Unforgettable stories from the most intense place in the world...the dull-sounding Mercantile Exchange. Well, the Merc's glory days are fast disappearing, but what a ride these rough-and-tumble players had. More action than a thousand craps tables...that's the way the Merc floor seems in retrospect. Except this is financial combat, fought with wits, speed and screamed words. But the speed race is being won by microchips. A great portrait of the harshest way to get rich (or poor) quick.
i think in the long run the vast majority of traders end up making less money then if they were working regular jobs and putting money in a savings account.
@mrhazel well yeah, people who trade other people's money and share only profits, but not the losses, make a hell lot of money. People who trade their own money, very rarely make a lot of money or maintain the money they make, in case they're aggressive.
What you chumps don't realize is it is a big corrupt racket Chicago style. The High frequency trading that makes up 80% percent of the CME volume is not transparent and totally unregulated. They wouldn't have it any other way. Do you wonder why they have donated over 200,000 to John Boehner of Ohio? most of it is to likely not scrutinize High Frequency Trading. Most of you guys on the floor made your money by layups from the Pit brokers. You don't have a clue what trading is.

you only prove my point. in a world of 1000s of players, you find me one exception. Who stands alone and solidifys my point that this was a white mans network.
Your filled dick nose. After last week your gonna be kissing our ass for your order flow, and now we"ll really fuck you. Talking shit hiding behind that screen... total pussy. Come down to the floor and we'll see whats what. You have my email, let me know and I'll be happy to sign your bitch ass on as a "guest". You can be like the rest of the algo's that we laugh our asses off at. "Stickers" on the floor all wide eyed watching real traders at work....always a good laugh.
Really looking forward to this movie! Hopefully it's successful enough to spur some sequels about the "computer boys" and about the quants and high frequency trading, the markets are always evolving.
I honestly can't wait to watch this, thanks for producing this movie. I don't care how good/bad this movie turns out, please tell me you're filming a sequel
CDS's need to be listed on the CME. Central clearing and price transparency would have saved everyone a lot of grief the last few years. We can still learn a lot from the Chicago markets.
Looks like a great movie. I worked down there for 15 years and these guys thought they were kings of the world. Humility is a bitch when it slaps you upside the head. Fuck 'em..
That was my bro, Adam Rollo, featured in the clip where there were two guys trading electronically!!!! Trade those fucking oil futures and make millions bro!!!
Cant wait for this to come out, but the chances of seeing it at my local theater is slim to non at all, any chance it will be out on DVD some time in the next year or two.
Not just the equity markets, High Frequency Trading is making stop losses an obsolete tool. The future is in automated and semi-automated systems such as strategy rotation.
This guy is a fucken retard he says hes seen great open outcry traders move to the screen with zero success well ill like to tell him somthing ive seen great open outcry traders move away from the floor into a screen and have greater succes so I dont know what the fuck hes talking about every succesfull trader i know started as floor trader and now are all sucessful electronic traders its the same thing support and resistance can be seen better on a price chart than on the floor he doesnt trade
no use in making sense in the comments section Larry, al the morons who think they are experts because they saw a Micheal Moore movie vote you down. they have NO CLUE what reality is, nor do they care to learn.
one's agenda takes precedence over what they know is right.
I assume you are human, im sure you can think of some examples in your life where this applies. I challenge anyone to show evidence against my statement, i will provide you 100 rebuttals for every exhibit.

We hear these same comments all the time about translating the skills from the floor to the screen. Fact is many (not all) floor traders don't know much about technology and are afraid of what they don't know. Listen to the one guy, "I hate email, I hate computers!"
