I used to listen to my mom play this when I did my homework...it never failed to capture my interest...and by the time she was done...I was always in tears standing over the piano listening. This is still my favorite piece of classical music:-)
I played this alot seventeen years ago. But when I got to the last page I bailed out cause playing in Presto tempo was more than I was up to. Funny thing was that my teacher predicted I wouldn't finish and he was right!
Wonderful! I am now 38, and have been performing this concerto since the age of 12. There are many nuances to such a piece, but I honestly think you have caught on to many of them! Albeit, there are more to be discovered, but that is just something to look forward to! Congratulations to the young pianist!
the frequency in which the recording was done alters the tuning of the instruments, ok I hear it on 2:45. Poor tuning, but very hard piece and excellent performance. I love the the video.
Look at these kids. Not professional - and playing with HEART.....reflecting the soul and heart of this score......why it was written and what it represents. Good for each of them.
I think that instead of criticizing the performance of the whole orchestra, we should congratulate them for trying to play that complex piece! Let's not forget that these people are in high-school.
I suggest that you try playing it, then record yourself. Let's see what you can bring to the table. ;-)
Was this played at your high school? It certainly sounds like the orchestra is a high school level, because, to be honest, that orchestra is horrible. It is like two completely different leagues. You are very good at this concerto and the orchestra is awful.

Too bad these student players do not know the historical background of the Warsaw Concerto. The "untonation" of the orchestra is terrible and adolescent all except for the pianist who is terrific!
Great piano execution. Orchestra is awfull. Anyway, I just love this concerto. I've never seen the movie for which this piece was written, I think it was quite intrascendental.
Odd recording. I agree with the comment about "tuning." Much of the sound of the piano is rich and on-key ... but nearly section of the orchestra sounds as if it's a junior high school band. Just imagine what that splendid young man playing his heart out on the piano must have felt to be fronting for a group that sounds like the Seattle Sight-Read Symphony. Dennis

This piece of music was "too big" for this group.. perhaps something a bit simpler would have worked better.
