...there are just some songs that their band just can't pull of. This is one of those songs. The "bum bum bee dum" part was almost painful to listen to. I think people need to relax about her chorography, she makes them enjoyable to the viewers who don't know much about ballroom dancing. The judges are WAY too rough on Lacey's choreography.

this is NOT gothic tango... the dance is great, I know, but the title is pathetic, how is RIHANNA related with the gothic world??? If you think that the "costumes" can do all the work then you really don't know anything about gothic. Sorry but it's kind of dissapointing to find this.

I absolutely loved this dance! Especially since Lance contributed to the choreography. The last part of the dance, the whole "neck-breaking" thing is a move from his N'SYNC shows.

yes they do. the celebs or pros have no say in it. the producers choose the songs based on the personalities of the two. seems that they chose every song spot on for these 2. the kissed a girl paso was a bit of humour. also, it explains why some pairs get crappy songs because their personalities are blah!

I think that they should have gotten 30. This was the best tango to date . The judges should have praised Lacey at this incredible choreography and they did not say anything . When is Julianne or Derek they praised them, which is good . I think that other professionals have done great chreographys, Like Edytas Superman paso, Kym,s quick step with Joey, Marks paso . I think I would be a better judge than them.

So true. Actually, if you've noticed, the judgs hate Lacey, because as she puts it, she's the "rebel of the dancefloor". She comes up with fresh and fun routines that on one thinks of and the judges aren't used to seeing that. I hate it how all their comments have resulted in her doing more conventional routines this season.

@JamieZeleneGlades They don't hate Lacey, her routines are sometimes outside of the rules of the specific dances. In dances like Jitterbug, Salsa, and Country Two-Step, there are fewer rules, so the dancers can go crazy (within reason). Latin Ballroom dances (Samba, Cha Cha Cha, Rumba, Jive, and Paso Doble) and Argentine Tango allow some freedom, but with Smooth/Standard dances - Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Quickstep, and Viennese Waltz - there are set conventions that must be followed.

@abc1118 I do know the rules of all the above dances. I'm a ballroom dancer myself. The thing is, when the golden boy and girl - Derek and Julianne - do such choreography and so-called 'break the rules' the judges let it slip by, but with Lacey, they nit-pick on every detail. And yes, I have actually seen Derek and Julianne mess up technique because of choreography on this show.

@JamieZeleneGlades I will admit, they are far harder on Lacey that on almost anyone else. After the most recent round of dances, I am definitely seeing the double standard you talked about. Len called Lacey and Kyle's foxtrot too theatrical, but liked Mark's dancing gorillas. Even Tom Bergeron called him on it. Lacey is my favorite pro, and I think the more conventional routines are less a function of pressure from the judges and more her moving from her swing roots to a more ballroom style.

Disturbia is not a gothic song, the costume is only slightly gothic (I do love that corset, though) and I do think that they cold ahve done a better job choreographing it.

I'm slightly biased having done a gothic/industrial bellydance and hiphop fusion to this piece, but coming from one who knows the gothic subculture inside and out, I am of the firm belief that this performance was incredibly mislabeled by the media.
