@NaMi21100 lol, forget what I commented >.< that was another song lol, but this hmm... I think it's written just for this one performance. (she wrote it herself cute huh~)
BASICALLY, what we see in this video is an American art form. You wouldn't say "salsa" or "reggae" originated in Africa, even though they were influenced by African sounds and rhythms. People only do that to American art forms, because "Americans have no culture."
@stfumvs I know my hip-hop history. I actually got that same thing wrong, in the beginning, because a lot of people say "hip-hop/rap started in Africa," but what they mean is, hip-hop/rap style beats, rhythms, and sounds started in Africa, was brought to the Americas(by slavery), and evolved as different forms of music (there was "rapping" before there was "rap" as we know it today), until hip-hop emerged in the late 70s/early 80s. Hip-hop/rap started in America, point blank.
@supportjayparkjaebeo nor Tasha...she makes CL look like a baby in comparison (im not hatin on CL, im just sayin that Tasha is like a one ina 100 years rapper)
@TrulyYoursAbby This is such a retarded response. Being black doesn't mean you are a natural rapper, idiot. If that was the case, all black people would be shooting out albums and wouldn't have to work their butt off to survive in this horrible world.
@TrulyYoursAbby "unlike T whose dad is black, (i sincerely respect T though) so black runs on her blood, obviously she knows rap music better than her junior CL" RUNS ON HER BLOOD? As if it's in her GENES...as if EVERY BLACK PERSON CAN RAP?
The thing CL and T have in common is that their dad both introduced them to this type of music. Their fathers influenced them both. BUT you think T had it better cuz her dad was BLACK because YOU assume every black person can rap.
@TrulyYoursAbby And let's not forget your "I sincerely respect T though" ("THOUGH?!") after you said her dad was black, like it was WRONG to be black? Ok motherfucking racist, STFU and stop stereotyping.
@TrulyYoursAbby You probably LOLed because you realized how ignorant you sounded. You specifically said that Tasha had an advantage because she was black and that you love the fact that CL was pure Korean. Did you think her dad was a rapper because he's black? LOL Sweetie, he was NOT a rapper. He was a DJ. Very different. Please stop stereotyping. If you don't want people getting the wrong idea, you need to stop leaving such ignorant comments.
@TrulyYoursAbby Sweetie, rap and DJ are two different things. It's possible to be both, but in Tasha's father's case, it wasn't. He was JUST a DJ. Not a DJ and Rapper. You can't seem to tell me how her dad influencing her is more beneficial than CL's dad influencing her besides the fact that Tasha's dad was black. You obviously don't know what ignorant mean. If I'm calling you ignorant then OF COURSE that means it makes me smarter than you.
@TrulyYoursAbby If you keep up that racist attitude of yours, then you'll never reach my level. :) Have a good life and don't leave your country or you'll have a very hard time accepting people and understanding why people can't accept you either.
@TrulyYoursAbby Oh...I see where the problem is now and I would like to apologize. You don't know what "racist" means. I can understand that since you live in your own country and probably never experienced someone judging you because of your skin color or the blood you were born with. That's what racism is and you had judged Tasha and CL because of the blood/race they were born with.
@stfumvs again, back to the circle =_= gawd. i know what "racist" is, okay? Think whatever you want now you prolly misunderstanding each other...this is getting nowhere. You got your point, i got my point. And there is NO POINT in continuing this because you kept on insisting something that's reaaaally NOT the point.
@TrulyYoursAbby "Do you think you're not being racist with this line of yours? 'I just can't help it when there are idiots like you who are allowed to breathe and be free to roam the world.' " It's obvious when you used that example that you had NO idea what racism is. Please stop judging people for their race. That would help you when you visit other countries or when you meet a tourist. Please do better with life. Good luck.
@TrulyYoursAbby "But i love the fact that CL is pure korean unlike T whose dad is black, (i sincerely respect T though) so black runs on her blood, obviously she knows rap music better than her junior CL." Please explain that some more then if you didn't mean it in a way that deals with race. PLEASE TELL ME HOW TASHA BENEFITED MORE from those exact lines you stated. You can't seem to tell me!
@stfumvs Because i think Black people are very gifted with Musical Talent and that includes his dad isn't he a DJ? I view Black people as talented people especially in Music, i may not like Micheal Jackson but i love his music, I love beyonce when she started with Destiny's Child my fav girl band in the past along w/ TLC. I was into BLACK music back in the days, it ain't about "benefit", IT'S GIFT OF MUSIC, okay? How can i be racist if i love black people's music huh? Did i explain myself now?
@stfumvs i admit, my 1st response to u ~may~ actually be viewed as being racist, but no, it was just "acknowledging" Black people who established this genre. T's father, u could say he's just a dj but i believe he KNOWS rap, at least accept that? Sorry if this debate turned out ugly, my point is for u to recognize CL on the other hand, a pure korean girl that can pull off rap very well. Even some critics said she's good already so they're excited for what's in store for her in the future...
@stfumvs you keep on insisting your point, yeah i see no point going back and forth here since you seem to focus only on yours. Thanks, i appreciate your time and point.
