I think this might be my favorite production yet of this opera, and it happens to be one my favorite operas. Fleming is divine and Hagley is just perfect for the role of Susanna! Loooooove!
@papagena552 It's not a case of better or worse...just different...but you might want to check out the production that someone just posted of this at Covent Garden...with Pappano. It is wonderfully staged (as they always seem to be at ROH, and the cast is great also. Not necessarily better, but great in a different way.
@twistoftime Of course it's not a case of better or worse. This production just happens to be my personal, subjective favorite. I've seen a lot of the Covent Garden (the one with Miah Persson, right?) and I love it too. And then there is the one at the Met, 2000 with Bryn Terfel, and the Gardiner production with Terfel and Gilfrey... it's amazing that I actually can choose a favorite. ;)
@papagena552 Yup, the one with Miah. The funny thing I've discovered in that performance is that only part of the chorus is present in the curtain calls. I have no idea why. Seems to make no sense, but...whatever. For the most part I don't have "favorites" as most productions have some "good points." There are a few I just struggle to accept, usually when they try to take a "modern take" on something that just doesn't work.
@papagena552 I should also mention that in that production you can see the Figaro from this production playing the Count. Personally, I think he's a better Count.
This performance blow me away, made love il nozze, and it makes all sense. The Baritone, figaro omg is fantastic. I had to listen this for an exame and another dvd here was with harnoncrourt but the scene director was high for shure it was a desister. This is old fashion and bloody hell it works
Did I see an unfilled seat in the beginning? Surely, mine eyes must deceive me.

Interesting, I'm not accustomed to the audience clapping after scene changes or arias. I've only encountered applause after acts.

Mozart was a true genius.
With al the wrongs in this world his music shows that humanity is capable of wonderfull things from time to time.
