Nah, he had probably already been through that checkpoint a few times that night and they recognised him. Or it may have just been a seatbelt (buses exempt) or license and registration check.

True, that was probably the case. Too bad your camera didn't catch more of it, those darn memory cards. They always manage to fill up at the most inconvenient times. Either that or the battery dies lol.