@TrulyYoursAbby I just wanted to say that I read your comments and I think it's also cool that CL is pure Korean and was influenced by American music and has a natural talent for it. She's amazing and it makes me proud to be an African-American. Rap is a big part of African-American culture/history and its awesome to see people in other countries loving it and taking it and making it their own! Big Bang, Drunken Tiger, Tasha, 2ne1 I love them all! I don't think you were being racist at all :)
@TrulyYoursAbby I think that person thought you were being racist because you mentioned that Tasha's half Black. Even though Rap and Hip Hop comes from Black people, not all of us are good at it. Just wanted to share that with you. I know lots of Black people who SUCK REEEEEALLY badly at rapping hahaha they are terrible!!! Even though it's "Black music", not all Blacks have an advantage with it or are good at it. Just thought you should know :) CL and Tasha are naturals no matter their race <3
@Kiyone thank you ^^ it was just a big misunderstanding with the one i argued with, but everything's okay now, i'm not really being racist or anything i'm just telling him that her father is Black and he's a dj so he knows music so why not teach/influence his daughter to music? Parents are still the first teachers and it's not really about him being "black" haha it was confusing becoz he insisted i'm being racist XD Of course she's a natural talent, Tasha is now one of the greatest musicians ^^
@TrulyYoursAbby Also, I get what you meant by mentioning that Tasha's dad has great knowledge of music. BUT you can't "teach" someone to rap. They're either good at it or not and Tasha started writing music as a child, she naturally has talent ;). Her dad couldn't give her that talent no matter how hard he tried. As for CL, thanks to her dad's varied tastes in music she grew up listening to GREAT influences and once again, a natural talent! Can't wait to see her writing skills grow!
@TrulyYoursAbby Also, just because this is online and not in "real life" doesn't mean that your words are less idiotic or more smart. They are words just like speaking words and can have the same effect. If my words mean nothing to you, you wouldn't be coming here and leaving replies after everyone of my replies. Online and Offline are all real life.
@stfumvs oh it's not about "your words mean nothing to me" at all, it's about the racist thing, i took that sentence of yours as an "example" of you, being racist YOURSELF. Okay, i'mma change real life/online to something else. You don't know me PERSONALLY, now do you get what that means? We don't know each other in person so let's drop this since we're talking in circles already, ktnxbye.
@stfumvs Interesting argument, close but not 100% correct. The style of music known as rapping evolved from the 1970s (and before) style of "rapping" on a song, which was like talking, instead of what we know as rap today. The man that most rappers attribute to "starting" rap was actually James Brown, because hip-hop largely stemmed from his style. What we know as "rap" originated in New York in the late 70s. It's a complicated history, and yes, started with African Americans.
@stfumvs however, hip-hop DOES involve many beat patterns that some believe originated in Africa, but in the States, it was borrowed from other styles of African American music, such as rock & roll, blues, soul, and funk. To say only rap has roots in Africa is a bit misinformed. African-American music IN GENERAL has roots in Africa, the same as Salsa, and any other form of music developed by those of African decent in the Americas (North & South). But, no, Africans didn't start hip-hop.
@prodigychild1988 I'm glad you know what you're talking about and make some sense. Hiphop didn't root from Africa, but Rap did. James Brown isn't known for "starting" rap, he's known for influencing it. But the whole point of this debate was that trulyyoursabby says Tasha is a better rapper BECAUSE she has Black blood in her. She might be a better rapper, but it isn't due to her being Black. Not only that, but her hinting that being Black is "bad" however trulyyoursabby will still respect her.
@stfumvs No, rap began, rap as we know it today, from New York in the 1970s. Take Humanites (or hip-hop studies, depending on your University), and you should learn about it. As I said, if you read, rap(which is the basis of hip-hop) was influenced by soul, funk, rock&roll, and other African-American forms of music. Which were in turn influenced by African sounds, because all African-American/Afro-Carribbean/Afro-Latino music was. But the first rappers, sorry, were Af-Am, not West African.
@stfumvs No, rap began, rap as we know it today, from New York in the 1970s. Take Humanites (or hip-hop studies, depending on your University), and you should learn about it. @stfumvs Also, I never said James Brown "started" rap, but the same thing you just said. He is often referenced when talking about who influenced rappers, he is also the most sampled musician in hip-hop. And if you listen to his music, a lot of it sounds like rap. (I'm Black & I'm Proud is a good example.) To say rap started in West Africa is absurd. I'm sure you can't name a West African rapper. But the Godfathers of hip-hop (SugarHill Gang, Big Daddy Kane, etc) are from New York.
@stfumvs It would also help for you to note that the majority of African-Americans have West African roots. The bulk of the slaves brought to the Americas were West African (with a few East Africans, and actually, s lot of Irish people, too). Those people, of course, has West African traditions. A lot of those traditions eventually evolved, during the last century, into several different styles of music (jazz, soul, blues, rock & roll, funk, etc). You're making a stretched argument.
@prodigychild1988 Thanks for jumping into this "debate" with your knowledge but in some parts, you've been eating your own words and proving that you sometimes don't know what you're talking about. Not only that but you've denied you said this and that when you clearly did so I think I'll stop responding to you. And I said rap ROOTED from Africa. The rap you know of today is of course different from the rap that was rooted from Africa. Like you said music changes with time. NeedOne, look it up.
