@119944778 sweet someone with your name is in Dutch politics trying to keep Geert 'the demon' Wilders at bay, he's doing a good job for our country be proud of that name !
@zwerverbeer I wonder who that person is!! I do not know much about the Dutch politics as I live in England. I suppose this person with my namesake might be a Turkish person in origin...an immigrant maybe??? Yes??? I think all demonsshould be checked and kept under control...where ever they might be...!!!
@119944778 yes he is a Turkish person , I don't know what his background is but he is one of the more progressive members of our cristian/democratic party (CDA).
despite his efforts to controll the demon it has almost completely taken over our country in a strange coalition with the two other evil partys as you have probably heard.
@zwerverbeer Well...my felicitations to this Turkish gentleman. Being a Turk,I do feel proud for his achievements in your country. I hope he serves well for all, where ever his horizon falls. As I said ,I am afraid I am not a politically orientated person, apart from a certain degree of involment, personally speaking. Thanks for your comments by the way:=))) Coskun/UK
@jimmylad53 and Tommy Makem with the ouher banjo.... looks as if look was taken iat the latter part of Lukes singing career.. bless them all.. great artists...
oh God, what I'd do to be standing where the guy in the pic is! Tommy Makem on one side and Luke Kelly on the other...undoubtably the two greatest singers to come out of ireland!
absolutely!! Another legend that the Irish have produced! I'm sure there's a mighty great sing-song going going on in heaven right now with those guys!
I have an album of the Carlton from Canada but I think I remember your uncle Christy from an earlier time. I think he was in an accordin march band that was run from our home when I was very young .I have a picture framed of it yet as my father helped run it. That of course was in Co Tyrone where I think your uncle came from.
My dad is Christy's older brother (the oldest of 13 McLaughlin kids)originally from Strabane. If you could send me the pic, I would love that!! Does your dad remember Jim or any of the other McLaughlin's?
This picture was taken at a great folk festival in Vermont USA in 83.The lads were performing there and then coming down to Malden Ma.and Boston Ma.USA.The Vermont concert was not recorded. We recorded the Malden Ma. concert but Luke was in bad shape and we never released it.I had not been with Luke since 1980 and I knew he was ill but I was shocked and saddened to see the extent.I was lucky to have know him since 66.
Do you know the name of the festival in VT? I went to the one that was held at the race track in Great Barrington or somewhere in Western MA in 1983 - The Dubliners, Makem and Clancy, Barley Bree and more were there. What a weekend!
You damn Irish, I love the.

How does Barney's body manage to be behind Makem's when his head is in front of it?
HabsburgLorraine 3 years ago
I reckon that Barney managed to get a lot younger and smaller during the course of the event, while managing to retain the beard.
And full credit to him for his achievement.
