been said but when was MJ a nobody? If Elvis went to a jackson 5 gig.. it would have been when he was already a somebody.. their first 4 songs were number 1's!

  • Elvis was rock and soul and his talents were limited. Michael's talents were limitless. His music reached far beyond the U.S. into countries we've never heard of. Elvis didn't do that sh!t - why do some people act like he made a big impact to anyone other than white people? And I don't mean that in any offense I just mean they were his greatest fans. Michael's fans are black, white, indian, tunisian whatever because his music was just as diverse as his fan base.

  • Elvis's fat ass was found dead in his bathroom while eating a damn sandwhich.Elvis was long forgotten & dried by da time he died.Elvis SUCKED & stole his music from BLACK PEOPLE.

  • Elvis' home is a shrine people visit more than any other home except the White House. He has been dead for over 32 years, how about that fact!!!

  • Elvis is OK but Michael Jackson is the superlative performer

.Michael Jackson is the ONLY artist to sell more than 100m records outside of America.

He holds the record for the most successful concert series(London 1988)

He has had more no.1 singles than any other male artist(13)

He is the first person in the history of the charts to enter at no.1

Michael Jackson is the most succesful artist that has ever lived.

    How about these facts!!!

  • Michael Jackson is musically superior to Elvis in every way!!

There is no argument about it.The facts speak for themselves.

Michael Jackson has NO musical peers.

  • Elvis took his dance move from the black baptist preacher down south he like the way they move. Elvis is in no way shape or form can be compared to Michael Jackson. Elvis was prejudice, but he would take the voices of blacks so he could shine. The why he song gospel like a black guy. He did one thing like a white guy though he use cocaine. He is so unoriginal ha. If you dont believe me look it up

  • Michael will be remembered 100 years after his death. Elvis was never a international superstar where people of EVERY RACE, EVERY COUNTRY and EVERY CONTINENT owned his music. When Michael died, even COUNTRY radio stations paid tribute to him. Trust and believe that when Elvis died R&B stations or other genres didn't even mention his death on the radio. Elvis became popular after his death. Heck he never performed outside of North America.

  • That's true Kimmy1984..

  • @thirdeyeopeningtv OMG I LOL'ed HAHAHA

  • @thirdeyeopeningtv Super true, Ive got a collection of 45000 (forty five th) vinyls , soul, jazz, funk. blues, R&B, discofunk, nothern soul. funky jazz ect...and Ive heard million rip offs from records in my collection made from a lot of 'pop' artists who made easy and more commercial, amazing music which is going to be forgotten,

this is one the biggest injustices in music and I really have to star writing somewhere to say somethin' about it...

  • @thirdeyeopeningtv Elvis had alot of black friends. He wasn't prejudiced. But you become like what you hang around with. Elvis loved black people and their music. And the black folks liked him too. Nothing wrong with Elvis appreciating Black Music.

  • @sandyabernathy AMEN!!!

  • @sandyabernathy no,it's not but that dude make statements saying that the only thing a nigger could do was shine his shoes, that was wrong.

  • @mightyblack1 I agree. That was wrong for someone to make such a prejudiced statement.

  • @sandyabernathy that's I don't like his ass dead or living.

  • @thirdeyeopeningtv that's the true and them white folks know it but won't admit it.

  • @thirdeyeopeningtv No the fuck he didn't. You're a dumbass and so are the other 49 people who gave you a thumbs up for that stupid ass comment. You should seriously go kill yourself.

  • @thirdeyeopeningtv Unecessary comment

  • @Yatess100 lol o well DEAL WITH IT

  • the ironic part about all of this is that michael went on my marry elvis presley's daughter lisa marie! XD

  • Trying to compete with Elvis the real deal! n then he lied that he wasn't even an Elvis fan then he went married Elvis' daughter!! n then he wrote this song!

  • Damn, all yo iinfo is backwards

    1. Says he's not an Elvis fan

    2. Writes song

    3. Marries Lisa Marie Presley

  • In the beginning they had to name it This Place Hotel because of copyrights be cause someone else (I think Elvis had a song called Heartbreak Hotel. Later after if was released they let them change it to Heartbreak Hotel

  • "The Place Hotel" is the actual name of the song, even though the lyrics refers to the Heartbreak Hotel. Go figures.

  • he was a good man we will all miss him

    i would

  • Now, let me get this straight: the name of this song is "Heartbreak Hotel", right?

Where did "This Place Hotel" come from?

  • Because the elvis presley estate was bitching about the song name as you can see this song is nothing like his song. so they change it

  • PLUS @ that time neither the Jackson Family,Micheal nor CBS Records wanted the comparison to Elvis..

Pure coincidence but there are always songs w/the same title that are nothing alike as far as content..

The record label put the "THIS PLACE HOTEL" title on the album/cassette when they started shipping.

  • Elvis is not even in mj league there death is proving that.

  • exactly , elvis couldnt hold a fucking candle to mj

  • This is for all of the idiots that doesn't know which song is which. This Hotel song by the Jackson's has nothing to do with Elvis Presley's Heartbreak Hotel from 1956, a No.1 by the way. These are two different songs that happen to share a line. So no comparison. For the record they were both Kings of two different genres of music, Jackson had respect for Elvis as an artist, so both Elvis and Michael haters should show some respect.

  • The difference is that Elvis is the King of Rock to whites. Michael is the King of Pop to Everyone..white, black, latino, asian...whatever. The only thing Michael didn't do is play an instrument...Prince did play instruments, write songs, produce....but he didn't dance...otherwise Wow!!!

  • i think he played drums on beat it, and he wrote the majority of his songs, specially in bad, and he wrote the riff of beat, so i guess that he knew how to play drums, guitar and keyboard, not in the same quality like prince, but he played instruments. And he produced the majority of history album disc 2.

  • Actually, the song is called Heartbreak Hotel!

  • thank you veryyy much bro the live version always rocks (i don't apreciate the album version) and the quality is great!! many thanks!

  • i luv the early michael jackson performances but i just realize he's been doing the same heartbreakhotel routin since 1981 mic u need to change it up...lol
